Used to have our second due Engine run from Cave Spring to Tanglewood Mall and parts of Route 419 and US 220 and I-581 and nearly bean motorists if they weren't looking.
dang man Im not a fire fighter but it should be common sense to no speed up a hill in a huge heavy rig. That police officer was waving his hands down and probably yelling slow your ass down.
The big question is, why was the tower from Clinton coming from basically New York Mills? Where you on another call when this one came in, I can't imagine that they keep their tower 6 miles from the town... so many questions
That's what I want to know. As a Clinton rig, it should have been a 2-minute drive. Instead, they didn't pass by their own firehouse until 8 and a half minutes 08:25 And all the way from New York Mills. It would have been faster to come up the hills of Route 12. A good thing that the roads were all plowed and it looked like an early Sunday morning with very little traffic. Some of the other comments say this video is hard to watch and shows poor driving of the rig. I disagree. I think the engineer did a great job due to the conditions at the time of very little traffic. Being a single rig, the risks were minimal. If this truck were following another fire apparatus, the risks would have been far greater -- It is almost always the SECOND rig thru an intersection that gets whacked by other vehicles and much more caution would have been warranted.
They were actually quite a few miles away from their fire house. I would have to say that if they were at their fire house it would have been about five minutes or so
In every fire department response video, it seems the fire department is always so damn far away from the fire. What the hell is going on? There aren't enough fire departments.
Some honest questions: Whatfor do you let 2 sirens run on an empty street like at the beginning? And whatfor the constant honking on an empty street and green traffic lights like at 2:30? When there's nothing, how should the horn warn someone or tell someone to pull over?
The SIREN must be running regardless of traffic conditions. I believe it is a OSHA requirement but correct me if I'm wrong. You don't want to be in a car/SUV and get hit by a fire rig-trust me!
I guess pedestrians and kids running out into the streets needs no warning that a firetruck is hurtling towards them... Safety before sorry i always say.
A whopping 12:58, and you finally arrive at the fire -- after putting numerous people and vehicular traffic at risk, esp. at intersections. Why bother?
If the driver had stopped for all those red lights they would have taken easily an extra 20 to 30 minutes to get to the scene. They are emergency vehicles responding to an emergency, not a group going on a picnic. If the intersection is clear, get going, blast everything - they should have right-of-way over everyone else. And did I read that they were a voluntary department? Good job on the sirens and horn - let people know that you are doing your job for the community - may even get an extra volunteer to join up.
well obviously he wasnt first due and there is no reason to be flying through a red light. And even though you have right away, you are not above the law you still have to obey all traffic laws
even volunteers don't have to use several sirens and horns if not necessary. I once lived and worked in a small village, where the ALS Emergency Ambulance had the same siren like the large fire trucks from the FD. During the night you always knew that it was the FD going down the road ... because they used their siren also on completly empty road at 2 AM, while the Ambulance went through a few minutes earlier without using any siren... Athough we have the right of way only by using both lights and sirens, we don't use the siren if not necessary
I think I will use this video in my department to show how NOT to drive. What good are you on the fire ground if you blow a red light and get into a wreck? The person in the officers seat should have been barking at the AO to slow down a little and try using some caution. Not sure about this particular truck, but mine cannot and will not stop on a dime. WOW.
+VaporheadATC Simply amazing that you have now value for human life. Asses driving like this get people killed. And it's always the general public that suffer. I guess if New York has an EVO course, it must have been concieved by drunks and Siren Jockeys.
Since when are Emergency Vehicles aloud to run RED traffic lights? This driver needs to have a refresher coarse in EV operations, I ran one red light in 25 yrs of service.....the following day my chief had me in the office reaming me a new asshole, and had to take a EV Safety coarse and drivers coarse, I never ran another red light !! Maybe laws are different in PA.
+Riley Anderesen Explain that to a LAWYER when you destroy a $300,000 piece of Emergency equipment or KILL fellow firemen or pedestrians, how fast are you going to go to the funeral !? IF you survive at all !!
+Riley Anderesen They were going to a fully involved mansion fire, house was a total loss by the time they arrived. Some of there maneuvers were not needed.
I've been in this business going on 14 years now and this was no doubt some of the worst and most careless driving I've ever seen in a fire truck and I've ridden with some idiots. But you should know better than to blow thru red lights and speed thru traffic like that. Absolutely no excuse for it.
Southern Railfan Productions shut up, if they were going slow they would have been there 20 to 30 minutes plus stopping. Now explain whats the point of going if it took that long after all that when they could just blow the horn so they can get to the emergency in a manageable time.
“What’s the point of going”? After all that reckless driving what exactly do you think the members contributed to the “emergency” when they arrived? Absolutely nothing. Do you know why? Because the “emergency” part of the incident was over long before they arrived. Ask yourself, If the situation was so desperate, and their arrival would make such a huge difference, why would the apparatus be blocked out of the scene? Shouldn’t all the other apparatus have been positioned out of the way so this rig could get right into the scene and be placed in service? If the members were so critical to the outcome, why would there be time to remove the camera and place it back in the cab? Shouldn’t the members be moving with that same urgency that was being used while responding? Why would the members exit the apparatus not prepared to work? The only work left to do would have been the same whether they arrived 15 minutes later or not. An extended response time, to a well involved fire, in a predominantly rural area that requires tankers for a water supply….. Add all that up and any member(s) with some fire ground experience and some common sense knows that there isn’t going to be much of an “emergency” left when they finally arrive. It sounds pretty harsh but that is the reality of volunteer firefighting, especially rural volunteer firefighting. It’s much smarter to operate the apparatus safely and efficiently than to become involved in an accident and create an even longer response time or worse, have members injured or possibly killed. Brotherhood remember?
Main criticism was that he was not first due in..at all. Too urgent, but would be fine if was primary or second search e.g. Also, he did slow down at every red. I understand the stop rule but the MAJORITY of times I’ve rode it is always a good roll on the brakes. I could easily see NO one coming at any lights. If you wanna critique the driver then dark on him going in the opposite direction. He went slow and calmly in that lane without any traffic. Siren was a bit crazy
Once again armchair firefighters taking and have no idea what they are talking about. First good to see cars get out of the way. Second driver did a great job at no time was driving bad. Always had a clear view of the road. Did a great job.
I do not understand why the smaller the town the more noise the fire department has to make? You have a Q, there's no one around, no traffic, there's no need whatsoever for that damned electronic siren. Dual sirens only make you look like a jackass and unprofessional. Basic code 3 driving is due regard for public safety and that includes excessive noise. Use of audible signals AS NEEDED.
Wow! I have never seen so much traffic. Good thing you had the siren.
Dude on he horn is having too much fun.
0:37 No cones we're harmed during the making of this film.
at the second set you know he wanted to take em out too
Pleased about that😂🤣
cone killer😁
Hopefully those cones didn’t mean the bridge was out....
From hamilton, love seeing familiar area, awsome response.. stay safe brother
Good looking tower like the style way to go your service is deeply appreciated thanks keep them safe out there
Joe

Dam that was a long run to fill tankers.
Das muss doch die Hölle sein, für den Retter, wenn er durchschnittlich 15-20min bis zum Einsatzort benötigt...
Nice ride. Good drive.
Much respect the the driver at 12:05
How many pickup trucks can you park on a fire scene?
grandes, no hay trabajo mas noble que el que desempeñamos los que acudimos a ayudar a nuestros semejantes. un abrazo muy fuerte de un EMT español.
Damn, been driving like 2 days to get this fire. No wonder it was a multiple alarm fire!
First time I've actually seen cars pull over to the right and stop.
most...most people yield in upstate ny
In. New Jersey they legally have to pull over for us in our pov
I think the horn wore out at the end.
“Q” does a great job by itself
I'm glad I live a half of a mile away from the VFD where they have a tanker and hydrant, for a rural area that's pretty good
Can't get much better and that makes your insurance slightly cheaper, at least in our district.
Crazy long fire engine response.. How far are they shuttling water for this fire? 5 miles?
+Jason Asselin you tanker from where you can get it. Rural fires are the worst.
+JPF941 they were at a parade about 20 min away from their station

@@EnjoyFirefighting Haha you were correct. I have since joined up since then. :)

They put so many miles on it it will be do for a service by the time they return.
.. 😎😎
This driver is " nuts" !
Sure would be nice if the poster mentioned what STATE this Clinton is in.
New York, Upstate specifically. Look at the plates on the cars, they are yellow.
Where’s your department?
Town that big have one fire station
A lot of criticizing his driving Just let me point out The title says Tower & Multiple Alarm! Enough said!
That was hard to watch
a long dispatch to a fire
I'm wondering if this wasn't a mutual Aid dispatch
In every fire department response video, it seems the fire department is always so damn far away from the fire. What the hell is going on? There aren't enough fire departments.
Pretty sure there were at a local Heart Run/Walk event a few town away from their own when they got the call.
They went to a neighbor town back them up at the fire alarm multiple alarm. This fire was not in their area of responsibility

The person in charge of the horn must be someone's wife. From New York City.
In my opinion, I see a lot of side streets/driveways that people could come flying out of. Better safe than sorry.
The SIREN must be running regardless of traffic conditions. I believe it is a OSHA requirement but correct me if I'm wrong. You don't want to be in a car/SUV and get hit by a fire rig-trust me!

what fire department is this and where is it located
I'm guessing upstate NY.
Clinton NY Hamilton College
Clinton NY
Was that an expedited response for a RIT team to be on scene? that was a long way to go
Who said anything about a RIT Team?
+cbodogh It was not, they were at the heart run and walk in utica, responding to a fire in there district.
what is that firetruck is it a peirce American LaFrance e one seagrave sutphen kme mid areial tower or tower ladder
Ferrara 100’ Midmount
If one of those firetrucks was an old American lafrance it was made in Elmira NY and is worth a lot of money
Got there in time to save the basement.
Novo ai ok!!!
A bit over the top maybe?
Not enough fire stations. Sure travelled a long way to even get to the fire.
its mutual aid on a MULTI alarm fire..many stations went
