Bantu: I like they have a different play style. Also, it incentivizes to have lot of bordering neighbors. They are kinda the inverse Assyrians. Garamantes: They are decent, but not too special gameplay wise. Just an alternative to Celts. Swahili: I really like them. The stability matters at that stage of the game and they are a nice alternative to Norsemen if you want to rush for new world. Maasai: They feel better than the Haudenosaunee. However, I think it has the same problems as the importance of Food starts to drop in importance in this stage and Maasai doesn't solve this problem. Ethiopians: it could be better. Sadly, at this stage because of France (and how Science works), it is just an irrelevant culture. Even if you don't pick France, other cultures may just offer different enough stuff compared to Ethiopians. Even as militarist, I'd prefer Zulu as it offers a different angle compared to Ethiopians. It was just a missed opportunity. Not bad, just irrelevant. Nigerians: same problem with Industrial era. Because of science, non-Soviet and non-science cultures are just irrelevant gameplay wise. It is better designed than Ethiopians as they offer a unique enough gameplay style. They are in the middle of the pack and certain more relevant than other agrarian, aesthete, and merchant cultures at this era. They may be on par with Australians which isn't bad. It is just how badly balanced the last two eras are in terms of end game gameplay and it won't be solved without a complete overhaul I'm afraid. I'm disappointed to the lack of science and industry cultures. At very least they could have added a classic era science or industry one. There were advanced cultures in sub-Saharan regions that could fit the bill nicely. Maybe Nok could be a nice candidate. They had bronze and iron works before European contact I believe. 3 cultures focus on food basically. Maybe they could have just made a science or industry first with food second like Bantu is expansionist, but can play as an aesthete culture basically.
Basically all of Africa had Iron and Bronze before European contact lmaooo. Iron working spread to north and east Africa from the middle east and it was independently invented in west central Africa and spread south from there.
I really enjoyed playing the Nigerians actually! The production though not awful, isn’t anything to write home about but the extra farmers helps you avoid population cap problems while also just providing more food for agrarian stars. The oil is also fun to play around with and I’m excited to see how it pans out in multiplayer with more dynamic diplomacy! Also the Swahili are just absolutely incredible though i do feel bad for the Ghanians who might be left out to dry now, same with the Haudenosaunee compared to the Maasai
that taking 4 units to settle thing is the same as with Huns and Mongols. It's cool when it's so far away from your cities cuz it won't cost buckets of influence.
Three West Africa Kingdoms Ghana an Songhai and Mali A succession of Three Great Kingdom's came to power as their people, Gaines Control of valuable Trade Routes in West Africa. Ghana was The First of These Empires, Followed by the kingdoms of Mali and Songhai. Historians think the first people in Ghana were farmers along the Niger River.
@@JumboPixel Sure 10:52 to 11:10. It starts there but there are very long pauses throughout this last section when you are putting them on the tier. Check 12:44 to 12:56 also
Thank you SO MUCH! I’ve removed all the pauses and another one I spotted. Seriously I really appreciate that! UA-cam usually takes a few hours to update, but after that we’ve successfully removed those accidental breaks! Cheers :)
in the screenshot you show that nigerians also get +1 farmer slot per oil. *that* wasn't listed in the trailer, so was it a last minute addition? It doesn't seem like you discussed it in the video (or if you did, it was very understated -- it seems like you only discussed +2 industry per farmer). Is it not even wroth commenting about?
I think it was tweaked at some point. It’s a nice benefit! Definitely adds more value to them if it’s it the game, because your African cities will likely be needing more jobs given the significant agrarian focus.
If the Bantu special unit multiplies from food and uses up 4 of them to settle an outpost then isn't it an early Huns type of culture? (without the horses)
Yes - it’s perhaps too early for a public tier list. I give disclaimers during the video and in the description. This is based off my *early access* play throughs.

I can't wait to get this hopefully multiplayer is There
Another great video, thanks!
Cheers Ethan!

Yup - sam idea with the nomadic units. Definitely offers great flexibility
Javelin riders? Africans didn't domesticate horse. Ever
Since 1600BC actually.
I love how the Germans are right next to the Ethiopians and he claims only militaristic culture xD Haha still love the video!
I think he meant of the Africa pack
@@a.m.hofmeister725 he might have but he said the only culture in the Era not the new dlc
Only militarist in the new dlc, and in this tier list video. Sorry about that if it confused anyone - sometimes I slip up during busy times.
@@elimacmichael3147 ...yeah. that's the point. He meant the other thing.
Javelin rider is pretty cool, I can use them till dargoon

Some dead air is OK but I was starting to question my audio! otherwise nice recap!
Sorry what do you mean? Is there a part without audio? If there is, I can hopefully fix in via UA-cam so please let me know the time stamp.

“Ethiopia is the only militarist culture of this era”
Literally next to the militarist culture, Germany, lol
It’s a confusing world alright
Any gameplay mechanic change or just new cultures added via new DLC?
As many cultures as a mid teir mod.
Ethiopia C Tier, I cry :(

Yup! The nomadic ability is very similar to the Huns and the Mongols.
Isn't it too early for a tier list of Civilizations that were released 24h ago ?
