    I do not understand why the smaller the town the more noise the fire department has to make? You have a Q, there's no one around, no traffic, there's no need whatsoever for that damned electronic siren. Dual sirens only make you look like a jackass and unprofessional. Basic code 3 driving is due regard for public safety and that includes excessive noise. Use of audible signals AS NEEDED.

    Main criticism was that he was not first due in..at all. Too urgent, but would be fine if was primary or second search e.g. Also, he did slow down at every red. I understand the stop rule but the MAJORITY of times I’ve rode it is always a good roll on the brakes. I could easily see NO one coming at any lights. If you wanna critique the driver then dark on him going in the opposite direction. He went slow and calmly in that lane without any traffic. Siren was a bit crazy

    I've been in this business going on 14 years now and this was no doubt some of the worst and most careless driving I've ever seen in a fire truck and I've ridden with some idiots. But you should know better than to blow thru red lights and speed thru traffic like that. Absolutely no excuse for it.

    • @tamaracauley9633

      Southern Railfan Productions shut up, if they were going slow they would have been there 20 to 30 minutes plus stopping. Now explain whats the point of going if it took that long after all that when they could just blow the horn so they can get to the emergency in a manageable time.

    • @ritirons2726
      @ritirons2726 2 роки тому

      “What’s the point of going”? After all that reckless driving what exactly do you think the members contributed to the “emergency” when they arrived? Absolutely nothing. Do you know why? Because the “emergency” part of the incident was over long before they arrived. Ask yourself, If the situation was so desperate, and their arrival would make such a huge difference, why would the apparatus be blocked out of the scene? Shouldn’t all the other apparatus have been positioned out of the way so this rig could get right into the scene and be placed in service? If the members were so critical to the outcome, why would there be time to remove the camera and place it back in the cab? Shouldn’t the members be moving with that same urgency that was being used while responding? Why would the members exit the apparatus not prepared to work? The only work left to do would have been the same whether they arrived 15 minutes later or not. An extended response time, to a well involved fire, in a predominantly rural area that requires tankers for a water supply….. Add all that up and any member(s) with some fire ground experience and some common sense knows that there isn’t going to be much of an “emergency” left when they finally arrive. It sounds pretty harsh but that is the reality of volunteer firefighting, especially rural volunteer firefighting. It’s much smarter to operate the apparatus safely and efficiently than to become involved in an accident and create an even longer response time or worse, have members injured or possibly killed. Brotherhood remember?

    The big question is, why was the tower from Clinton coming from basically New York Mills? Where you on another call when this one came in, I can't imagine that they keep their tower 6 miles from the town... so many questions

    • @zz449944
      @zz449944 Рік тому

      That's what I want to know. As a Clinton rig, it should have been a 2-minute drive. Instead, they didn't pass by their own firehouse until 8 and a half minutes 08:25 And all the way from New York Mills. It would have been faster to come up the hills of Route 12. A good thing that the roads were all plowed and it looked like an early Sunday morning with very little traffic. Some of the other comments say this video is hard to watch and shows poor driving of the rig. I disagree. I think the engineer did a great job due to the conditions at the time of very little traffic. Being a single rig, the risks were minimal. If this truck were following another fire apparatus, the risks would have been far greater -- It is almost always the SECOND rig thru an intersection that gets whacked by other vehicles and much more caution would have been warranted.

    Some honest questions: Whatfor do you let 2 sirens run on an empty street like at the beginning? And whatfor the constant honking on an empty street and green traffic lights like at 2:30? When there's nothing, how should the horn warn someone or tell someone to pull over?

    If the driver had stopped for all those red lights they would have taken easily an extra 20 to 30 minutes to get to the scene. They are emergency vehicles responding to an emergency, not a group going on a picnic. If the intersection is clear, get going, blast everything - they should have right-of-way over everyone else. And did I read that they were a voluntary department? Good job on the sirens and horn - let people know that you are doing your job for the community - may even get an extra volunteer to join up.

    • @claycuthrell
      @claycuthrell 6 років тому

      well obviously he wasnt first due and there is no reason to be flying through a red light. And even though you have right away, you are not above the law you still have to obey all traffic laws

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 6 років тому

      even volunteers don't have to use several sirens and horns if not necessary. I once lived and worked in a small village, where the ALS Emergency Ambulance had the same siren like the large fire trucks from the FD. During the night you always knew that it was the FD going down the road ... because they used their siren also on completly empty road at 2 AM, while the Ambulance went through a few minutes earlier without using any siren... Athough we have the right of way only by using both lights and sirens, we don't use the siren if not necessary
