You can't do 2 things with the same USB output... So, for example, use the USB output to stream to the web and the composite video out to record to a DVD recorder or other input on your computer.
I recently purchased VR-3. I am trying to set it up for remote via MIDI in/out connectors. Using Cubase 5, I can see that the program actually respond to cameras, but I still can't figure it out how to record switching cameras into track as a midi signal. Any help with this? Thx.
I was under the impression you have to choose either stresm or record to the web, but not both. How can you do both? I have mac w/ QT record and have not worked out the stream, I guess youtube though....
Good tutorial, but I have got a problem when I want to use lower thirds from my PC to overlay on output, using apps like Photoshop or After Effects with an alpha channel. Can you please advise on how to go about because the example here looks like a powerpoint in full screen.
We use Keynote or Powerpoint in full screen mode so you can key out a background color for a lower third title. You can create your titles in Photoshop using a black, white or Green or Blue background and then play it back in a full screen mode using the above presentation programs. Let us know if this helps.

If you want to record and stream we recommend using a DVD recorder from the HDMI outputs on the new VR-3EX and stream out the USB port to your streaming provider. In many cases the streaming provider does offer recording of your "Live Broadcast" so that can be an option for you as well.
Why not just get Wirecast?, I'm not being funny, but these units are incredibly expensive, and are subject to poor switching. Let's say I want to lay titles over three different cameras, and have the ability of green screening on all three of those camera simultaneously, while at the same time having an input free for digital video. None of this seems possible. This is why many prefer software switchers over hardware. They can be built to a specific standard, and are tonnes cheaper.
Why not buy a real vision mixer second hand with lots of proper effects and SVideo quality inputs. Guess you didnt research it enough to know what loads of great seconds hand gear is out there cheap at the moment.
This unit has come waaaaay too late in the day. Composite input video - hello??? SVIDEO is found on most mixers. This is like a 1980 mixer if its input quality is only Composite.
