Love how your enthusiasm shines through on all of your videos no matter what the subject is, really inspires and adds so much! Great build review as always, I can't wait to get my hands on this one...Thanks Chris!
You know, what I most enjoy about your videos, aside from the nice editing and titling to show the build highlights, is your simple and honest enthusiasm for the subject. Like you, I'm a lifelong fan of sci-fi ships, and it's a great pleasure when that is the focus, rather than a load of bitching about perceived flaws in the kit. In the past, after wavering about whether to buy something or not, I've bought three kits based on your reviews. Now I'm convinced about this one. Thank you, and keep up the good work.
I'm from the FUTURE - June, 2019. WOW. This is impressive. AND, I can tell you that you've gotten even better at this model UA-cam channel thing. Didn't think that was possible, but you did it - Thank you for sharing...
The Defiant is one of my favorite ships! Round 2 did a good job on this kit with all the decals and you made it look outstanding! Thanks for the build review Chris!!
Love your videos,Chris.I'm not a huge Sci-Fi guy,but that came out great.Obviously, the decals are what make this kit pop.Very cool. Good job on them. That many can be very tedious.👍
I paid an arm and a leg for the AMT/Erl 1:537 Defiant near the end of last year, to get imported into the UK from the US--ended up printing decals out from Starship Modeller. I may have to grab a pair of this kit when it comes in--a build for myself and a buddy who is a big DS9 fan. I just recently did the Colonial Viper Mk.II from the reimagined BSG too, for him as a birthday gift, so I'm used to LEDs, fiber optics, and tight spaces now. The only other Polar Lights/Round2 kit I've built so far was the 1/1000 NX-01 Refit, and I had bad luck with the decals. So I'm hoping that I have a better time with the ones that come with this 1/1000 Defiant.
Wow, I am surprised how good it looks when care is taken with decals; other than clear parts (and hull of course), did you paint anything else on the ship?
I am really thinking converting my Star Trek modeling to 1/1000 scale now with all the quality kits out. Small yet lightable. Of course then they come out with the 1/350 ktinga..... Damn you polar lights!
I think if I remember I used a ghost grey Sugar brand spray from Hobby Lobby or light grey primer. I thought I mentioned it in the video but maybe I didn't.
Still have on my shelf the original huge Defiant. Built it years ago, primed but never finished it or put decals on it (still in a box)... Like to have this nice smaller scale
I LOVE that they put recessed panel lines on this one. Round 2 often gets the colors not quite right on their decal sheets. Can't wait for the Oberth/Bird of Prey kit. Sometime next month, I imagine.
Very nice little Ship. I prefer to build the bigger scale, however, there seems to be a large fleet of ships in the 1:1000 scale, so i may have to get these soon.
OMG, I'm so glad you posted this! I think you just saved me from buying an Eaglemoss equivalent. Tell me, is this decal set the stock kit, or is it extra? Would you kindly link it if that's the case? Thanks.
hpiguys Workshop wow! That’s epic. Never bought polar lights before...all my old stuff like Revell all required 3rd party decal sets. Thanks for the reply...this looks like a good quick build for me.
Fortune favors the bold... And you sir did a bold job... If I buy one will you build it... Lol can feel just fine and my paintings not bad but I always screw up the decals I mean always
How do love coming back to your vids And getting my model kit tools all set airbrush newbie Anyway Iv watched ds9 and the defiants base colour grey anyone know what the closest tamiya would recommend She’s gonna be a hit on my fleet
hpiguys Workshop to bad there is actually a way to reuse them. Apply micro Sol til it starts to wrinkle again just lift it up with a needle and with lots of luck you can get it off safely but these polar lights decals are to thin and to sticky so I'll just have to live with it
According to the link for Auto World posted in the description: ( www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/pol952.htm ) the release date is May 2018. You can pre-order now and the price is $24.99.
Great review, great model and scale compared to their old larger scale warped plastic model, but they are way off on the different shades of blue on the decals. Hope they can correct them and make them available to every somehow without having to pay for them.
looks great, but for me it looks too big for a 1:1000 Defiant, I know there is some debate around its size, which based on shots from First Contact is at most about 55m, and based on some other shots cannot be smaller than about 200m, I had always believed about 120m was about right but looks like they went more like 220m despite that this is definately a kit I will be getting (maybe a few of)

Thanks for the nice words and for watching SpaceRanger!
I just ordered this and a the nx class, I watched both videos and yours where the clearest and most informative, thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks a lot!
I just want to have fun and make model kits, the haters don't appeal to me.

Much appreciated Kenny!
Absolutely amazing work, video editing and excellent presentation.

Good job on them. That many can be very tedious.👍
Thanks Charlie! I'm into all kinds of stuff so I try to spread it around.
I love the defiant ship in DS9! That looks really good. Great job!
Thanks Shahriar!
Great video. I’m staring off with this kit and want to paint it. What kind of paint will light shine through? Thank you.
Great work again! Any chance of a video showcasing your collection of built kits?
Sure, one day I may do that!

The decals are very nice and thin in this kit.
If you do not mind my asking, what kind of paint is used and how exactly do you paint it.
Thanks
Awesome job! I absolutely love all of your build reviews. .
Glad you like them!
Looks Great, I got this kit today. If I use a black primer coat furst will it make the panel lines stand out more?
It will help, yes.
“LITTLE?!?” -Worf
LOL
I was considering buying the Eaglemoss model, which is pretty pricy. But this looks so much better. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Wow, I am surprised how good it looks when care is taken with decals; other than clear parts (and hull of course), did you paint anything else on the ship?
Just some small details on the ship itself but not much. 99% is decals.
Looks great . Like your new fast build sequence. Great!
Thanks for watching!
You did that model some justice!!! Excellent work friend!!
Thanks!
Looks great, I love the look of the Defiant. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Dirk!
Just curious how u have this kit....to my knowledge it's not released yet ?
Nice review great detail for the scale. About how many inches is the ship and links and width?
Hi Sarah, I don't have it on hand to measure but you can use the 1 inch grid on my work mat as a guide. Thanks!
Nice. In the middle of assembling mine. What color did you use for the base color?
I think Grey primer, but I thought I talk about it in the video, can't recall.
@@hpiguy I know you have used Winter Grey 2X primer paint for the Enterprise. thanks
Awesome job. Can’t wait to build one.
Thanks, enjoy it, a very fun kit.
Really enjoyed your video and build - thanks!
Thanks for watching!

I saw that coming out, would love to crack that bad boy open.
Great video! What types of grey did you use? The instructions in the kit aren’t very specific, just dark, medium, and light grey.
I think if I remember I used a ghost grey Sugar brand spray from Hobby Lobby or light grey primer. I thought I mentioned it in the video but maybe I didn't.
Would citadel grey seer look okay as a base coat? Got a can of it lying around.
Well done on the build sir, very clean and looks lovely. Still sad at the 1:1000 though, we need a revamp of the bigger kit.
Thanks!
Still have on my shelf the original huge Defiant. Built it years ago, primed but never finished it or put decals on it (still in a box)...
Like to have this nice smaller scale
Finally if been waiting months for this kit
Enjoy!
Awesome! Will most certainly be picking up one!
Thanks for watching!

Can't wait for the Oberth/Bird of Prey kit. Sometime next month, I imagine.

Yeah some of those bigger grey decals should be a little more on the blue side and the big decals on the engines should be a vary dark blue.
James yeah I thought so too.
Very nice little Ship. I prefer to build the bigger scale, however, there seems to be a large fleet of ships in the 1:1000 scale, so i may have to get these soon.
Thank you, and thanks for watching the video and leaving a nice comment! Much appreciated!
Thanks for the review. Will have to keep an eye out for this kit.
Thanks for watching, it's a nice kit.
Holy crap this looks so cool wow I didn’t know this had come out 😳👍
Thanks Simon!
hpiguys Workshop the decals how do you seal them once you put them on and weathering
OMG, I'm so glad you posted this! I think you just saved me from buying an Eaglemoss equivalent. Tell me, is this decal set the stock kit, or is it extra? Would you kindly link it if that's the case? Thanks.
Everything shown is in the kit aside from paint. Decals, etc are in there.

I don't do commissions, but check out my review of the Enterprise D for decal tips.
@@hpiguy will do and thank you so very much for taking the time to read this and giving me some insight I appreciate it...
I just picked one up today at the the local Wally World, only cost $14 with tax!
how long DEFIANT will be experiment ship, after her shake down from NX to NCC
Would it be possible to use Rustoleum 2x Matte Clear as a topcoat after the decals have settled down?
I haven't tried it over decals, I use a gentler clear over decals like Dullcote or acrylic clears.
I love uss defint
I wonder if glow in the dark paints on the inside would show through a clear colour on the outside
Give it a shot!
I had a big model of her years ago which I never finished, wish I kept it.
That looks pretty sweet
How do love coming back to your vids
And getting my model kit tools all set airbrush newbie
Anyway
Iv watched ds9 and the defiants base colour grey anyone know what the closest tamiya would recommend
She’s gonna be a hit on my fleet
Enjoy Simon!
hpiguys Workshop cheers pal
Nice build man! These review/build vids are great. Hard to believe you're from the inferior Wisconsin and not the superior Minnesota. ;D
We can't all be perfect. ;)
I'll be going thru MN in two weeks on my way to Deadwood. :)
WOW....WOW....WOW.....very nice brother...you keep getting better and better....wow....
Thanks!
I have question not related to this review. I want to build a diarama with a road and snow. Can you give me some tips on how to build it.
There are two channels that do great ground work, Kathy Millatt and Luke's APS. Googling either will show you great videos on those topics.
Awesome kit and review my friend!
Thanks Todd!
I wonder if glow in the dark paint would work if you used glow in the dark inside with clear colors over the outside
It might
does the paint come with the model? thxs
No, no paint.
I wonder if it would be easier to paint the parts first and then assemble and do some touch up with brushes.
Whatever you prefer will work.
Nooooo I put the 2 dark grey decals on the bottom to the right. any idea how to remove them after drying with micro sol. And apply them again???
Waterslide decals can't be reused. You're out of luck on the ones you used.
hpiguys Workshop to bad there is actually a way to reuse them. Apply micro Sol til it starts to wrinkle again just lift it up with a needle and with lots of luck you can get it off safely but these polar lights decals are to thin and to sticky so I'll just have to live with it

Thanks Archie!
Any idea when it's going on general release? :D
According to the link for Auto World posted in the description: ( www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/pol952.htm ) the release date is May 2018. You can pre-order now and the price is $24.99.
Where can you find this trek kits?
Is the kit out already? Where did you get it!!!?????
This was a review sample. Should be out this month. Thanks for watching!
Great review, great model and scale compared to their old larger scale warped plastic model, but they are way off on the different shades of blue on the decals. Hope they can correct them and make them available to every somehow without having to pay for them.
Very nice ship. I'm going to have to ask for one for Father's Day maybe
Easy build, you'll enjoy it.
Great video.
Thanks!
Can they be reinforced with some resin or light plaster

It's a nice kit, you'll enjoy it.
i did found a larger version of the USS Defiant made by AMT
Its a terrible kit that takes a huge amount of work to look good. Polar Lights kit is much better value
ok im prefuing the Polar Lights version
Awesome , Looks great
Thanks Rik!
You cool 😎
Super nice
Thanks!
Unfortunately there's no way a kid can follow these high speed instructions
Nice job...however, she's a fugly ship in general.
Perhaps today is a good day to die!
"Little!!??"
