If you city hop and eventually return to your original hotel before flying home (eg, starting in Tokyo, going to Osaka and Kyoto, and then back to Tokyo), ask your hotel to reserve your unneeded luggage until you come back, and take a small suitcase with you elsewhere. My partner and I have done this in Japan for years with no issue.
To add it’s such a lovely opportunity for building relationships with grandparents, my daughter whom is now an adult treasures the times she spent with my mum who has since passed away. So glad you had a wonderful time and we’re able to recharge with your hubby ❤️ balance is so important in our busy lifestyles
When my daughter was four, my husband and I went on an anniversary trip to Italy for eight days. It was a thing we'd been talking about for years, and the timing was finally working out. My MIL stayed with her, took her to school, all the good things. We Facetimed at night, but she was totally thriving! I think I was more upset about being away from her than she was being away from me. 🤣
Without kids THE BEST 🎉🎉🎉 we have 4y and 1y old we were together on a holiday this summer and when we came back we canceled our family trip to Madrid in favour of shorter trip to Madrid without them. We cannot wait 😂😂😂
I knew a plastic surgeon who married another plastic surgeon. He (husband) was Chinese. They went to China every year for 2 weeks and performed hundreds of cleft palate surgeries for free. They had a very successful practice here in the states (Dr. Wall, Louisiana) and I just thought it was an incredible thing to do. They vacationed too and saw family but I just thought it was great. Also - kids at that age make travel frustrating for parents and the kids don't remember so good choice! Glad you got a break ❤
We lived in Japan for three years and had two daughters there. The respect they have there is amazing. I miss it so much. Living in the USA is so chaotic and maddening.
Hi Sam, I am so glad you had such a pleasant experience over in japan! I went there for the first time myself this summer and it was so nice to listen to you, talk about your trip. Made me reminisce. Also I wanna say, I love how you approached this video! Feels so up-close (literally ;P) and personal, like a friend telling me about her travels while we get ready together. ❤ Have a great day, lots of love from Austria
My partner and I were in Tokyo and Kyoto last October and loved it as well! Kyoto was such a vibe. We climbed monkey mountain nearby and played with some monkeys up there.
Great video travel/makeup ! Portugal is amazing, Vietnam explore on scooter and get caught up in a wave of scooters the best fun ever ! Turkey, Jordan .... so many places !!!
I am a military brat and was born in Japan. We left there when I was very young. I have always thought that it would be nice to go back there some day and see where I was born. I found this very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing! I am happy that you enjoyed your trip so much.
Last May we took our 3yr old son with us to London and Scotland. I’m so happy we went together as a family. He adjusted very well and had just as much fun as we did! We are taking him again to the UK next year. If you do decide to travel with your son, remember that the first day will be the worst and definitely go with the flow. Don’t make too many plans because it’s almost impossible to do that with toddlers. I love looking back at my photos and seeing the amazing moments we made with our son ❤
We go almost every year to Nigeria with our kiddos since our oldest (twins) were 6 months old. I’m happy to give any advice.. kids now ages 4, 5 and 6 yr. Old twins. Your videos have been amazing!!! Thank YOU
If (or when 😉) you go back, make sure you take a few days and go to Okinawa. It’s basically the Hawaii of Japan, it’s about a 2 hour flight from Tokyo and it’s a whole different vibe. We lived there for 3 years and fell in love so hard. Japan will always be a special place to us and we can’t wait to go back and visit 🌸
Loved so much hearing about your trip!! 😊 It brought me back. We lived in Iwakuni (mainland) Japan for 3 years when my husband was stationed overseas. BEST time of our lives. We climbed Mt. Fuji, ran a marathon with the locals, lived in a Japanese home all 3 years. The food, the hospitality, the culture, They are some of the nicest people. Good call on not taking the little one. You can always visit with him again when he is older and can appreciate the culture. He will remember it and take it with him. My kids share stories till this day. They loved it!! ❤🙏🏻
@@mimirooney5034 That’s great! If you’re there for military purposes the base always has fun things to do, themed dinners and their bowling alley is so fun. Mind you I was there for 2007-2010. I would think not much has changed. I would encourage you to venture out. All the Daiso stores are great. They are to Japan what Dollar Tree is to us. Also the Kintai bridge . So beautiful and when the cherry blossoms come in it is a gorgeous site. Lastly, take a trip on the bullet train, just so you can say you did. 😊 You don’t really need a destination but it’s only 1 hour to Hiroshima from Iwakuni on the train and depending on the Yen rate it should only be a few dollars each way. Enjoy your time there! I’m not jealous. 🥹😁✌️
That was fun! I may need to push Japan higher up on my bucket list. Favorite places … Thailand, Costa Rica, Ireland, Croatia, Bosnia, Switzerland, Botswana, South Africa. And we’re headed to Greece next fingers crossed. That was our May 2020 anniversary trip that we had just paid for when the pandemic hit so we still need our redo. A Japanese skincare / makeup video would be fun!
Thank you for taking us along and for your sharing your insights! To "prolong" your trip, I would recommend Pico Iyer's A Beginner's Guide to Japan. He has lived there for decades (on a tourist visa, because he's always on the move).
Bart feels okay during commute hours. Since I'm from the US, i think I'm just used to public transit like bart and the subway being grimey If you're in the Kyoto/Osaka area again, i highly recommend a half day trip to Himeiji castle and trying calm-based ramen in Kyoto
I’m going to Japan next year, so this was so helpful. So glad you both had such a great time:) I also ordered the Kosas brow product to try. I would love any suggestions about the most gentle anti dandruff product for the face. Does the hypochlorous spray help with that at all?
Awesome video, am getting ready to go to Japan in a couple of months. Please-please do Japanese skincare review, at least teh stuff you purchased and liked. Thanks!
Japan isn't top of my list, but this was so interesting. I love travel and skincare channels, so this was a great 2 in 1. Btw I also love being in the spa area with my partner, but I find it annoying if people decide to talk in the sauna/steam room. I guess it's not only me, as in Europe we generally don't converse, whilst in these areas, especially if there are other people in the sauna/steam room with us. It's a moment for peace and quiet, whereas the pool area is the chatty part 😃
We were also supposed to go to Japan in 2020 (April) but obviously it didn’t happen. Still trying to rebook so definitely great to hear you had an amazing experience. They’re probably one of the most accommodating country in Asia for anyone with allergies. Anyway, highly recommend Portugal. Had the best time, great food, great scenery and great people. Btw will you be sharing the goodies (skincare) you purchased on the trip?
Wow!! The sooo helpful!! Planning a trip to Japan soon!!! Btw how are you liking The rhode essence? I was excited to see you incorporate it because I’ve been thinking of purchasing it. Thoughts?
Whats the name of the Izakaya you mentioned at 13:38?? I didn't see it in the description box and am super curious. Recently went to Japan and hearing your excitement for it reminded me of it all over again. Such an incredible country!!
Great video! I also love the ColoreScience Sunforgettable Flex, but yeah it is pretty pigmented and I'd like to just use a small amount. Is there a non-tinted ColoreScience product that you would recommend pairing it with? I am quite cool-toned and am worried that the universal tint of the "OG" Sunforgettable would be too warm for me. Thanks!
Set the guilt aside, there is no need for it. Every trip I go on I see people with kids and lots of the time neither one seem to be having a good time. We all need time apart. Our kids used to stay with their grandparents and now our grandkids stay with us, which makes it a holiday for everyone.
We are planning a family trip to Japan within a year and a half or so. Instead of a sweet 15/16, my daugther was a trip, and Japan is one of the places she'd like to go and visit. If you have anymore info, that would be great. I was thinking of doing a tour, but after watching your video we might forgo the tour and plan it ourselves. My immediate question is at the train station(s), are the signs or schedules in English?
It depends on the station. Most of the big stations these days have signage in Japanese and they are accurate to a fault. If a train leaves at 2:47, it will leave at 2:47. Saying that, the main hubs are HUGE, Shinjuku station alone has like a dozen exits. Google Maps works though, and their schedules are very useful.
the one good thing about my low blood pressure issues is that my cardiologist literally told me to eat more salt. gimme all the sodium. all the soy sauce. mwahahahahhaa
I used to work in Japan and I miss how polite everyone is. In the US getting on the subway you practically have to throw elbows and lose a shoe👞 just to squeeze through the door but in Japan everyone disembarks while the newcomers politely wait for them without blocking the doorway. It's just simple things like this that bring on the nostalgia...
So you speak some Japanese? Wondering how it was communicating with native Japanese. My boyfriend went years ago but speaks Japanese so he had no issues
Eating while walking is not allowed, or even standing somewhere visible while eating is frowned upon. Everyone is so polite that you tend to notice the “rules” and in turn follow them. This is great but it eliminated a lot of chances of trying stuff, specially the convenience store ice cream
Giving your son that time with his grandparent is an equally beautiful thing!❤

This is so lovely to hear! I'm currently pregnant and I'm already worried if we would never travel like pre-baby.
Without kids THE BEST 🎉🎉🎉 we have 4y and 1y old we were together on a holiday this summer and when we came back we canceled our family trip to Madrid in favour of shorter trip to Madrid without them. We cannot wait 😂😂😂
🤣 I support this decision
In April my husband and I also went to Japan for 9 days sans my 2.5 year old. It felt like honeymoon all over again and we’re so glad we did it!
Japan is beyond beautiful! Enjoy your trip! ❤

Loved this style of video! Both seeing your getting ready routine and the Japan trip!
Pretty relaxing 😂while doing skincare routine with sharing travel memories ❤ Thanks I like it
We lived in Japan for three years and had two daughters there. The respect they have there is amazing. I miss it so much. Living in the USA is so chaotic and maddening.
Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I are going in March and I’m definitely looking for recommendations so this is great.
Loved this video. Now a stand alone makeup tutorial. I loved the trip get ready. One of my favorites!
We’re going in a few months so this is perfect timing!! So excited!

Going to Japan had never been on my radar, but now it is! Thanks for the detailed review❤❤

We also planned a trip to Japan in 2020. We finally went in May 2023. Fantastic! Loved your stories.

OMG, starting to watch. Couldn't wait for this post.

My dream vacay! I'm saving up here. Please do a skincare haul of your Japanese skincare!
So Happy for you!!

Welcome to Japan😊🫶🏻
Enjoying your videos in Japan❤
I am originally from Tokyo, Japan. I am glad you enjoyed your Japan trip! Now I miss my hometown…

I just moved to Iwakuni! Any spots u love or recommend?

You’ll have a great time!

Also the Japanese public transport system is just AMAZING. It makes you realise how far behind the US is.
Shipping your luggage in Japan is 100% the pro move! Super efficient and trustworthy.
Bart feels okay during commute hours. Since I'm from the US, i think I'm just used to public transit like bart and the subway being grimey

Hoping Prequel gleanser is restocked soon!
If you go to Portugal you should come to Galicia (Spain but right above portugal and it’s so beautiful🙄) i could give you a free tour😌😌😌
Glad that you had a good time in Japan! You love coffee and so am I but my teeth get easily discolored from it. How do you keep your teeth so white?
Would love the name of the first izakaya you went to in Tokyo with the great tempura! 🙏

Maybe I missed but what’s the best skincare in Japan?
Will prequel going to ship up Canada ever?
I've heard a lot of people say good things about Japan.
We are planning a family trip to Japan within a year and a half or so. Instead of a sweet 15/16, my daugther was a trip, and Japan is one of the places she'd like to go and visit. It did feel incredibly cordial
Thank you for the caveat about maybe not pronouncing Japanese names correctly. You did fine! But I love that you are aware and prefaced it. Kudos.
So you speak some Japanese? Wondering how it was communicating with native Japanese. My boyfriend went years ago but speaks Japanese so he had no issues
We didn’t really struggle with communication, but I think that’s because we were in the bigger cities where English speakers were relatively prevalent
You could put a four-ounce bottle in a checked bag.
Question - why are so many certified dermatologists bored? It seems an extremely interesting and rewarding profession.
Eating while walking is not allowed, or even standing somewhere visible while eating is frowned upon. Everyone is so polite that you tend to notice the “rules” and in turn follow them. This is great but it eliminated a lot of chances of trying stuff, specially the convenience store ice cream
