I was still playing eith a star wars ship that I wasn't playing with before I built it. Legos are amazing
I think that is WAY better than the previous UCS, that old one looks really blocky and dated. Shame it´s missing the landing gear, but still that is by far the best looking X-Wing what Lego has done. And looking the bottom of the set you can easily add landing gear if you like so.
I do think the one thing that people forget is that you're not building a traditional model set. its LEGO, if you don't like the wing length or the lack of landing gear then modify them on your own! I will personally be redesigning the wings on my X-wing to be a few studs longer, and I might add landing gear but i'm not sure yet. Don't let the build get in the way of you making it the way YOU wanna make it, you can always change it back anyway.

It feels to me like it's a UCS set made by looking at playset and not at real pictures of the X-wing. Every error that playset versions of x-wing made are here too. I just can't get over the flat nose.
Set 75275 was released in 2020 and is a UCS A-Wing. Generally under-rated imo because A-Wings just aren't as popular as other ships, but it is an amazing model and looks incredible on display
X-foils... I don't have either of the previous two UCS X-wings, so I'll definitely be picking this one up. Now, if only they'd release a new UCS B-wing...
I was really on the fence with this set, not really sure if I wanted to jump at the chance to order one right when they come out, but honestly your review really sealed the deal for me! Super excited for this and the MIDI Executor to release!
What I'm looking forward to see is if anyone sticks the larger R2D2 head on this set from the 30611 polybag - the biggest issue I have with the set with the S-foils out is how invisible and out of scale R2 is, and I can't help but wonder if too big would be better than too small - on par with the engines - what I think this set really needed was a new 3x3 R2 head and some slopes/arches for the tops of his legs, rather than a minifigure (which could just be included on the stand)
There's an image on Reddit where someone did that. It's way too big. Artoo is actually scaled about right for this ship. Yes his head and body is just a tad small, but when you take in consideration the legs as well, he's about right. The problem is he's too low. He should sit higher. I think two plates higher.
Easily should have included a brickbuilt R2 to make him in scale. I could be wrong, but to me a 3x3 (not sure if that exists though) or 4x4 dome for his head rather than the minifgure's 2x2 would be much better scaled. That way they could still have included the minifigure too. For a UCS set, slapping a minifigure R2 in a gap feels VERY low effort.
4x4 would look way too big though and then you’d have people complaining about that instead of just getting a nice minifig. 3x3 would be the ideal size probably but there aren’t any elements that could make a dome that size in Lego right now
Theirs two types of people in this world, people who bought the 2013 set and are mad they've already released a new one so hate it, and those who didn't buy the 2013 version and therefore love the new 2023 version
Just an FYI for people interested in this set. I purchased this set during the May the 4th, 2024 sale and my set seems to have fixed some of the issues. The canopy piece was now in it's own bag so no scratches and the instruction manual images showing you how to pick it up have been fixed. The stand is still exactly the same as in this review from what I can tell, but it does not fall apart. I have had the set on my desk for a few weeks and it shakes quite a bit from my movements and it has never fallen apart even once and seems pretty sturdy. Not sure if they tweaked the tolerances on those slope parts or what but mine are fine.
Wish Lego would make an X-Wing in mostly shades of gray again like their very first one was. The X-Wing was never white and pristine looking in any of the films.
Having seen that they got the angle to go down the whole length of the thing and not just the standard big hinge bricks making these sharper angles, that makes a huge difference in my opinion of the set because the official images really don't capture that detail. One quality of life thing with the set that I would change though is the nose, and not so much the size, but the color would be better if it were gray. The X-Wing is a difficult ship in Star Wars to replicate colorwise because technically it is white, but there's so much grit and grime slapped on it that it looks more gray, and so there's really just no way to emphasize that since LEGO never decided to expand their Very Light Gray palette that was only really relegated to tiny pieces in obscure mosaics and a few Bionicle sets, but had the nose been gray, that helps differentiate it from the rest of the ship, and perhaps that sloping would have been more noticeable and really helped sell it through the official images. I don't know. It's not a set for me, but I have a greater appreciation for it than what the official images conveyed. If ever I were to get a UCS X-Wing, it would probably be the original from 2000 if I could get it at a decent price. That's just the era of LEGO Star Wars I enjoy most because it's what I grew up with, and not to knock a number of sets these days, but we've left the realm of Star Wars made of LEGO and just gone into Star Wars replicas that happen to be LEGO, even the playsets, and a lot of charm is missing in newer sets, despite how incredible they look, that is felt in most 15+ years old LEGO Star Wars sets, including the UCS X-Wing from 2000, dreaded STAMPs and all.
Not sure how many others out there feel this way, but I would much prefer minifigure scale starfighters for UCS sets. I get it that you get more "wow" factor and more details with a larger model, but they take up too much display space and it bothers me that they don't match the scale of the larger minfigure scale UCS sets like the Falcon or AT-AT. Obviously you can't have larger capital ships in the same scale, but I think it would be good to have as much of a unified scale as possible among the UCS sets. I'm 47 and only started buying Lego collector sets recently, so I don't have very many sets. I have the UCS AT-AT and I'm considering the UCS Falcon and the Razorcrest. I've been thinking about getting some starfighters to go with them and at this point I'm most likely going to end up getting some MOC minifigure scale fighters. They will cost me similar money or maybe more than the UCS fighters, but they scale better (and in some cases look better) than the UCS sets which is more important to me. I would rather buy official UCS sets with plaques and exclusive minifigures, but they are just way too large imo. I really hope Lego considers smaller UCS starfighter sets going forward, but if they just released this new X-Wing I imagine they plan to continue to do the other starfighters in the same scale.
One thing no one is saying that drives me crazy is that the wings open too wide! I don’t think this set is going to do well because its being overshadowed by the rumoured venator. Once that one is announced ill make a decision on which ill be getting
Biggest problem I have with this model is there are more models that need a new UCS update / version. B-Wing, Imperial shuttle, Tie interceptor, Tie Advanced, OR ones we haven't seen yet, U-wing, The Ghost, GR-75 Transport, Hammerhead or even an updated X-Wing T-70 (maybe in Poe black). While I dont dislike this kit (aside from the engines) I just feel Lego could have waited a few more years before an update and given new life to kits that are not on a 3rd version.
Having both the first and second version I have to say I am stoked for the third! The comparison you make between v2 and v3 here pretty much sums up what I thought about v1 vs v2 :) I agree with your thoughts when comparing v2 and v3. Great review! I'll have the opportunity to compare the 3 of them soon! :) As for the wing length, I think that is easy to mod if you wanna try (I might). The studs on the side I think is a nice touch - sort of a retro nod from a set heavily depending on SNOT.
No idea why this is getting so much hate. It looks awesome. Not everyone managed to pick up the first two. Plus, it’s from the original trilogy which is obviously the best set of Star Wars movies with the most iconic ships. Will defo pick this up at some time.
Completely agree with you. My first thought was the wing span looked to be a little short in the initial photos. Could be incredible though with a few mods. Is the wing span comparable to the older sets? Looks like the body of this new set would go well with the older wings??
Honestly, I feel like 2bricks's x wing model is immensely superior to this one, albeit probably not as stable as an official set (though even that's debatable, 2bricks is an incredible builder)
I first thought the engines looked too big but looking closer at the source material it’s actually very very accurate! I love this set as a se like 9.2/10 but as what it is it doesn’t excite me as someone who’s just gotten into ucs sets I still think we could’ve got something cooler
The 2013 Set just looks so much more proportioned. Like they could have only made it a little smoother and tiles on the side would be an improvement. But fattening it up is such overkill. Great Review :)
I had the 2013 version that was new in box; I sold that set to buy this 2023 version. What steered me towards this version was the angled sides of the ship, which is more accurate to the real model.
00:47 TBH I would rather had a new UCS Tie Interceptor than another x wing. Would’ve tied in better with the 40th anniversary of ROTJ given that it was the first appearance of the Tie Interceptor. That or I really wish they’d do a remake of the B Wing, again because it was only featured in ROTJ.
I am not sure but I think the engine look off to you because the 2013 ones were way smaller and less acurate overall. But somehow people are having issues with the more accurate one?
12:08 I picked up the set yesterday, for the longest time I was thinking of purchasing the original 2013 version but seeing it compared to the newer one I am very happy I got the new one, also feel like the 2013 one looks very grievous esc with the laser cannons being so skinny
After watching this I’m even more skeptical of SBS‘s opinion on the prices of lego sets. It’s a great review, and I appreciate that we get reviews of sets before the become available to help us better inform our purchases, but with Lego “gifting” the sets to the ambassadors they’ve lost some of their touch with those of us who must budget our lego spending (due to money, space, or other). Still a good review and a good looking set.
Well... price to part ratio has actually gotten better after 10 years. We can argue the price of the 2013 set being crazy but can't complain too much about the 240 price tag when talking about 2023 prices. You have some crazy expensizlve sets these days
Looking at the wings I think it is the ratio of wing to engine that throws it off. With the model there you can see that the length of the wing is around 3x the diameter of the engine intake. With the lego intakes being 6 studs then that would make the distance from the engine to the wingtip 18 studs. But it looks to be 15. Which would have been perfect were the engines 5 studs but I get that would have been awkward to do. The other limiting factor would be the angle of the trailing edge of the wing with what angle plates they have. If you make them longer then you have to either make the starting edge longer or the outside egde is shorter with the same angle. The only 2 things that really bother me are the shaping of the nose and the lack of landing gear. Even the play sets have a nose gear so little disappointed that they didn't add any for a set of this price and when it's branded as "ultimate".
Honestly... The original Ultimate Collector's Series X Wing looks absolutely hilarious in comparison. I have seen someone make a complete ground up rebuild of the new one, basically a MOC at the UCS scale/size, and it leaves the official set in the dust. No gaps between the wings, much better geometry of the entire shape of the fighter as a whole, more detailed greebling, no holes in the sides of the fuselage when the wings are open... But I worry an official set at that level would cost $500. 💀
I don't like the overal looks of this set. Compare it to the UCS Y-wing and you can just tell the Y-wing is put together in a much better way with more detail especially on the bottom side of the model. I'm not sure if the X-wing's engines are slightly too big but because R2 is just way too small it looks odd, same as the general detailing on the inside of the wings. I guess I'll need to wait another 10 years until LEGO gets it right.
I just started the build and the canopy was just loose in the box, it’s now all scratched up, not happy!!!! Why couldn’t they put it in a seperate plastic bag.
Good review, particularly the comparison with the previous version. They are both out of proportion, which is perplexing because it seems like making the wings longer would have been a simple solution. I wouldn't mind building this set, but the end result just doesn't seem worth the price.
The form of the windshield is plain out wrong - should get narrower to the front not wider...also the top angle from cockpit to nose is only represented by one plate...
@@guilhermembs While my opinion hasn't changed, I must say it has grown on me. I caved and got the set because I desperately wanted to see it in person. After a few weeks of having built it, I think this set is very good with the exception of the color. Unfortunately this set heavily relies on viewing it from the right angles. I have it displayed in the tilted position and it looks very good. Just wish it wasn't so white and more gray.
In my opinion there are too many ucs sets so it causes that some of them looks like they were build/developed in hurry. The same is with this model, wrong scale, R2-D2 doesn't match the scale, engines are too big, wings too short and also this mistake with length of the xwing.
Just finished mine and I am.pretty pissed about the way the wings are attached. Not just the way the brown pims are visible. I can live with that. It is the huge cap between the wings and the fusalage. I check the instructions multiple times, maybe i should have move the tech bricks a little further in, but that isnt the case. It is a major design flaw. That plus the enormous gap between the wings. Not something I cared a lot about, but it adds up. Also all the gaps between the segments arent great. Not sure but I thing some enhanced 2x1 plates could have fixed this. Then there are the caps between the canopy and the cockpit. And not to forget the gaps between the cylinder parts on the lasers. That is there ok, but it is photoshopped away on the box art. False advertising, just as with the moldmark on the plaque. Ok I like the way they did the hexagonshape alright, and so all the details. But the proportions are way off. Without the wings attached, it looks like something my wife has hidden in her nightstand for some private time. The big bulky nose makes that comparisment even stronger. I am afraid I am not the one in the family who will play with this. But then again...when you grap it at the wromg spot (underneath the wings at the panels), parts will fall off. Just as with the stand. Any positive about this set? Well like I said, details are great. Cockpit is noce. Engine are good. Hexagon shape is very well done. Price for the amount of stuff is better than the 2013 one. The printed plaque besides the false advertisement is still a huge improvement in comparisment with a sticker. The turnknob is a clever design. The wings do lock innposition. Some other minor flaws: no landing gear and R2d2 is not at scale. Btw, it is easy to fix the issue with r2d2 not able to peek outside its compartment. I added a spare round tile on it's bottom, which gives r2d2 just the right height. Simple as that. Well better li k next time. I just feel stupid I didnt wait for more reviews. Nothing wrong with the review in here, but every person sees other things. Well at least it isnt a total rip-off. It is just not the best Lego could have designed. Maybe I am.just spoiled with some other recent big sets like the razor crest.
Currently building it and the thing that is driving me nuts (and you mention here) is how flimsy the panels are secured. I think the model looks great so far but jeez, you mis-pick up the model in the wrong piece, something is going to fall off.
Did u experience any issues when placing the wings on the set? I’ve been struggling to get the set to stay together even tho I’ve constructed it correctly
I don’t really get it as it’s not mini fig scale? Like which way are we going all ucs = minifig scale or not ? As it’s so close like studs away from being that size why not just make it minifig scale
I was thinking for those 2 half base plates you could have it be an area for the park where employees get ready. Where they get on their costumes and stuff. Like a secret entrance though the wall. Maybe have a small ice cream shop at the front so guests have no idea that it is what it is.

I was really on the fence with this set, not really sure if I wanted to jump at the chance to order one right when they come out, but honestly your review really sealed the deal for me! Super excited for this and the MIDI Executor to release!
I got the box yesterday and the windshield was packaged in a plastic wrap. And the stand issue has nicely changed in a better version.
Best x-wing Lego has ever designed, bar none. Not even close.
6:36 they're called s-foils as opposed to X-foils. It stands for strike foils.
That is why the OG UCS X-WING is THE GOAT THE GOAT!!!
Please bring out the OG UCS and compare all three. Seeing another X-Wing after the already remade 2013 still hasn’t sold me on this new one.
The engines are the correct size. They were to small on the old one
I haven't bought a UCS set before and I like that this isn't $500+. I think this may be my first!
I just cant unsee how goofy R2 looks smushed between those MASSIVE engine pieces
I wonder if this printed cockpit piece will be available in pick a brick service. I would like to buy one for my 2013 X- Wing.
I strongly agree.
A new version of the USC Tie Fighter can't be too far away. Can't wait for that.
@@J.C.180 Yeah, but it will most likely be the usual starfighter UCS scale which I'm not interested in. I want UCS minifigure scale starfighters.
Interesting to hear that there will be a fix for the stand.
One thing no one is saying that drives me crazy is that the wings open too wide! I don’t think this set is going to do well because its being overshadowed by the rumoured venator. Once that one is announced ill make a decision on which ill be getting
This was a very forgiving review for a far from perfect $240 UCS X-Wing
May the force be with you awesome review
Exactly what I was thinking Awesome Retro mod/ Nod instead of plain Vanilla
Except for the jets on the 2013 one. They look way too small.
that just isn't true have you googled an X-wing. The 2023 is accurate
@@mrcharles3061 I know what you mean. But there just so big. I at least find it pretty irritating.
@@valentinstark402 then you find the xwing design irritating
I totaly agree with you , 2013 looks better on the shelf, expecialy compared to the movie x wing!!!
Wooooow I originally hated the new one but once you put it next to the old one the new one just looks so much better wow thanks :D
They really have to make a UCS Venator Class Republic Star Destroyer I’ve always wanted one of those!
Adding an extra rubber band to the mechanism if you can should help the wings close better, that is what I did in previous models.
I am not sure but I think the engine look off to you because the 2013 ones were way smaller and less acurate overall. But somehow people are having issues with the more accurate one?
I still remember the pain of putting that sticker 10 years ago
12:08 I picked up the set yesterday, for the longest time I was thinking of purchasing the original 2013 version but seeing it compared to the newer one I am very happy I got the new one, also feel like the 2013 one looks very grievous esc with the laser cannons being so skinny
when I opened the box I found that the canopy was not in a bag like the rest but separate and scratched a bit
Bro, did you say opening the X-foils?!?!
So how will we know when Lego fixes the pieces that fall off when you move the x-wing around?
Better than expected. I’m happy
I was on the fence about maybe waiting to pick this up.
Seeing all the positive reviews it looks like I’m grabbing this.
I'm having trouble with the knob that controls the wings. It's not locking in place. I must have done something wrong.
Just placed my order! Thank you for the review, mate!
So, what do you think?
Have you built yours yet?
I just started the build and the canopy was just loose in the box, it’s now all scratched up, not happy!!!!
Why couldn’t they put it in a seperate plastic bag.
I like the new model. Thanks for the review.
Good review, particularly the comparison with the previous version. They are both out of proportion, which is perplexing because it seems like making the wings longer would have been a simple solution. I wouldn't mind building this set, but the end result just doesn't seem worth the price.
Atleast put it beside a Tie Fighter/Interceptor UCS? for size comparison
I like it , but going to cover those studs with same colour flat smooth plates! It will look so much better.
Can we get the nose parts in grey? I like the grey nose better than the white one.
Great review. One point of reference that bugged me in the video - S-Foils. Not X-Foils
Does he keep saying x foils? Isn’t it S foils?
Yeah, he's definitely saying X-foils... And yes, it's S-foils AKA strike/stability foils.
You and Tiago Catarino uploaded this review at the exact same time, to the second 😂😂😂
And the Brick Wiz lol
The form of the windshield is plain out wrong - should get narrower to the front not wider...also the top angle from cockpit to nose is only represented by one plate...
My only complaint is how white the x wing is. I think it should've been a shade of gray or something darker than white, at least the nose.
The thrusters are too small for the engines in my opinion. Looks off. How can they upscale the one thing but not the other.
Good review and has me thinking about picking up more so then before. I still have the original X-Wing from 2000 and never got the 2013 one.
Canopy is same as 2013 so we have a part to replace the stickered one? :) Great review BTW
Where’d you get the shelving units in the background?
Awesome review! Thanks!
I think the UCS X-Wing and Gunship aren’t horribly off of scale from each other?
In my opinion there are too many ucs sets so it causes that some of them looks like they were build/developed in hurry.
The same is with this model, wrong scale, R2-D2 doesn't match the scale, engines are too big, wings too short and also this mistake with length of the xwing.
The nose and blaster tips need to be LBG hope I can find all the parts in the right color 😂
@@scoutstar true. But ok, it is ment to display, but still it isnt ok.
I can't wait for someone to make improvements on the wing length and post a video about it.
Did u experience any issues when placing the wings on the set? I’ve been struggling to get the set to stay together even tho I’ve constructed it correctly
Can we get something new like a UCS Naboo Royal Starship?
I don’t really get it as it’s not mini fig scale? Like which way are we going all ucs = minifig scale or not ? As it’s so close like studs away from being that size why not just make it minifig scale
when i get it im probably gonna replace the tip pieces with light gray, i can’t get over the white
I thought seeing it in hand would change my mind but nope, doesn't seem to be on the same level as other recent UCS sets
finally someone who thinks the engines looked funky, i thought that was just me
I was thinking for those 2 half base plates you could have it be an area for the park where employees get ready. Where they get on their costumes and stuff. Like a secret entrance though the wall. Maybe have a small ice cream shop at the front so guests have no idea that it is what it is.
they should have added landing gears for if you just want to display the ship its self
You've definitely changed my mind about the set. Will I be buying it? Nah I'm a minifig scale fan so mods still rule the swing to me
I really thought they prints only on new UCS Sets. but nope, again some stickers...
The sidepieces are falling off
idk what do say
