Don't understand the negative comments here. The pedal sounds awesome through the Vox in this video. Great raw tone.

The MT2 is a great pedal, I don't care what anyone says. The MT2w is even better. I just played one today after looking forward to it all week and it absolutely kills in the custom mode. As a long time mt2 user, I'm willing to bet that I won't have to defend this version to anyone. It's a homerun for boss and so far everyone seems to agree that they perfected it with the custom mode. I like it even more than my analogman mt2 which I thought would not be the case.
That said, you have to remember a few things about using a metal zone (which I guarantee most people that hate it don't realize)...
You gotta think of it as a preamp.
Put it into the fx loop if possible. It sounds best here. However, if you must go through the front end of your amp, you really don't need to dime the gain like at all. If you're playing metal, you want your amp to already be cooking a little bit. Take advantage of the MT2s incredible EQ, especially the mids. And finally, never use it into an el84 amp, especially a Vox/Orange. The combination just does not sound good. I can't believe this demoer just didn't stick with a hot rod deluxe, like he talked about getting a killer tone from. Because I do agree with this guy in that the HRD and mt2 is a fantastic combo running directly into the fx loop. Fender loops are awesome for pedals. But as you can see in this demo, it just doesn't sound good with el84s.

    Thank you for this video.
I discovered the high gain distorsion pedals in the return of the effects loop with your first video on the Metal Zone and the Fullbore Metal, so in 2015 way before the Ola Englund's video and all the others. It works very well. Now I see the preamp as a "bad" pedal for extreme metal.
But, more recently, I tried again the Metal Zone in front of the preamp (Orange amp), and I think that it can also be very good (for death metal at least), with the right settings.

Metal zones and Vox amps do not mix well at all.

seems like every time I hear a similar "metal" distortion the demos are EQ adjusted so utterly terrible I do not wonder why this pedal has gotten such a bad rep by so many. I had the Keeley mod version some time ago and I used to get a pretty damn good intense sound out of it. Adjust the low end punch and trim the highs somewhat not to get that overtly treble buzz bomb fizz out. I am sure the Waza is better as they even improved the Boss buffers which I have never been a fan. Like anything else, it can indeed be adjusted really badly and seems like everyone in the demos has this trimmed off no low end bees in a can sound, I would hate it too. Can be a fun pedal and I am sure the Waza version can be dialed in better than I have been hearing.
