These dev logs really give a sense of community as well as national pride and patriotism. Wouldn't be surprised to see more Finnish companies want to get involved with this project.
Having worked on my own game the last 2 years with my team and having learned a lot of the nuances and challenges of game dev seeing what this guy has done is incredible, super inspiring. Very clear just how skilled and knowledgeable he is to have gotten this far, not to mention dedicated and passionate. Probably the #1 indie dev in my eyes. Doing it right and killing it. Huge respect to Anti.

What I love about this game. Is I'm already sold, and I hope it does really well. But just seeing how this guy operates and his thought process on this game. That doesn't just sell me on this game, I can't wait to see this guys next game. After he learns from this experience. He is going to be a developer to keep and eye on for years.
He has said that he will be spending his whole game development career on this game. So i'm not sure if he will make more games after this one.
To be honest, I thought this project would be a scam at worst, or a hopeless hobby at best. But this dev is a genius, it's incredible what he's achieving.

I am super excited for this game to be released. I generally try not to get excited about games before release since almost every good looking game nowadays ends up being crap on release. But the dev for this game has been consistently doing pretty much everything right since the beginning!
How cool is it to be making a video game, and some of the equipment in the game, is one of your sponsors. Personally I think that’s awesome, and a smart move for that company as well. I’ll be checking them out, getting a tent and a wood stove for a tent would be amazing lol
I'm going to sound like "everything that's wrong with modern gamers" here but - gimme a $100+ version that comes with a physical disc in one of the Savotta first-aid packs, maybe one of the patches and I am bloody well there at midnight on release for it!

More like Stalker tbh, which is also where Tarkov took inspiration. The guy that wrote the stalker books’s name is Tarkovsky even, so you can see the where Nikita got the name from.

hes doing majority of the coding, design work, and ai work himself, only contracting out certain things he finds too tedious or difficult to obtain in the time frame he wants.
i still find it wild, he developed the game on one engine, got so far, said fuck the company that owned that engine, and REBUILT the entire thing on a new development engine.
hes the first person to develop a project like this on that new engine, and hes paving the way for so many others to follow and improve upon.
i genuinely hope this game sees massive success
As for the Flycam thing, I used to be a cinematographer for 15 years (I've specialised in camera stabilisations like Steadicam and so called master shots), eventually ending up as a survival instructor and joining the military, so it's really cool to see my two passions are colliding in this game. I bet the dev already thought about it, but if he's not, there should be a native support of game pads in the game so you could operate the camera more realistically. Generally speaking how you flay a drone.
So fuckin great dude, I mean this guy deserves all the best for doing theses awesome things, plus were basically nabe's since I live in Sweden and on top of that we both are Nato members now !
re Savota, I feel it's not like The Day Before because at least their products and what they offer directly relate to the game, the TDB sponsorship didn't relate to the game so had no place.
I've learned to appreciate the vision and art of games these days, why I loved tarkov so much. This game looks great cannot wait to play a more content filled version.

I have said this many times. But this is proper passion, from Unity to Godot, all the work. I think every game developer should follow in this guy's steps.

15:52 yeah it would be amazing if we could have a "Demo" system like the source engine has. Allows some really great control over all of the aspects that you want.
What you described at 16:00 is just like the 'BattleRecorder' they had for Battlefield 2 from 2005. After playing on servers with BattleRecorder enabled, you could download each round and follow any player or freecam around the map with similar controls and abilities as his Flycam. Would be very cool if he somehow made that possible.

You have a in game camera recorder in Ready or not which you can record player, AI, in missions and all that stuff which is plenty cool !
RTV will be the game ever. It will be THE GAME. Everytime I hear RTV I hear the industry screaming that someone is actually making a good game.

Another Finnish game that I've played for decades now is UnReal World - those devs seem to have a similar mindset: they're still providing free updates and content for the game and their dev logs are very much 'living their game dream'.
Edit: FlyCam - a weeks work, maybe more but the payback is going to be huge!

the finn's dont fuck around. Finnish brutality just finished up for this year and the videos should be coming out soon if not already. I know forgotton weapons already has his posted.
I'm a huge tarkov fan and a little bit of a dayz fan and the demo definitely feels a bit like the two of them combined.. it definitely feels more like dayz in the sense that the map is pretty Bare Bones and the items that you find in places don't really make sense at all. It's really cool to see somebody making a game like this but I don't think it would ever pull me away from tarkov or dayz as it doesnt really bring anything new to the table.

Curious to see how this looks finished. As of now idk it just looks like another stalker inspired game to me. I get there's one guy on it don't get me wrong that's friggen awesome and kudos to him but the hype this is getting seems overboard imo guess will see.

I've tried the demo. I don't like the continually spawning enemies, it's annoying when they spawn near the trader while you're trying to buy stuff. Needs to be better mechanics to save my stuff. I'm not interested in spending hours to get griefed of all my equipment.

Have you reached out to this guy to either hire him or work with him as partners on your next endeavor? Man is MADLY talented and shares a similar passion and vision as you i think. Guy could be invaluable to your team if you could scoop him. Im sure hes gotten offers and rejected them but your not a massive corp. You two might see eye to eye on a ton never know

AKM reload needs some work, if you've ever used an AK you know damn well you're not reloading it while holding the mag in that fashion
Almost all finns have been in army and we use ak variant called rk.

@@WarhoundActual1 i have and no issues. Served in finnish def forces 1999 in the navy. One must be really weak to have issues handeling peagun like ak or rk.

Game definitely does NOT look incredible. Props to the guy for building a game on his own.. but it has many years to go in order for it to be worth anything. The gunplay and movement is awful right now and a shooter can't have that. You should know better. You have been reacting to indie development for years and years. Learn from your mistakes.
