I'm from the Philippines. Using my South Bend Microlite UL /5ft fishing rod with my 1000 series Spinning Reel loaded with x4, 6 lbs. Braid line and 10 lbs. Mono leader line, I landed a 5.2 kgs of Pangasius hooked in size #15 Carbon Steel Circle hook.
I totally get it they are for sure a budget rod. Another Rod I really like is this one here Ugly Stik Elite Spinning Rod 4'6"... www.amazon.com/dp/B00VS0QTYW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I have really enjoyed this rod and I think it would be great in a 5-foot or 6-foot as well

Wow nice! That is a big fish on such light gear! Keep it up and let me know the biggest fish you can get on that set up! Thanks for the comment
i have the 7 foot 1pc version and that thing works miracles for bluegill, crappie, trout, and bass
Nice, I would think the longer rod would be helpful for casting a little further and more accurate.
Those are some hungry bluegill! Way to go
Thanks man! Appreciate the view!
I gone today at Walmart with south bend spinning combo
Nice I hope that works out for you. Have fun out there
@@FlyFishingTexan thanks 🙏
Need to put one of those in my TJ, kind of low on space haha!
Yeah Really! Space Saver!!! Great for tight small creeks and on the kayak as well!! Best thing is between rod and tackle it is ALL so CHEAP!
I just snapped 2 of these exact rods over the weekend. It was fun while it lasted but I think I'll be looking for something of more quality.

@@FlyFishingTexan thanks a lot

the one in the video is a 4' rod, but the 7' and 7.5' are much Better as you can get more distance on the cast for sure!!
How big of a difference is there between light and ultra light? I can't decide on a 4'6 ultralight or 5'6 light rod.
@@drakekoch6356 it's going to be line and lure weight and casting distance. I only have one rod under 5.5ft and I use it for trout
There is a San Gabriel river in California with trout!!
Nice ours doesn't have trout but it has some awesome bass population!
FlyFishingTexan nice i wish our rivers here were more clean. The part in the mountains is a lot cleaner though
Hey thats the same rod I have! Gimme my rod back! 😃
I'll sell it back to you for $20. 🤣😂🤣
