I'm really thrilled with all your work and grateful for how much light you shed on these early modules (more, too, like Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure, which is surprisingly poorly covered on UA-cam), but I want to push back just a little bit against one of your suggestions here. On players wanting to burn it down, I think it would be a mistake to just try and rule this out, as you do around 6:39, and I don't think the "log structure" or "fresh cut" explanations are great for trying to take that choice away from them. The module has presumed this approach, and the lower floor of the steading has locations assigned to where the upper-level forces will have retreated to in the case of the players torching the upstairs. Thanks again for all your help and keep up this great work, and thanks for listening to a less-experienced DM's thoughts on something you know very well from both sides of the DM screen.

G-1 was the first module I bought. I recall the evocative nature of the cover and artwork - inspiring. Never ran it though. I do have plans on incorporating the series into my RQG game.

Ran this for my group. They were captured and sold to the Drow.

More great content that either takes me back or helps fill in the gaps. Played this around 1985. Seem to remember we did a lot of sneaking about and had a ton of fun with it. Would love to see all the rest. Desert of Desolation series too if you have that available.

I have Desert of Desolation and have run it in the past. I will feature it down the line on the channel.

G1 set the tone for my original group of gamers. And because I ran it, and the whole series thru Q1 (we had to wait for that one to come out a few months) and everyone loved the campaign so much, I ended up as forever DM 8>D Learned so much from the G-series! Can't say enough good things.

The G series was very formative for me in AD&D.

@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 Re-watching it because I am using pieces and parts of some older modules, TSR and Judges Guild stuff, in my latest and hopefully last world build. I'd like to do some time playing a PC actually too. However, I never ran T1-4 Hommlet/Temple of Evil or the Slavers. Do they really tie in that tight to GDQ? I'm looking to have 3-4 parallel storylines going so the players have lots to pick from. Might get em if they do knit together even if just to get some flavor for something I largely build a'cappella

The G Series is probably my favorite--keep the videos coming! I'm trying to see if my current group will take the bait and do this module: their characters have heard of the Hill Giant Chief, but are off rescuing two of the PCs from another situation. If they do go after the giants, I don't think it will end well for them. They're a remarkable blend of overly-cautious AND not very cunning, so I'm anticipating some half-assed approach that will get most (if not all) of them killed.

After running this several times here is my advice. Have an npc hire the party with some powerful magic items, you should include a giant slaying sword. Have the npc explain he sent two other groups, one was wiped out and the other had one survivor (who had the sword). Tell the party the one survivor told him they launched a head on attack and were slaughtered. The survivor recommended a more stealthy group give it a try as it is murder to use brute force against the giants. A wand of lightning would also be appropriate if the party has a Elf fighter/mage. Human Magic Users may have a very difficult time with this module

This was really good and took me back! Would you consider doing Village of Hommlett and Temple of Elemental Evil? Thnx! 👍
