@@justravs I WAS TALKING ABOUT YOUR EDITING LMAO but the scene too lol
@@bitterworkOH LMFAOOOO THANKIES
Her face is me trying to process why I got attracted to a hand flex all of a sudden 🤣
I feel like this movie is the perfect example of the female gaze and also how people become attractive as you get to know them. Like, they genuinely make Mr. Darcy more attractive as the movie goes on. and its such a great slow burn!!!
'female gaze' as such does not exist the way you're using it. 'male gaze' specifically means the way in our society women are depicted through the masculine heterosexual lens as objects for the pleasure of heterosexual male viewers. it's a specific word to name a specific way of misogynist oppression, not simply a male viewpoint of attraction. so tacking the world 'female' on instead to mean a female viewpoint of attraction is a false equivalence.
also describing the female view as inherently less shallow or more emotionally attached is no less gender essentialist just because those traits are deemed positive.
It is barely believable that this was directed by a man it’s so good
OMG WHAT
Joe Wright is GOAT
That scene of Mr Darcy walking in the field, at sunrise, awaken my delusional mind: the man did not sleep at all that night, pondering about his feelings and a life without Lizzy, and in an act of despair yet hopeful, he walked for hourzzzz (let's be real, the man doesn't live next door) to reach his beloveD, trying once more for his darling to put him out of his misery... With haste, he dressed up but did not take the time to button up his shirt (sexy Darcy 👀🤭) , he's walking in a determined fashion in those fields, the man knows, he is burning for her❤🔥❤🔥... I love those period romance stories
Everything about this comment is a MOOD
I assume he was staying the Bingley's, said to be three miles from the Bennet house, which at a normal human walking pace is only about an hour.
“I don’t know when she became my Lizzy but she’s my Lizzy now.”
Mr. Darcy: “It me.”
mrs bennet as kris jenner is the casting i never knew i needed -a life-long austen fan
Yoo its cool that you picked up on the super close family dynamic. The actors for all the Bennetts actually lived together during rehearsal and filming to create an authentic feeling of them knowing each other well and being very close!
That’s so cool what! 🥰
This movie is my biggest comfort movie. It is so witty and romantic, the characters feel alive in a way that its hard to explain. The whole story feels like a breath of fresh air even though it was written a couple centuries ago.Your reaction was everything!! Immediately subscribed
I feel the speechlessness of the proposal scene, so good
This is hilarious, Mr Darcy is now officially "Sad Boi" 😂
This movie has been my comfort activity that i ve been doing with my mom since i was a child😂❤
Omg that’s so cute 🥰
Check out the mini-series version, Mr. Darcy played by Colin Firth.....lake scene to die for...LOL! Take care young lady!
Ooooo 👀
@@justravs да согласна с вами. я считаю, что надо увидеть и версию с Колином Фёртом
Loved your reactions! Those sound effects were killing me 😂
I’m glad you enjoyed 🥹
I don’t know why, but your reaction to one of my favorite movies just made my day. I appreciate Darcy’s sad boy title very much 😂 He is just so awkward but adorable. I want to watch this movie with my girlfriends now and I do hope they enjoy just how funny this movie actually is.
Yayyyyy!!! I’m glad you enjoyed 🥰
6:54 just to give you a titbit of information on the regency era., It wasn’t out of the ordinary for cousins to marry, and FYI Mr. Collins is like a second or third cousin.
Yes, it isn't too clear from the book, as I remember, as to whether he was cousin to Mr. Bennet or to the daughters. It sort of gets passed off as he was a "distant" cousin. (Cousin is/was often used as a collective term for relations sort of vague.)
In Gone With The Wind (set in 1860's), Scarlett's father tells her the Melanie is going to marry Ashley and in that family, cousins often married.
I am loving that so many people are watching this movie now! Long time Austen fan, I love the books, mini-series over the years but this film has insanely beautiful cinematography. The infamous hand flex is probably the most well known achievement, but their dance is a jewel as well as Darcy walking across the moors. If memory serves, they had to use a laser pointer to help the actor walk that distance with the lighting.
Please watch North and South - a 4 episode mini series with Richard Armitage (BBC 2004). Soooo good!
I am working in a silent classroom and listening/watching this and I KEEP ALMOST LAUGHING STOP WHY ARE YOU SO HILARIOUS???
OMG STOP 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching hahahaha
I'm always so happy seeing people reaction to pride and prejudice. It's defitilely my favorite book, i saw the movie for the first time with my mother and she also is a big fan of pride and prejudice so it is our little thing. My boyfriend knowing this gifted me the blue ray of the hbo mini series and I immediately watched it with my mom. This story always gives me a cozy feeling.
girl I literally JUST saw a tiktok where someone played Possibility by Lykke Li from New Moon over the scene where Lizzie is spinning on the swing and it fit so perfectly 😂😂
I’m crying 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awweee i love this reaction but i wish it was longer 😅 the sound effects KILLED me
You'd love Bride & Predjudice (2004) with Aishwarya Rai. Its so good 😊
Omg!!!! How have I never heard of this 😭😭😭😭😭
@@justravs интересная версия этой истории. классические экранизации мне ближе. но как необычная и адаптированная к новому времени она стоит того, чтобы посмотреть её. я тоже думаю, что вам понравится. или уже понравилось)
THE HAND SCENE!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
0:28 first thing right out of the gate you enjoy Bollywood then I suggest you watch, bride and prejudice it’s a Bollywood spin on pride and prejudice!
I really enjoyed watching you watching P&P.. I've seen many of these, and yours stand out.. it's light and quizzical🙂
One of the most fun reactions I’ve ever seen
YAY! Glad you liked it 💖
i L O V E this movie
also great idea to watch the movie first, i read the book first (for school) and was SO lost, especially with like... time? like how soon or far apart events were and stuff
but after watching the movie, it all made perfect sense
i'm currently reading/listening to the audiobook of "most ardently" which is a retelling, where the main character is a trans man and it's really good so far (and there's lesbians in it too!)
@@SkwithOv i read this one not so long ago! it wasn't my thing lol but ill eat up any p&p retelling, especially if its queer
@@user-gx8ii3hl4l i'm trans-masc and sometimes into men so it's (so far, anyway) been really relatable :)
have you read any other queer p&p retellings?
I can’t wait to dive into the book omg
@@SkwithOv i haven't (yet), but i have my eye on "the story of lizzy and darcy", a wlw retelling i heard is good!
The hand scene 🤣🤣🤣
I WAS SHOOK
Not 3's company with you, mr darcy and your partner. 😂 wild i love this video. You are amazing.
Yay!! That movie is my all time favourite and I loved all your reactions!! ❤
Yayyyy I’m glad 🥰🥰
This movie is awesome. The BBC made a 1995 series which is also very good. You’ll get more character development in that one.
Oooo 👀 gonna check that out!
AHHH! I just found your channel and love seeing people find Austen's stuff for the first time. Your other content looks right up my alley too. I have to recommend the 2020 adaption of Emma if you liked this. The direction is just gorgeous and the chemistry between the leads is amazing. If you've ever seen Clueless you'll be familiar with the general plot as it was a modern adaption of Emma! I've also recently fallen in love with the 1995 adaption of Persuasion if second-chance romance is a trope you like. A lot of people prefer the 2007 version, but I like how accurate the 1995 version is and how they nail the sort of subtle yearning of the leads.
Ooooo👀👀👀 I’ll note these down
@@justravs я тоже советую посмотреть "Эмма". но если вы хотите и романтическую, а не только сатирическую версию, то советую иметь в виду также обе версии от 1996 года и версию от 2009 года
You have to read the book and see how dramatic Mr.Collins is 😂.
I’m on it !! 🤣🤣
A spectacular reaction, and you mentioned sapphic shows which means I gotta fly in and drop some recs!
For movies, if you haven't seen Portrait of a Lady on Fire then omg, similar vibes to this and amazing. Also, Princess Cyd, The Watermelon Woman, Go Fish, Circumstance, Pariah, Bound & The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love.
For shows, DICKINSON!!! and Yellowjackets?! I hope you've been partaking. Also, Sugar Rush, A League of their own...also, Buffy The Vampire Slayer features one of the first (if not the first?) canon lesbian relationship in primetime network TV and it's worth the while. I would eat up reactions to any of these but also just generally recommending cause I can't help myself, even if you enjoy in private! I know this is a lot, but I'm a big media consumer, so I will emphasize that I stand behind ALL of these recs 10000%.
Omg omg omg thank you for all of this 😍🥹 can’t wait to check this list out!
@@justravs enjoy 🙌🙌
This has been my FAVORITE reaction to one of my favorite movies. The fastest subscribe ive ever done!
Omg stop 😭🥰 thank you!!!!
I think that you may also love the excellent 1995 BBC TV version of Pride and Prejudice, with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth (my favorite Mr. Darcy).
After you read the book, might I suggest that you try watching the 1995 miniseries with Colin Firth
Could you be the one of the first to not buy Mr. Charming's story? Sad boy has more than one reason to protect himself, his family and his friend. Every mother on earth trying to solicit their daughters to him, protection of his sister and can only direct his friend from his own experiences. However, he was a bit pompous in doing so. Until he got the Lizzy smack down. He did the work without expectation to better himself. And she grew to be more understanding of herself as well. Jane Austin's happily ever after story's written for her sister and for herself.
Sad boi - come back!! 🤣
In the kindest way possible, I have never disliked watching a reaction of pride and prejudice more.
Awww sorry you feel that way but I have to be honest this comment made me crack up 🤣!!!
You should watch the BBC series!
Lol at how you grabbed the tiny lantern during the middle of the night scene with Lady de Bourgh 😭
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you want to get a version that will take you closer to the book, watch the BBC miniseries from 1995. So much more time to develop the story and Colin Firth as Darcy, you would enjoy it!
This is the second comment I’ve read that’s said this and I’m now so excited to check that out too!!
if you like this you might like Mr. Malcom's List, it's a great modern take on this era of historical romance that really captures what works about the original's inspiration like pride and prejudice
You NEED to watch the 2020 Emma film.
If you love bollywood you would enjoy the Indian version of pride and prejudice I low-key love it more
Omg THERES AN INDIAN VERSION
Fave trivia: Jane and Bingley were actually exes irl when they shot this!
WHAT VDJZJAKA ARE THE SOUND EFFECTS SO GOOD FOR ? 😂
If you ever watch the 1995 BBC miniseries (please.do), I hope you'll react to each part foe.the channel! You'll find out why Gen X has been in love with Colin Firth for 30 years.
5:36 see you get it!
I know of four filmed adaptations of this story (that stick to the original storyline), a 1940 black-n-white version, a 1980's (I think) 6-part series, the 1990's series, and this movie. The '80's version is pretty bad in my opinion, in being slow and sort of emotionless. The 1940 version is a bit different - the story is told from a lighter view. (This movie used the town waddling geese movement from the Pictures at an Exhibition, which is mocking the way the Bennet mother and daughters act together.) But it is interesting to see.
I have to admit I saw both the '40 version and the 1990's one, and didn't really get into either. After watching this 2005 movie, I went back and read the book and rewatched the earlier ones, enjoying all of them more and more. Took me awhile to figure out who was related to whom by what connection. (I also went to watch the 2005 version after watching Red, White & Royal Blue - 100x - to see a romcom from an earlier era.)
на самом деле, версий ещё больше. которые, как вы пишете, придерживаются оригинальной сюжетной линии.
Why am I a child...the fart sound effect made me 😆😄😆
Mr. Collins and Mrs. Bennet are representing the common sense marriage typical of that day. Since Mr. Collins will inherit the Bennet property, if he marries one of the Bennet girls, it will provide a way for them all to remain in the house they love. Lizzie and Darcy are actually being really impractical, but it all works out because he is hella rich.
guys!! mr. darcy has prob got a drink at whites with anthony bridgerton!!
It wasn't unusual to marry cousins historically. Some cultures still do it. Ugh!!!
I knowwwww ! I just can’t stand it cause I picture my cousins lmfao
I don’t see how you can do a reaction and it gives a movie justice in 20 minutes, especially when the first six or seven is you talking in the movie? Hasn’t even started so really in 15 minutes. No.
