This is a song I play a lot, but it sounds a load better with your Drop D Mike, that's for sure. Lovely droning tone you've got with that. Another excellent video from one of the finest young men on YT. Thanks for this Mike!
Mike, I’m not a vet but I found your lessons on the acoustic guitar forum from the link you provided there. Really appreciate what you’re doing and have made a donation to g4v in your name. Have a great vacation!
Do I detect a future lesson? I came to the same conclusion. The drop D really helped that drone sound for both songs. Now if I play both songs at the coffee shop, I need to either space them out run them into each other. You’re awesome, my friend and I always look forward to the weekend to see what you will bring. @@campfire_guitar_lessons
Please tell me the make model and year of this guitar ... Thanks for all you do for us all . I am going to learn a lot from you ... Thank U Ken Wentworth Brewer Maine
Mike I’ve got another song for you. I believe it’s in double drop D with a capo on 4. It’s Long Ride Home by Patty Griffin. Also check out the Youngstown version by Blue Moon Rising.

[Dm] They built a blast furnace here along the shore
[Cadd9] And they made the cannon balls that helped the Union win the [Dm] war
[Dm] Here in [Cadd9] Youngstown, here in [Dm] Youngstown
[Dm] My sweet [F] Jenny I'm sinking [C] down
[C] Here darling in Youngs- [Dm] -town
[Dm] Well my daddy worked the furnaces, kept 'em hotter than hell
I come [Cadd9] home from 'Nam worked my way to scarfer, a job to suit the devil as [Dm] well
[Dm] Taconite coke and limestone fed my children and made my pay
Them [Cadd9] smokestacks reaching like the arms of God into a beautiful sky of [Dm] soot and clay
[Dm] Here in [Cadd9] Youngstown, here in [Dm] Youngstown
[Dm] My sweet [F] Jenny I'm sinking [C] down
[C] Here darling in Youngs- [Dm] -town
Well my [F] daddy come on the O- [C] hio works when he come home from World War [Dm] Two
Now the yard's just scrap and [Cadd9] rubble, he said them big boys did what Hitler [Dm] couldn't do
These [F] mills they built the [C] tanks and bombs that won this country's [Dm] wars
We [Cadd9] sent our sons off to Vietnam, now we're wond’rin’ what they were [Dm] dying for
[Dm] Here in [Cadd9] Youngstown, here in [Dm] Youngstown
[Dm] My sweet [F] Jenny I'm sinking [C] down
[C] Here darling in Youngs- [Dm] -town

To the [Cadd9] coal mines of Appalachia, the story's always the [Dm] same
[Dm] Seven hundred tons of metal a day, now sir you tell me the world's changed
[Cadd9] Once I made you rich enough, rich enough to forget my [Dm] name
And [Cadd9] Youngstown, and [Dm] Youngstown
[Dm] My sweet [F] Jenny I'm sinking [C] down
[C] Here darling in Youngs- [Dm] -town

That warms my heart Bob! Thanks for your generosity. Feel free to DM me anytime on the AGF.
I take it has a two fold meaning,am Navy vet and a guitar vet.
Sounds great Mike. I wish my SJ-200 sounded like that, but it is not the "airplane, it is the pilot"...jeje! Enjoy your vacation! ....Tony
Thanks Tony! I still am amazed by the tone of this guitar… can’t believe I played guitar for 51 years before buying one. Glad you have one, too.
I hear a little “Turn The Page” there at the beginning. Might explore that with the tuning. Thanks as always Mike. -Arron, Homeland Chaplains
Thanks Arron! Yes, similar structure and feel to Turn the Page. Just tried it and it works well, although there is a Bb in there.
