Well after binge watching this whole series for the past week, I'm finally caught up to real time. I can't wait for the next part. Great series John, really enjoying it. :-)
This whole series is like a case study in why the randomized legendary system sucks and needs to scrapped in future Bethesda games. The probability of getting pure crap is far too high (a fucking 'nocturnal' missile launcher????), but "fixing" the system to provide better loot would unbalance the game. Just go back to system of a fixed, specific number of unique weapons in dungeons and as rewards for defeating bosses or finishing quests.
@@FredCDobbs-rd5wi I would like to agree, with the small addition that unique weapons should still have interesting effects, unlike in Falllout NV where they just had sligthly better damage, DPS or critical hit chance. That was'nt even nearly enough for me.
@@FredCDobbs-rd5wi I like the randomness of legendary spawns, but I think certain effects should be excluded from certain weapons, so that the chance of a legendary item being useful is higher. For example, limiting the enraging effect to pistols. Or increased damage to ghouls effect to flame/plasma throwers
@@georgehh2574 Doing that would seriously unbalance the game. If legendary effects only appeared on weapons & armor where the effect was useful, you'd very quickly amass a pile of OP gear. The one and only advantage of the current randomized system is that the high probability of getting crap you cannot use prevents the system from unbalancing the game. For a while at least -- play long enough and you'll eventually acquire a set of OP gear. Until then, though, you have to deal with frustrations like getting a Hunter's Synth Left Arm for the third time (that happened in my current playthrough) or useless shit like a Junkies' Knuckles (also the same run), a Relentless Minigun (ditto), etc. No, the best solution is scrap the legendary system entirely and return to the one used in Fallout 3 & News Vegas. It just doesn't work. At the very least, Bethesda should make switching it off an option in the menu.
He had a reason for the thirst zapper, it just wound up being unnecessary. It's a fast gun, so he was hoping to use it against One-Eyed Ike in the shootout. He just accidentally killed Ike with a grenade before even triggering the shootout, so the zapper wasn't brought into play.
I've been feeling pretty shitty lately, but these episodes have been really helping to forget my troubles, if even for just a little while. Thanks Jon.
I think Mysterious Stranger can make it impossible to VATS cancel though, so he could get stuck watching the stranger shoot stuff while he takes damage.
Or doesnt hit anything at all or take a shot cause he showed up facing the wrong perception. 4's Mysterious Stranger seems to max out luck but negative perception and negative intelligence.... The guy is pretty bugged
So I'm playing through Fallout 4 and trying to experience everything. I just got to Nuka World and did the initial introductorys and whatnot. The first area I went to was the Nuka Galaxy area, and I will say I am happy as all hell that I invested points (that I initially thought I wasted) into hacking robots. That made it much easier than I feel like it should have, and that seems to be emphasized by Jon here.
The reason the Splattercannon exists in the shop is thus: It's in case you fail the speech check and are locked out of getting the Problem Solver. A bit over generous on Bethesda Game Studios' part.
I love how in his survival run he got pretty decent luck and in this run, he has got such terrible luck when it comes to legendaries. It's like the game does not want to give him a good gun no matter what.
Mason's handmade rifle comes with wearker mods. The splattercannon has all the top tier mods, which is a great option for builds that don't get all the perks needed for them, but it comes at a pretty nasty price of almost 20k caps
Always love the timing of this series. FInish work late on a Sunday so come home, eat dinner and by then Jon has uploaded. Enjoying seeing Fallout! Thanks!
There are a lot of basic spelling/grammar mistakes in this game. Most of them I can forgive, because they’re on terminals, but some? Some of them make me wonder if the writers received even the most basic education.

Once again, Jon goes into danger while standing out in the open and he just... _sits there_ This time he actually took damage as a result of that deer-in-the-headlights tactic. Seriously Jon, when you go into danger -especially against burrowing enemies- the best thing you can do is _sprint for cover_
Really enjoyed this one. I know its harder and more intense, but its fun to see you adapt on the fly as opposed to going in knowing, and having tested, everything in advance.
My guess as to why there are two furious hand made rifles available, is due to how a lot of Fallout 4 gets designed, at least to what little experience/knowledge I have. A lot of the time with important things, there seems to always be two paths to get there. An example would be that door in the gauntlet where you can either pick the door, or take the longer path and grab the key to the door. I would hypothesise that the designers decided that the weapon was important enough for them to want to make it available through multiple paths. Hopefully that all makes sense. Enjoying the series!!

Well after binge watching this whole series for the past week, I'm finally caught up to real time. I can't wait for the next part. Great series John, really enjoying it. :-)
"Only a loser is down on the streets" - Some Victorian-era wealthy snob
He also said the streets were for pleb's, didn't Jon go to Cambridge or some other hoitie toite school?
Feel like i should watch Tremors now.
That meat hook was definitely enraging.
@@FredCDobbs-rd5wi
I would like to agree, with the small addition that unique weapons should still have interesting effects, unlike in Falllout NV where they just had sligthly better damage, DPS or critical hit chance.
Jon: I'm leaving all useless items.
Also Jon: Bringing the Thrist Zapper, just in case.
He had a reason for the thirst zapper, it just wound up being unnecessary. It's a fast gun, so he was hoping to use it against One-Eyed Ike in the shootout. He just accidentally killed Ike with a grenade before even triggering the shootout, so the zapper wasn't brought into play.
@@o-mangaming5042 Yeah, I replied as soon as he left the room, so I didn't realize that was his plan, but I always just used other weapons anyway.
I've been feeling pretty shitty lately, but these episodes have been really helping to forget my troubles, if even for just a little while.
Thanks Jon.
Welcome to this week's episode of: The floor is lava!
The floor is larva
Y'know, I really do think that Mysterious Stranger would be a great perk for you considering your extensive VATS usage.
I think Mysterious Stranger can make it impossible to VATS cancel though, so he could get stuck watching the stranger shoot stuff while he takes damage.
Also sometimes the stranger hits the wrong person
Or car
Or oil
Or trap
Or doesnt hit anything at all or take a shot cause he showed up facing the wrong perception. 4's Mysterious Stranger seems to max out luck but negative perception and negative intelligence.... The guy is pretty bugged
Yes! Favorite part of the week!!!
You and me both
"With that being said I'm not so worried." Oh. Oh no. Oh no Jon. Oh no Jon, the hubris!
Anyone else think he's going to forget the giant piles of worm meat he left behind and start starving at some point?
The reason the Splattercannon exists in the shop is thus: It's in case you fail the speech check and are locked out of getting the Problem Solver. A bit over generous on Bethesda Game Studios' part.
Jon's taken almost as much damage the past two episodes alone than he had in the 30 episodes prior. Ouch.
Boy I hope there aren't any worms in this episode.
Can confirm - absolutely no worms. So don't worry about worms. At all.
@@ManyATrueNerd You sit on a throne of lies.
:P
@@MissManday well, he could have jumped on a throne of barrels, saving him 40 odd hp and some rads... but he chose the throne of lies instead!
@@MissManday A throne of worms rather.
Jon: *finds two pieces of acrobat gear*
Also Jon: *afraid of heights*
jon: maybe the crappy legendary curse will be broken next week!
me, knowing he's only gonna find an cryogenic toothpick and some pocket sand: (◔_◔)
Been waiting on this all week
Always love the timing of this series. FInish work late on a Sunday so come home, eat dinner and by then Jon has uploaded. Enjoying seeing Fallout! Thanks!
"Do as your told" speech option... Never realised that mistake before
I always thought it was on purpose, given people who usually have that posture are more likely to be the ones writting it as such...
There are a lot of basic spelling/grammar mistakes in this game. Most of them I can forgive, because they’re on terminals, but some? Some of them make me wonder if the writers received even the most basic education.
45:14 DAMNIT!!!! Scared the hell out of me!!!! @_@
Damn it!!!....I'd managed to get that Nuka song out of my head, now it's back !!
What if there was a place with all the zip of Nuka-Cola
Wouldn’t that be the cheer-cheer-cheeriest place in all the world
Where the river’s made of Quantum and the mountaintops are fizz
With fun and games and rides for all the moms and pops and kids
Well it turns out there’s a place with all the zip of Nuka-Cola
Come on down to Nuka-World and see it for yourself
Kiddie Kingdom’s lots of fun for tots like you and me
Safari Adventure’s full of animals to see
Blast off to Galactic Zone for otherworldly thrills
Down in Dry Rock Gulch there’s Cola up in them thar hills
The World of Refreshments the most wonderful place
The friendly streets of Nuka-Town put a smile on your face
Now you know there’s a place that’s just as great as Nuka-Cola
Come on down to Nuka-World and see it for yourself
A vacation that refreshes a trip you won’t forget
A park with every minimum acceptable safety standard met
Quench your thirst for adventure at Nuka-World!
This one, right? :P
Once again, Jon goes into danger while standing out in the open and he just... _sits there_
This time he actually took damage as a result of that deer-in-the-headlights tactic. Seriously Jon, when you go into danger -especially against burrowing enemies- the best thing you can do is _sprint for cover_
Cut the guy some slack. Saying "do this instead of panicking" is kind of an impossible ask.
I'm like 90% certain legendary guns are weighted towards enemies that can use them like gunners. The pattern I've seen here matches my own experience.
45:14 finally, a worthy rival to the mutant dog jumpscare
Or the rad stag from survival mode
You know what these videos are lacking.. a sick 80s synthwave beat playing faintly in the background as you play.
Really enjoyed this one. I know its harder and more intense, but its fun to see you adapt on the fly as opposed to going in knowing, and having tested, everything in advance.
Alternative title: "The floor is larva".
Beautiful.
aight, we've basically reached 50% health! this is getting exciting (for the audience) :D
Jon did you pickup the star core in dry rock gulch?
I can't get over how Jon's chest piece would make life so difficult both for sneaking and sharp shooting
Smart grenades, legendary guaranteed spawn question mark
He said in a comment farther down that he didn’t use them in this episode, so he will bin them in the next. It is a fair objection which I do t get how he didn’t catch it.
Fair - I didn't even think about throwables as 'legendary' - I shall bin them all :)
Party pooperrr its a limited use item.
Oh well. He would have probably killed himself with them somehow anyway 😂
Technically not legendary though? Arent they just DLC specific weapons?
@@appleception8142 well it's got the legendary star
"Weapon that isn't melee and doesn't suck"
Gets Missile Launcher
Well, 1/2 ain't bad
According to the Wiki, Glowing Bloodworms have 230 health, that's how they were able to take a shot and survive. As for how the Larvae survived a shot I have no clue.
Also the game is just trolling Jon with these legendary weapon rolls, everytime he asks for a weapon and it gives him one it gives him one that's completely useless to him but also doesn't violate his conditions that he shouts out.
Jon will fall off a wall and that'll be the end of the run. Calling it now
