You’re a great interviewer, Chris. I’ve watched a lot of Stevens’ content and you asked questions I don’t believe he’s gotten before. Great stuff. Cheers from Denver 🍻

At the end of the day, this exercise teaches us that, in many cases, looking terrible in public isn’t as bad as we believe. Sure, we might get some looks and giggles, but these don’t hurt, now do they? The Cynic philosopher Diogenes of Sinope used to sleep in a barrel on the streets, walking around in ragged clothes, ‘pleasured’ himself in public, and insulted people who walked past him. He didn’t care what people thought of him. Therefore, no one was able to hurt him.

I feel you can accept life happens without being a victim. A victim mentality is in the mind but nobody knows for sure what tomorrow brings with any certainty, but that doesn't mean you are a victim.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing martyn. I spent years in meditation and self inquiry to come to the conclusion that there is no control because when i drilled down the the very fabric of my experience I could not find anything that suggested otherwise. This doesn't make me a victim, it just makes me more self-aware and insightful than most. When most people say they feel 'in control' what they actually mean is that they are generally confident that the outcomes of their activities are aligned with their goals.

@@spoonblender797 Yes you have explained albeit more eloquently what I was trying to say. Thanks for the reply.

@@martynspooner5822 Another way of looking at what Steven means is that a victim mentality, where you believe you are powerless to make the changes you want in your life, is a blocker of the flow state (which needs to be addressed with some psychological work) because the openness to the possibility of ease and success is a prerequisite of habitually getting into such a state. i.e. there is a causal link between mindset and flow.

Yes definitely which is why I find it so strange that now we seem to be having a competition to see who the biggest victim is. ie who has the most excuses to justify just about anything.

This is the first episode I've seen from this channel that was genuinely bad quality. I had to stop watching after 15min. This was low IQ stuff and the host didn't call the BS out. Disappointing.
