Professional Vision Jet Pilot Gets Tested at Cirrus Aircraft and Fly's to Nashville
Join me on an exhilarating journey as a professional pilot takes the sleek and innovative Vision Jet back to it's hangar in Nashville after getting tested in Knoxville! In this exciting video, we’ll explore the cutting-edge features of the Vision Jet, known for its state-of-the-art technology and luxurious design. Experience the thrill of flight as we navigate through turbulence, and stormy sky's after completing an annual FAR 61.58 Pilot Proficiency Check (aka recurrent training). Don Medine is a professional pilot with SF50 Flight Support, LLC, a company founded to provided comprehensive support services for Vision Jet owners, operators and pilots.
I delayed departure from McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville, TN due to hazardous weather throughout the morning and early afternoon. Departure was off of runway 23L and we encountered clouds shortly thereafter. We flew to join the SWFFT2 Arrival Procedure and landed on runway 02C at the Nashville International Airport.
Discover what makes the Vision Jet a game-changer in the aviation industry and learn about the pilot's firsthand experience flying this remarkable aircraft. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, aspiring pilot, or just curious about private jet travel, this video offers an inside look at the world of professional flying. Thanks for watching and the request. The cameras I use are GoPro and they do not have sensors that work well in low light. The avionics panel and displays are all you can really see. This is why I do not record videos of night flights. It’s mainly due to a limitation related to cameras.

Pilots can verify it’s all working by checking the pressurization and differential pressure incrementally during climbs. It is also a good idea to check pressurization prior to landing to make sure the outflow valves have reduced pressurization. It would be uncomfortable pooping open a door with the cabin pressurized. Better to use FLC for the climb not VS , FLC mode will prevent accidental stalls , VS for decent! Either is fine however FLC is good habit for the climb

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 16 днів тому

      @@docgi1 Thanks for the comments. Using FLC is taught as a fundamental technique. I agree, it is impractical to descend in FLC, but the hard rule does not apply to VS in the climb. I generally transition to FLC out of the initial climb and find what the climb rate will be based upon ISA. If I am going to have more than 1500 FPM of climb in FLC, I mightl use VS and take advantage of improved ground speed. The technique of only using FLC for climb is an over simplification as certain aircrafts only climb in VS. Most experienced pilots do not climb into a stall and practice autopilot stalls for recovery. To your point, FLC protects pilots not paying attention to decaying airspeed. I would need to loose 70-100 KIAS before entering stall regime.

    • @docgi1
      @docgi1 16 днів тому

      @@DonAv8s I agree , in citation type rating training FLC is a strong recommendation for the climb for envelope protection ( maybe the type for the vision is different as far as climb mode recommendations)although typical climb depending on load and ISA is 3000 fpm for the C510 , if one gets overloaded with weather and ATC using VS mode in the climb airspeed can insidiously degrade particularly in ice

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 16 днів тому

      @@docgi1 I have mentored a couple Citation pilots than we’re typed in SF50. Both were taught to use VS in climb since Citations sometimes have excess thrust and FLC caused too much pitch attitude at times if you flew a standard climb speed profile. Both had a hard time transitioning to FLC. It all boils down to indicated airspeed at the end of the day. I should have mentioned that when the SF50 is in climb in FLC, the indicated airspeed is not fixed. The profile starts at 165 KIAS but declined on its own as the climb happens. It can go as low as about 115 KIAS as you get to FL310. That is in FLC and you will see the Vref bug coming up and that can be worrisome.

      PPP, this is a bit of a mystery since it’s not used for much. I have seen % of power at around 34% with N1 showing at or above 100%. On most approaches I set power once fully configured and on short final to 25% power and that generally carries speed to VRef for landing, depending upon winds. Thats the only time I refer to it (besides looking for the “T” when takeoff power is set). I get a lot of questions about % of power and why it seems like I am flying around leaving thrust unused. Actually, the % indication is only around 70% even when throttle is in T/O at sea level. I have recurrent next week and I will have to ask for a deeper understanding.

    Do you have auto tilt on your radar? I use that a lot, comes in handy when climbing or descending.

      There is auto tilt even in manual mode. The auto mode is fully automatic with gain and tilt.

      That's funny. I was probably distracted and drug out the callsign. I definitely had two Paw Paws growing up as a kid from Louisiana. I really didn't hear myself or catch that.

    Hi Don, Thanks for the video. Was it odd learning(?) to fly with the side stick? I have never flown with one and have always wondered about how different it would be from a center, standard yoke (like a Piper)?

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 21 день тому

      Hello and thanks for watching! It was not difficult transitioning into the side stick. I was accustomed to controlling banks with my left hand anyway so it was pretty simple. It’s harder working the side stick from the right side but also something you get used too.

    Fantastic video. I’ve recently found your channel and these are some great videos. That camera placement provides what I like to call the best seat in the house. Nice job with the single pilot IFR workload…that vision jet is really nice to say the least. I like how throughout the flight your talking aircraft specs and performance data for those of us not familiar with that aircraft. Again great video and looking forward to future flights.
