I was Sarah at work once, but I literally worked in the best possible place ever. My co-workers son has diabetes so she instantly recognized my symptoms, I worked a block away from like 12 hospitals, and because of where we worked, everyone had to have extensive CPR/First Aid training so they all knew what to do. I've never felt so taken care of, and so glad to be around people who were aware of what to do.

This lady wouldn't give the break she asked for (which was clearly to treat herself) and then has the nerve to start lecturing her on taking her condition more seriously. Smh.

I remember my first serious hypo. I was travelling on the subway and started to feel cold and hungry. The next thing I knew a woman was shoving gluco tabs in my mouth with the help of two security guards while I tried to muster something resembling an objection. Somehow I'd made it several stops and gotten off the train, wandering around aimlessly and shaking.

Just so you know this was an example. In reality the trembling is much worse, you will see limbs swinging back and forth, so don't panic, stay calm and follow the steps.

Be very careful giving hard candy to someone who is in a hypoglycemic state. Loss of conciousness is always a concern. If the patient passes out with hard candy in their mouth, the airway could become compromised. Items like juice, soda (non diet) and sugar packets are better options if available.

These videos are helpful. I think I just had sudden Illness from high sugar although I never had diabetes. But my toes were slightly numb, I feel feverish but had a normal temperature, urinating every 15 min, and felt exhausted. I only had a salad today, with a splash of OJ in my water, no breads or sugar otherwise. I'm thin, eat pretty low sugar, and recently recovered from covid. I just took a 20 min walk and feel better, just fatigued. If your sugar is too high, mild walking for 20 min helped me. (I've heard you shouldn't do heavy exercise)

I've had low, and high blood glucose levels! It's not a fun thing to have at all! Seriously! It's horrible! I become very angry when my blood sugar gets below 50, and whilst I NEVER become physically violent, I sure do make a ruckus. Not a very loud one, because I have a trach, and I'm on a ventilator, but I will let you know, and it's not always nice what say, even though I don't swear.

I think we missed a couple steps on calling 911 for the low blood sugar like give the snack more time and you need to eat more food and then a shot glass of the orange juice and a hard candy from the back of her freaking pocket like give me some crackers or something

I'm not diabetic but one time I was out doing errands with my group home and I only had a salad for lunch and I started feeling shaky and then I ended up having a REAL seizure possibilty due to low blood sugar I do have non epileptic events so I now try to make sure I have snacks sweet treats and drinks with me wherever I go and I can't drink orange juice because of my acid reflux

I am very afraid of diabetes, I’m not saying I hate diabetics, I’m only afraid of the diabetes because if I was one and what happens if I am too late and have low blood sugar, rn it’s a bit chili like idk if I’m becoming a diabetic or it’s just the cool weather, like I entered work today and I felt normal until I felt weak dizzy and unbalanced, I don’t have diabetes (hopefully) and I was shaking like crazy, my feet weren’t numb but I was just shaking and my body was tingling and I do have anxiety like idk if it’s that or I’m developing diabetes

If the patient feel sick/weakness and he/she doesn’t know the blood sugar is low or high. Then what to do in emergency time ? Can he/she eat sugar during emergency time in their weakness ?

Low blood glucose (hypoglycemia) is more common than symptoms from high blood glucose that present like that. Besides, the patient says that she hasn't had lunch so she has probably got low bg. Nowadays, she could have an insulin pump on her with a cgms (continuous glucose monitoring system display ) and that would show you very clearly whether she is low or high. If someone were that low that she is very weak, I would think a full c. of juice would be a better idea. With a pump, you can always give insulin to combat the high that might result.

most diabetics can tell weather it’s a high or a low blood sugar. the signs are pretty distinguishable.

I was 31 last week. My husband took me to the Emergency Room and they gave me lots of cranberry juice and graham crackers. I was back to 68 within 15 minutes and they let me come home. This has never happened to me before and I am not diabetic. Now, I am very afraid.

I am Diabetic. If I am rendered unconscious putting liberal amount of honey on my lips and on my gums is the quickest way to get my glucose up from my experience.
