the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
With Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
More details on the sink install, plumbing and the grill install please. Looks great! Love your channel!
Thanks, Mike. This video inspired me to build an outdoor kitchen. This is the largest project I've ever attempted. I didn't follow your design exactly, but the video provided the underlying fundamentals. My wife is thrilled with the result. Next I will be building the $3 stools to go with it!
great alternative for not having to frame up for heavy poured concrete!!! Great Job, I'm going to try this!!!!
Thank you so much for the video. I love it. Thanks to you, I build my own kitchen. Greetings from Austria
Hey my name is Mike Montgomery to I live in Osceola Iowa and i have to say this is awesome of what u done keep it up
This is awesome man!!! been thinking of making an outdoor kitchen myself. Loved how you showed us the process so we can use our own dimensions too!
I noticed the outline of your feet you drew on the floor at 1:28, so you could do the cool fingersnap transition. I just love how much effort you invest in this videos.
Nice job but I would definitely use Metal framing around the BBQ portion.
My contractor built a very similar outdoor kitchen, I too was concerned about grill heat on the wood framing. It has not been a problem. We used granite contertops, an inexpensive , common variety of granite is not much more expensive than concrete countertops. Looks nicer, IMO. I agree with using cedar siding, naturally rot and insect resistant. Another thing to consider. Spend the extra money ( $500 in my case ) to have a natural gas line run to your kitchen. I use my grill and side burner A LOT, I would have used 20 propane tanks in a year is my wild guess. Saves a lot of hassle, and I think it is safer. I just shut off the natural gas behind the kitchen when I am done. The only thing I am changing is that in my area(Houston), there is enough rain and moisture that even though my kitchen is totally covered, there are little mildew spots on my cedar siding even though I clear-coated right after the install. I am going to cover up the cedar on the outside with some sort of pre-fab rock siding for the look. Still recommend the cedar though, it is insect and rot resistant due to it's high oil content. Nice video overall, good job , sir.
The natural gas idea would be a good idea, but we don't have NG service on our property. Thanks a lot!!
I build these at work we use aluminum square tube we are in Florida by the ocean
I've seen some builds like this posted to reddit where people note the dangers of a fire hazard installing a grill pressed up to wood. Any danger in this?
I remember seeing this video 2 years back and now i am making my own outdoor kitchen. Could you share how this kitchen is holding up in terms of weathering of wood? Does it look as new and great as day 1? :) Thank you!
I am building a "L" to fit beside my grill. Your video was short and to the point and bookmarked for reference - I especially love the idea of Cedar fence boards ($1.64ea) to cover it. It will give it an expensive look. Many thanks. I am off to see your other videos and sub!
Beautiful Craftsmanship. You make it all look so easy....possibly your passion. Great Videos, ty!!
The voice over sounds like Cartman is telling me how to make this and I love it
sounds more like mr.garrrison
You really surrounded a grill with SUPER flammable materials....WOW!
I know.... I was excited to see what he used to block the heat from the wood framing. Lol. Never came. Let me know if anyone has videos of building same structure with something besides metal frame. Thanks!
Do you have any input on building an outdoor kitchen using a gas/charcoal grill combo and a stand alone smoker as the base equipment
3 vids into your channel and I'm already hooked. I love your work, Mike. Great job!
+Heidi Pharo That's awesome! Thanks a lot
Great job man! :)
+Make it Extreme Thanks man
This is amazing, I would love to build this in my garden but I live in Scotland so I would only be able to use it a few times in the summer due to the cold wet weather we have here, well done on the project
+Bazp83 Thanks a lot. We were lucky enough to have a pretty mild winter. I'd love to visit Scotland some say though.
If ur worried about the heat from the grill....just install 1 or 2 layers of fire coded dryewall on all 4 sides ,then mud it all up simple fix
Use Durock. Basically a sheet of fiber reinforced concrete.
good stuff, I realize what I want to build I need more than a skill saw !!!
Awesome work! My only issue would be that wasps would move in through the gaps in the floor boards and it’s be a big wasp nest. I would put in some sort of screening over those gaps.
Great looking kitchen! On my way to the concrete countertop video now...
You made it look so easy! Now you can come over and do one for me!
Hi, this is one of the best DIY kitchens for outdoor among all UA-cam DIY videos! I want to know what you used for coating the counter top. Is it concrete? If it is, how did you make it so shiny? Is it just clear sealer?
Great video! Just finished mine and kept it very close to your idea. BTW great idea with the wood core doors as a base for the counter tops. The only different thing I did was I use sand mix for the concrete top and strained it with semi-transparent stain. I love I. Thank you very much.
Right on!! That's so awesome!! Glad to hear it went smooth
to float the framing could i just use 1" tall cinder red eyed into a concrete patio? it's sloping so ill have fun figuring how the angles... but yeah, would a base plate of cinder be a good start?
Did you mention this in the video? Did you just use regular 2x4's or did you pressure treated?
using the doors as countertops - great idea
This is really nice work ... thank u u giving me ideas!
Here again .its veen sum years since first viewed...thanks Mr
YES!
+Crafted Magazine Finally, right lol
+Modern Builds hah, yea. Love the look of the cedar fencing.
You are using 2x4 right for the base ?
Thanks, awesome video !
Good stuff. Thanks for the tips
I’d love to know the dimensions on this. Trying to plan mine now but feel I’m going too big however this is perfect
I see it's a nexgrill, same as I have. how did you add the knob for the side burner, in the cabinet? Also like others have asked did you insulate around the grill?
How do you keep the heat from the grill from charring the surrounding wood?
fabulously done, inexpensive, fairly fast and easy, thank you!!
No problem! I'm glad you like it!
I would love to have an outdoor kitchen but my husband is not handy and we can’t afford to pay a company to build one for us . Very nice job man!!!!👌
Omg you make it look so easy!!!
Still watching, but I know it's gonna be Great!! Keep up the fantastic work man!!!!!
+Wefird thanks a lot!
fantastic job there bro, you make it so easy for the first timer, simple and clear instructions, thanks so much.
I'm glad you dig it!! Thanks a lot
Thanks. You made it so easy .
Building this right now. The video is a great help. Cheers
That looks amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!! 💘 your energy!!! U seem like a cool person!!!!😁 bahahahaha..your intro though!!! U related to JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY 😆
BAD ASS DUDE!!!! This is the best DIY I've seen so far!!!
Thanks Mike!
Really cool great job!
Hi Mike can you tell me what did you put between the grill to prevent heat from hitting the wood thanks awesome job
Question, how did you have running water to the sink. Did You use your out door/backyard water hose hook-up.
Good to see everything coming together! nice job man! great result
+Cactus! workshop thanks buddy!
Little advice for anyone building this, use PT(pressure treated) lumber for the bottom plates. I don't see those pieces of PT ply holding up long term.
I was thinking the same thing
Great video! It looks amazing! I was curious what nail gun do you use?
Mike, please answer. How is this thing holding up? Can you please do a followup?
awesome! i love it!
Sweet build.
This is GREAT. Thanks man!
Great job!
how did you put the grill on top of the project you have done?
very good, man, i want to do one of these for me, can you make the measurements available?
Question: For the Grill and side burner. Did you just placed them in place (wood frame) or you installed anything on the frame to protect the frame from heat or even possibility of burning??
How can this be modified slightly to add shelving inside? Want to use this structure for a open retail desk.
great job I definitely want to do this when I have money and time good job Mike
+Jose Duran That's awesome! Go for it
Hey what does the sink drain into? I have thought about a sink outside but not sure of best way to make useable without plumbing to the house.
Instead of using the pressure treated lumber for the corners can I use the pressure treated lumber and metal underneath it.
Really like this project
Great build!!!
you are one of inspiration that want me to do a video and give people inspiration too, thank you.
Great job👍 makes me want to go and buy some tools😁
Inspired! Thanks for the info -- this is a great video & project.
Awesome!! Thanks Sandy
Sid from Ice Age!! Haha shhanks 💀
Do you show in another video how you attached the sink and the drain?
Once framing is done, how does it stay into place if on a patio?
Where did you installed the side burner knob and how you hook it up?
Great Review!. Informative Und Clear Und Well Organized.
Big Thanks From Kuwait
Thanks a lot!
Muy buen trabajo mi Amigó, en español por favor para saber bien las medidas esta padre tu diseño, bendiciones
Hi I want to do an outdoor kitchen cabinet . I love how u do ur frame so easy . My question is , is it enough just to do the frame? What about the inside of the cabinet ? I thought there’s a frame and then there’s an inside board like the usually kitchen cabinet .
that intro was epic, good work all around!
+Bobby DeLuna Haha, thanks a lot
Weird question.... how long is the countertop overhang for the bar seats?
Hey my brother I got to make one of them wen I move out to my own house awesome later :)
What have others used as a fire preventer
Ok I clicked on link fr the concrete countertop and it said it was unavailable so I Nd info on that as well as more detailed on that sink n water running thru it etc. but great job luks gorgeous!!!
Great video. How's the counter holding up?
Would have loved to see how you set the grill!
How did you install the heat shield on the sides of the grill
Follow up video question - how did you do the plumbing for the sink? Awesome builds, love your videos!
+Kaleb Kueckelhan Thanks, Noted!
Where did you get the sink, and how did you get the drain and supply
Hi love the video is it ok to have a grill so close to the wood want to build a bar with a grill built-in like you have done.
Good job man, very nice
What did you put on the doors for the counter top?
How is this bar holding up? I'm wondering if the cedar planks warped over time.
What is the best way to attach the frame to the concrete?
Hi would you put anything between the bbq and the wood to stop it scorching .?
that's amazing, hope for the best in the future
Thanks a lot!
What type of coating did you put on the wood to make it weather proof? Also, how do you open the doors if there are no handles? Lol
What happened to the concrete counters video? It says it was removed?
I want to give this build a try
Go for it!
Where do you get your cedar fence posts. I've used them from Home Depot and they look like crap. Either warped, cupping terribly or just uneven. These look beautiful.
what is the height and width of your bar. nice job
how much it coast you for that u made? it was nice..
