    Source is one of the most underrated monosynths ever. Raw sound on these is amazing. Nothing new compares

      It is a special machine, true. I'd never sell mine even though it's getting a bit old and grumpy. Like me!

    Best Moog ever.

    Also it's interesting that there is a ring mod patch but no ring mod "controls" (other than the wheel setup for the patch)...

  • @sapainca
    @sapainca 4 роки тому +1

    forget the control, this thing sounds good from the 'get-go' the raw sound is superb, warm, tubey and ultra snappy.

      it's very weird to play this after playing plugin/softsynths. It is sooooo "there," so musical!

    It actually looks like a pretty simple intuitive control interface. The only thing I can't figure out is how you would do any fine tuning of each oscillator. I see the octave buttons and the interval button for oscillator 2. Can you only fine tune oscillator 2 (via the interval button)? Is oscillator 1 tuning fixed?

      There's a master tune on the back of the synth, you can see it in pics here: modularsynthesis.com/moog/source/source.htm

    Is $1800 a good price? Is it worth the sounds? Warmer than a sub 37 bass or leads?

      I don't think you can directly compare as they're from such different eras: it's like comparing a classic instrument with a great new version. Each has their own character and it's totally up to you.

      No, better off with a Phatty or Behringer clone now.

    Sounds a bit like my concertmate mg 1 which is a tandy/radio shack copy of the moog rouge

    @ 20:43 that too is my type of Moogy sound, love it, wish I had never sold mine. Nice demo, really good sounds.

      Thanks for watching and the feedback, Mark! I'm sorry you sold yours BUT if it's any consolation, plugins are 95% of the way there. Maybe soon you'll be able to get that tone back?

      @@JyotiMishra I just picked up a Moog Sirin and played it along with this video, it's VERY close in many sounds, and a great little synth. Thanks again for making this video, you got me back into The Source.

      Sadly, I haven't got the time at the moment - new album, vids, pitching songs.... Maybe if I ever get a year off!! But thank you for watching, I'll be doing more synth vids soon. When I have time... 😭

    Reminds me of old arcade cabinets from the 1980s. Have to say I don't like the sound of it much...… and the possibilities seem a little limiting, like most 1980s synths.
    (you didn't actually say what year it came out)
