This was a great video and very informative. I have been looking into cost of ownership for the Vision and also a TBM. The fixed maintenance cost packages offered through these manufacturers are great programs and really help owners and operators know what they are getting for the cost of ownership. Again, great video!

Answering the tough questions, Don! I've always been curious about annual training costs, and especially about fuel when I've been around when you've been refueling, but I always felt it was inappropriate to ask. It's another excellent video that no one else out there is really doing.

Interesting how they do their programs. I like it. What kind of mount is that for your GoPro between your seats? I’m always looking for better mounts/solutions. Cessna programs only include parts, labor, and engines. No training, data, navigation subscriptions, or anything like that. Cool. Simplifies bookkeeping!

Hi Pete! Love your videos! Cirrus was wise to create a predictable cost of operation and remove expensive risks for new owners when they came up with the JetStream program. Here is the arm I use, which is attached to a GoPro mount on the ceiling SUREWO Aluminum Alloy Extension Arm Metal Pole Mount Extension Stick Mount Compatible with GoPro Hero 12/11/10/9/8/7/6/5 Black,APEMAN/AKASO/TENKER/DJI Osmo Action and More (Black) a.co/d/8wiVXa8

Great information. I’m assuming doing the volunteer flights help with writing off some expenses of ownership.

It doesn't. You can only deduct the cost of the fuel for the trip.

I tried to sign up for Cirrus SF50 training out of Knoxville and they insisted I need a tail number. I’m fully rated but don’t own a jet. Is there a solution other than buying one? Thanks.

They own the program and the 142 certificate for the type rating. They have a limited capacity for training slots and SIM slots. They require all pilots to be associated with an aircraft. Why would you want to pay for a type rating without an aircraft or opportunity? Not everyone has $31,000 plus expenses and two weeks to spend without having an opportunity for to fly.
You can try to lease a jet but Cirrus may or may not accept that as enough to give you a training slot. There really isn’t any other recognized type rating training insurance would accept.

Applying for a position without being typed is difficult. Chicken before the egg? I wanted the type rating so that I could apply for instructor slots in Florida and/or Seattle.

@@JZainbear I get it, but it’s the hardest path. Normally you would instruct for a while and then given the opportunity to move into the jet. The type rating is one step and then building time and experience isn’t cheap.

There are many great flight instructor opportunities out there. Cirrus is usually hiring and that might help you get to where you want to go. Let me know if I can offer any tips. Keep pushing!
