I LOVE that you got advice from your Grandmother and Grammy about beauty (and I'm sure so much more). The passing down of advice from our elders to us like that is missing so much in today's world.
I’m so glad you support the more common labels rather than the exclusive (and expensive!) products we are encouraged to use in advertising and by influencers. I use several of the same products as you, though for face wash I decided on what my mother-in-law used-Noxema!
I used to love using the Noxema pads as a teen! Those common brands that have been around for decades make me feel so much better than the new and now because how can you really know, you know?
Thank you for sharing that we shouldn’t feel like we have to have what “everyone” says we should, but should find and use what works for us individually. I have lupus and very sensitive skin, so am picky about what I use, but I also have a teenage daughter who has sensitive skin and am working hard to share with her what works so she doesn’t just purchase trendy things. I’ve also found that some of my grandmother’s products work better for me. There’s so much wisdom in using what worked for our particular family since we’ve most likely inherited their traits. I, too, have found scent or the lack of it to be a powerful mood changer for me, and though I can’t always use scented products or perfumes, I’ve found adding scents to my home through simmer pots and herbs or greens make a huge difference.
You have such a refreshing perspective on shopping and influence. I have been influenced in the past to buy certain products as it can really feel like you're missing out if you don't buy it. Almost always it's just a marketing and not some miracle. I keep reminding myself that I don't need to buy new things that keep popping up, especially if I already have something that needs to be used up that works well.
Wow! While watching this video, I was mentally deferring myself from window shopping your products mentioned, telling myself that the products I currently use are working for me. Then you went on to talk about the same topic. Thank you for highlighting that, and pointing it out! In a world of influence/sales, I find that so refreshing!
I see so much of your face in that photo of your grandma. Look at grammys eyebrows, that arch perfect. So pretty Nikki. Thank you sharing grammy's wisdom about lotion right out of the shower. I'll implement that myself. I always dry off first then lotion. It makes sense. I use that Vaseline lotion too but the lavender one. It's my favorite. 🎀💕
I towel off but not completely and keeping the lotion in the shower means I do that right in there before hitting the cool air. I’m so glad this was helpful 🎄
I love that you were inspired by your grandmothers! I'm older than you but we were taught skincare by mother and aunts. I use some Oil of Olay products they remind me of my mother and aunts..i love that color of lipstick on you
Hi Nikki, I like how you titled this video ,"original influencers". My original influencers were my mother and my grandmother. My mother was very fashionable ,especially in her younger years and my grandmother always wore Chanel number 5. And so ever since I was old enough to appreciate it, I've always had a bottle of Chanel number 5 just to remember her by. Thank you for sharing all of your beauty secrets. I really appreciate it.
I love this video, Nikki! I love Summer's Eve "Delicate Blossom", ever since you mentioned it years ago. I still use it to this day. I can't wait to try these products. Thank you for sharing your Grandmother's and Grammy's beauty and skincare tips.
What an enjoyable video. One grandmother used Olay while the other used Vaseline on her face. Due to sensitivity, I use Cereve. Love the introductory picture.
Wow! I love the picture of you between both your grandmothers. 3 beautiful ladies! 🌸You have many traits from both. God is so amazing in how He made people! People are true miracles! God bless you!❤🙏🏻🕊🎄
I try to stick to using the same products as well. I have sensitive skin and I’m very sensitive to fragrances. I have tried unscented products and healthier alternatives but I missed fragrance and smelling nice. I love the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet perfume. ❤❤❤
Try out Carolina Herrera the original in a tester. It's lovely very feminine and elegant it's a splurge for a big gift but it lasts all day and I have a small bottle for my anniversary and I usually use last bit a week or two before my next anniversary
Thanks for sharing your products! I love that you know yourself and what works for you. I get so easily influenced that it's ridiculous. Your video is really helping me think through that. My grandmother used Olay and had the most beautiful skin. And I also love the fragrance of it. It's so comforting to me.
I’m enjoying this video so much I agree about using Oil of Olay face creams I’m 80 years old and I started using them in my 30’s still use them I was told that because you pay a lot for skin products doesn’t make them better you always look so beautiful and you’re my favorite Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas ❤
Thank you for sharing! I’ve been using an exclusive, rather expensive skin care routine for the past year and while I love it, it has become too expensive for me to continue so I am looking at other routines. I have very oily skin and hair and I don’t like complicated skin care routines, so definitely will be taking a look at some of these products! I switched to aluminum free deodorant years ago and it does take some adjusting, but it does work!
My mother in law has always used oil of olay and has always had skin twenty years younger including now in her late 80s she looks like she's in her 60s. I have used it since my 30s and am now 56 and my skin doesn't look my age. I like how olay just melts into the skin.iys pretty and smells nice too
My grandmother always used Oil of Olay too and had beautiful skin. It used to be called Ulay then. I live in England, so wasnt familiar with all of the products, but I think what you use are very similar in the UK. I use a hot cloth cleanser with Liz Earls Cleanse & polish. I too, put my creams in prettier containers and wait until it's empty before refilling. I put essential oils in my body cream & in the bath. I like Vaseline too. Your Grandmothers and yourself all look as though you have beautiful skin, so I think you're a fantastic advertisement for skincare. Thankyou for sharing 😊 love from Rose Cottage 🌹
@TheLadyoftheHouse you are very welcome. Thankyou for your inspiration and I wish you and your family good health and happiness and a very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 😊
I love these videos Nikki! And also. I feel like you take your looks after your Grandmother (you said your dad's mother), just as beautiful and chic as she seemed to be.
Hi Nikki, You have a stark resemblance to your Father's Mom. 3 very elegant ladies!. This is what I use: I use the same type of makeup removing pads you showed and they are amazing!. I wash my face with whatever "natural" bar Soap I have available. I love Rose water interchangeably with witch hazel as astringents and follow up with unscented Shea butter on my face and body. I sometimes use Castor oil for keeping a "youthful looking skin and for wrinkle prevention "presumably". For my hair, I've been using the Giovanni line of products for a long time now from TJ Maxx or marshalls, or wherever it's on sale. I use native sensitive deodorant and desert essence toothpaste. 😁
Well, I was influenced to buy the Olay cream. haha! I needed a good day cream for the colder months. And the reminder to use lotion right out of the shower. I follow my mom's skin care lead. She just washes her face and uses a moisturizer and she has great, clear skin. I add 2 more steps but keeping it simple is what, I think, keeps skin looking good. These $1,500 Sephora 20 step routines are insane to me, especially for teens. I like your bit at the end about you not being influenced by other influencers. Can you do more of a chat on how you use social media, how often etc? Just curious! Thanks for this series. Looking forward to the Winter Diaries.
I'm glad to see you're not a "crunchy " mom when it comes to fragrances and all natural labels in products 😅 I cant use some if that stuff if it doesn't smell good. If you ever want to try a different deodorant I love the native toasted vanilla and honey. It such a light feminine fragrance I wish they had a lotion but I do use the shampoo and conditioner. It's a seasonal product right now at target and I plan to stock up!! I have a very simple skin care routine as well .😊
Hi Nikki you look really lovely and l do love that lipstick you wear the colour lights up your face. It's beaut to hear what skincare you use , it certainly is working. Your Grammy and Grandma were lovely ladies. Thank you so much beaut video ❤❤
Hello Nikki, You look so fresh and radiant in this video! I’m glad your sil influenced you to try a non aluminum deodorant; does she have other all natural recommendations? I’m very careful about the products that go on my skin directly. If you have health changes as you approach peri-menopause, you’ll find natural products will help these issues. Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Julie! I’ve tried so many non aluminum deodorants. Unfortunately those haven’t lived up to their promises. This one does an okay job (though it hasn’t been hot) though the rose and peony one smells terrible as does the lavender and sage in my opinion. She uses a mixture of both natural and not, including deodorants. I’m keeping these videos to what I’m using but appreciate your interest. Thank you for the tip🎄
The color of the label that you were trying to remember the fragrance of, I think it was lilac, I bought it before myself, and I'm thinking it is lilac.
I didn't know Ivory had a body wash. I normally use a plain old Dove bar (or dial for dirt) but I'll have to try that one. Feel differently? Lol that seems silly to me. We all have different needs. I couldn't fathom getting offended because my body might not agree with something that someone else's does. I do like how you tend to stick to the tried and trues. It comes off more neighborly.
I associate the smell of Oil of Olay with my mom and grandma. 🥰 My other grandma's beauty secret was Vaseline. There's no school like the old school ❣️
They still make that?!😂 I didnt know. Olay burns my skin, i do agree finding And older person with great skin and listening to them makes a LOT more sense than listening to sponsored 20-year olds with no experience online. For a basic moisturizer for body im definitely all about cerave as a dry person in the midst of winter.... But face wise i prefer at very least a serum with something active and i love glycolic acid to keep everything smooth. My absolute favorite fragrance these days is Valentino Donna born in Roma Intense, but i don't wear it in the winter, im using uo alot of bath and bodyworks right now
I LOVE that you got advice from your Grandmother and Grammy about beauty (and I'm sure so much more). The passing down of advice from our elders to us like that is missing so much in today's world.
The best way to see tried and true results 🎄

I'm so glad you enjoyed that aspect of the conversation 🌹
My mother 80 years old swear by dove soap and some Vaseline. Her skin is flawless. Like literally no wrinkles!
I wash my face with Dove soap! I'm glad I'm in step with your mom :)
That's wonderful to know 🎄
The best influences ever, grandmothers.
Agreed, tried and true 🎄
I love seeing what products people truly use. It’s like chatting with a friend. ☺️
I'm so happy you think so 🎄
You are radiant and lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much🎄
Thanks for sharing such an effective, simple skincare routine. By the way, you look gorgeous with a more red-leaning lipstick!
Thank you so much🎄

Nikki! Thank you much for talking about the cosmetics with the fragrance; It’s very important for me and now I know what to look for.
I'm glad you found it helpful🎄
My gran used olay. Nivea and max factor make up. I love them all 💖
If anyone has sensitive teeth/sensitive to abrasion and acid or prone to cavities Aquafresh sensitive is a really good one
What an enjoyable video. One grandmother used Olay while the other used Vaseline on her face. Due to sensitivity, I use Cereve. Love the introductory picture.

Yes, it was really hard to look forward to putting my face moisturizer on when it was unscented🎄

I completely agree! My Grandma was using it well into her 90’s. That’s so nice to know you enjoy it too 🎄
Hi, looking at the pictures of your grandmothers, you look so much like your Dad's mom. You have her smile.

It's hard to keep up with, especially something you use daily. I agree, there was an adjustment period 🎄

Hi Nikki, I appreciate these suggestions. I am going to purchase some of the OLAY products in January and like the fact that they are budget friendly.
I'm so glad you found this helpful 🎄

Nothing wrong with a little "crunch." As long as you're not preachy and pushy about it...that's off-putting and changes no one's mind.
Hi Nikki you look really lovely and l do love that lipstick you wear the colour lights up your face. It's beaut to hear what skincare you use , it certainly is working. Your Grammy and Grandma were lovely ladies. Thank you so much beaut video ❤❤

@ I layer my very healthy deo on first then skim a layer of clinical deodorant if I’m leaving the house.
The color of the label that you were trying to remember the fragrance of, I think it was lilac, I bought it before myself, and I'm thinking it is lilac.
