Aloha, Mike. Another trick to use to enable more keys is to use another capo across all of the strings 2 frets closer to the nut from the partial capo. So, for instance, a capo across ALL strings at the 3rd fret and this trick at the 5th fret puts you into the key of "G" when the root chord is the "D" chord as you're playing it here. You can also play in the key of "C" by using the "G" form as the root chord (G - C - D) and get a BIG sound on the V chord (5 chord), the "D" form when you get to it in the song. Using the capos at the 2nd Fret and 4th Fret is a fairly easy way to play in the key of "F". Don't forget to use an extra finger for the "nut" fret on the 6th string when playing the VI minor of the 4 chord G progression - the "Em" of G - Em - C - D.
I recently came across your posts on alternate tunings and the capo hacks. You get right into it and don't waste time. Very informative and I thank you so much.

Which year is this J200 from? I am looking at this and the Guild J55. I don't know if it is the players, but there seems to be quite a difference in sound quality on some of these guitars.
I bought it new in April of this year, M, so it’s most likely a 2020 model. It is the SJ200 Standard. I love the Guild jumbos, too, but there is something about the J200 that I love. The store where I bought it had 4 of them, so I was lucky enough to be able to compare tone and playability amongst several. The one I bought was the least expensive, and possessed the best tone. You are correct… there is significant variation between even identical models… so I would recommend playing one in person, or buying from a source that has a solid return policy.

The thing about playing the A chord at the fifth fret is you can slide in to it and that adds a nice touch.
