    Great review on the wheels Zack, I like how you are supporting smaller brands and sharing what they are about. Your ring comment had me thinking of Tony Hawks video Thrasher released a few weeks ago where he broke his finger in the pool and had to get the ring sawed off.

    Zack, you need to try the NFG 95a 'Crust' formula. They breakaway for reverts and slides easy, and they are superior for the type of skateboarding your promoting. The speed difference with the medium soft wheel is noticeable in those sub pristine riding surfaces, in older parks, street and ditches.

    I've been riding these wheels for a while now after making the switch from spitfires, and the nfg wheels are MUCH BETTER imo. The spitfires can feel ice skatey at times and are harder to break into a powerslide. The NFGs are really forgiving with grip, they have enough traction to not slide out on accident but the second you try to get into a powerslide they break grip super easy and slide super predictably. Basically everything that you like about a formula four but a step up in the feel and control they provide. I definitely recommend. My one wish is that they would offer a "lock in" style shape!

    I probably shouldn't have clicked on this video cuz I ended up buying two sets. I love my Formula 4 OG classics but they can be hard to find in the size and hardness I want, so happy to learn about NFG. It has been a while since I have ridden some fat ass 95a wheels so looking forward to getting around the city on those and got a set of seconds to try the hard ones out at the park

    • @johnroy3857
      @johnroy3857 2 роки тому

      got the wheels a couple days after ordering. the slide is very similar to formula 4. The Vee shape appears to be the same the set of Slimeballs I have. Not quite as wide as the OG Classics because they don't have the rounded lip. The production seconds come unbleached, so kind of a unique tannish color. Pretty solid alternative to Spitfire. The center hole between the bearing hubs is big enough for built-in spacer bearings so that's a plus if you use those. Anyway. 95a nice break away on some hill bombs, nice slide on nose/tailslides, little grippy for reverts at the park, but decently smooth getting through the streets compared to 99s or 101s without sacrificing too much.

    That's dope I've skated a few brands over the years and always fall back to the formula 4 classics. Other then the flat spot resistant aspect I never really noticed a difference between brands. But actual size throws me off. Was skating destroyed element wheels and traded some art for bones stf wheels 58mm. Which turned out to be really bad wheel bite almost killed me. I got the classics 54mm now. They're still kinda big but sizing your wheel to your board and trucks is more important then the brand.

    • @roybatty4578
      @roybatty4578 2 роки тому +4

      I skate 58 mm, they're good for bowls but you gotta use 1/8" risers so the wheelbite doesn't send you to the hospital lol

    Hi, I ride spitfires but those wheels look nice. About the chunks taken from the edge, I think it is because of the shape of the wheel, never happened to me since I started using rounded spitfire wheels but they returned when I went back to the "tablet" or similar shape. More stability and grip or easier flips and powerslides. Everything has its ups and downs.
    Cool that you try small skater owned companies, shipping costs make me impossible to try some things but my next pair of trucks will be the same as you are riding here.

    I was hoping you would do the same flat spot test on the NFG as you did the Spitfires for a good comparison. I've been debating trying NFG for a while, they seem promising. I thought about going with the Vee shape since I skate miniramp. They look like they'd lock in really well. The way they're coming apart though has me worried.

    I think you’re a real nice guy that’s very honest but for me these wheels aren’t worth it. My experience with them is that right from the opening the graphic was peeling off. The new production quality is marginally better than the production seconds. If I’m spending $40 plus shipping on wheels I’d like better quality. Yes the wheels feel good and go fast but they have too many aesthetic issues. I’m done with them unless things improve in the later generations.
