I've only heard this sung live by 3 tenors, one being Juan Diego Florez when he was quite early in his career. It's an amazing feat and no matter the voice, if you can do it well enough to sing it with confidence, it is quite something to behold. I can only imagine what it was like to hear Pavarotti sing it. His was so lyric and yet his voice shot out like a canon. Those C's must have been heard from space. What a voice!
Florez’s ease hitting the notes sets him apart. He sings them like they’re no sweat and he has another couple half steps in him… because he does. But when it comes to ring and tone… nobody beats Luciano. Nobody. His voice is like the clearest bell in the world being exploded by a cannon.

He is incredible in this, the power of the voice, the richness, the bell-like quality to the high notes. I know nothing about singing technique, but Luciano Pavarotti was amazing and I do regret not making the effort to hear him live at some point, it would have been money well spent ! I have been listening to opera for a while now. There are many arias where other tenors excel. BUT listen to this, i don't know how you could top this. Just trying to acheive those high notes once, makes my head ache. I love you Luciano.
