    @7:36 Garrison stability building there doesn't get adjacency bonuses. You were just removing the negatives of the makers quarters. The only way to buff them is by civics, empire traits or infrastructure. So it was +5 and then removing the -10 from Makers Quarters you had it hovered over. Thus giving it a net +15, if it was placed on a naked tile surrounded by districts it would still be +5.
    Edited to add best practices:
    Best to place them on sterile tiles, or low inconsequential yield tiles (if not using for strategic purposes). Since they don't require adjacency and dont benefit from adjacency. This ensures you min-max your tile yields as best as possible. Granted you can always build over an emergency one.

    I wish on the little stability tab they would give you a total number. As in you have 50 more stability than you need or you need 59 more stability to make your city 100%.
    Just to make it easier on the play to just take a quick look at the screen instead of me needing to pull out a calculator for every city

    I love your videos! I am new to CIV style games, and Humankind really caught my attention. I am struggling though understanding how to build my districts and how to position them, how to find the initial place for my city and when to attach a new outpost or make it a new city. I find myself usually doing really good in the early game, but really struggling to earn my era starts after the classic era. Building new districts / improvements takes too many turns. If I try to focus on production, I end up having too little population.
    Another thing that I really struggle is when to decide to build an army. I find myself on turn 130+ without any army at all and really suffering opression from the AI.
    Any tips - or any previous videos that may help me with all of this? I've been watching many of your videos, but I don't understand why I am not improving. I even tried playing faster speed games (it is usually very frustrating to notice in the late game that you've been staying behind for a long time).
    In any case, thank you for your videos they do really help!

    • @dragonlloux
      @dragonlloux 3 роки тому +1

      Hey, I am new too, but I’m finding that a good focus on food is important early game as it sets you up to have a good pop throughout the game, with pop you can increase any production on your cities, get more religion/influence and also produce armies, further more you can eventually buy building outright with pop to speed up construction.
      I also learned that picking a builder faction early is not as effective as one would like because of the nature of their active skill. I do however recommend them once you are stablished and have had at least one era with a gold or science producing faction and god a good science or gold stream coming in from your cities then it is the time to get a builder faction, I had a coin era and after went for a builder era, and with the use of the skill due to the amount of gold I was producing I was able to build ALL my remaining infrastructure (a lot of them) in 20 turn on the capital as each would only last a turn or two

    • @peblazquez
      @peblazquez 3 роки тому +1

      @@dragonlloux hey thanks for your reply! I’ve tried focusing on population, however I run into this scenario where I am over producing population and I start loosing people and it gets really hard to construct other districts because I haven’t got enough industry.
      I guess there has to be a sweet spot between placing your districts, deciding which improvements you make to the city and how to manage population / money to skip the building queues.

    • @JumboPixel
      @JumboPixel  3 роки тому +2

      I already have two or three early game tutorials on my channel - I’d recommend you check out the Neolithic era and ancient era tutorials - I specifically cover most of your questions there, particularly the building ones.
      I also have a ‘build better cities’ video which explains build orders. Quick tips - initial placement should balance food and industry, but make sure you have at least 8 or so industry otherwise things will build too slow (including the outpost itself). Make sure you upgrade them to cities when you can to get more influence, so you can continue to expand. Industry is key there.

    I've been a very long Civilization player, started with Civ 2 in 1999, and have been playing almost every title with the tag 'Civ' (also played Call 2 Power.) I started playing Humankind thanks to your videos, as previously I was skeptic about this game. But initially when I started playing Humandkind, I was irritated with lots of things. But with help of many of your guide videos I've learned a lot about this game. And I must confess that Humankind indeed has a far superior game mechanics compared to Civilization VI. Only the problem is that the game needs lots of tweaking. Many game mechanics are irritating and many crucial UI options are unavailable. Still, the game is giving me same feelings as I used to have when I played Civ 3 and 4 (which in those times were pretty awesome.) Civilization V brought forth hexagonal concept, but could not utilize it to its best potential even in Civ 6. Humankind has nailed it really well.

      Do you have any recommendations on making effective use of melee units ?
      In my limited experience they seem very bad. Ranged units atack first lowering the effectivness of a melee unit who needs to be in close to atack and then suffers the retaliation of the ranged unit.
      Thus making the ranged unit attack 2x : 1 time in range, 1 time as retaliation.
      Not to mention they can shoot from behind other units, and cliffs dont block their attack, they can shoot up or down.
      How can a melee unit compete ?
      (in other 4x like civ 5, you can use forests to block ranged attacks)

    The game still has a lot of bugs even after the latest update. One game breaking bug I encountered is when the game lets you pick a religion tenet but all tenets have already been picked thus I cannot end the turn. Another is air strike is not working in actual battle but working fine outside battle. Hopefully, the devs will fix these bugs. Quite annoying.

    Has anyone ever hit mass instability? I found later on in the game I'll see my stability go to -1200 to -1400 in my capital only and it'll just start falling by 5% each turn. I've had this happen in several games and I still can't figure out what's causing this.

    • @TysonJensen
      @TysonJensen 3 роки тому

      -1200?? Sounds like a bug? Or possibly pollution. Pollution is a mechanic that really doesn’t have the same level of UI / tooltip / encyclopedia support in the game as of yet so it can do some strange things without warning.

    • @TysonJensen
      @TysonJensen 3 роки тому +1

      Do you mean -1200 influence? That’s far more common and it happens quickly if you win a war that takes you over your city cap on a harder difficulty.

    • @calcifer948
      @calcifer948 3 роки тому

      Might be pollution. The first time I thought it was population loss that was causing it but the second time it happened I had good growth, I was under the city cap, and nothing else seemed to be wrong with my empire. I was just lucky I took the Swedes and ended the game before it became an issue. Also Sweden is busted late in the game when you can hit 40k science per turn lol

    • @JumboPixel

      There is a known stability bug, and it could be that. Other options could be:
      1. You ran out of influence or gold for a long period of time
      2. You’ve merged cities or territories too quickly
      3. Pollution, nukes, or another game ending force?
      4. Your societal values or too extreme, or your influence has been overtaken
      Or it’s bugged! Either way, check the drop down display that I show in the video (city stability details) and see where all the negative stability is coming from.

    • @calcifer948
      @calcifer948 3 роки тому

      @@JumboPixel Okay, I just reloaded the game and found the issue. It was pollution like Tyson Jensen was mentioning. The crazy thing is it's saying I have low pollution in the city but I'm getting -15 stability per district so there's the issue lol. Thanks for all the help guys. I guess the key is to just win the game before pollution becomes an issue lol.

    The stability you gain from builders/aggrarian affinity is not permanent but only one time ! Would be way to op otherwise.
    Also when talking about stabilty you need ton mention trade. Its the biggest factor to Improve stability.
    I also try to avoid buildings/infrastructure that causes pollution because it can instantly tank your atability to zero!
