  • Stations 200, 800, and 600 respond to the 100 block of 12th street in the Altizer area of Huntington, West Virginia for the working apartment fire. First in companies found heavy smoke on the delta side and made entry there. While first in companies were making fire attack, the bravo side (this video) became engulfed in heavy fire. On arrival, there was very little smoke showing on this side and within minutes there was heavy fire that originated on an exterior couch and spread very fast to adjacent apartments and the exterior of those. Units operated for approx 3 hours. Helmet cam is worn by Ohio River Road FF Kiser.
Please use the video as a training tool. In post-action conference, the issues were addressed and situational awareness was addressed.

If you take the door you can close it. If you take the window it can become a source of oxygen for the fire .

Is there an assignment where you can spray the hose from the exterior of the structure? I would prefer to not go into a burning structure full of smoke or get on a ladder lol but obviously I do it if neccessary

5% of USA fire departments do what you say. 95% like to climb on the roof of a burning building and go inside to play with the flames. In other words, they don't think of their responsibility to their families at all while they are Gettig Off! In other words, the 5%ers are the responsible adults with the strong work ethic necessary to get the job done quickly and safely.

@@efd316smokin4 You ever hear the phrase, " You can talk the talk but you can't walk the talk"? You don't evaluate anything. Thinking isn't part of the job in the USA. "Run into a burning building and climb on the roof whether it's warranted or not.". That, is the job description of the USA fire disservice. Watch hundreds of these videos and you'll see it 99% of the time. All, while they let the fire get bigger. After being a Third Generation Real Firefighter, I know the difference.

@@efd316smokin4 What are the odds of that when 95% have no clue. I've been watching these videos religiously for 13 years and was in the workforce for 40 years. I know the USA work ethic. Most departments can't walk the talk. Maybe you are in the minority but based on your textbook or should I say fairytale recital, I kind of doubt it.

They might better concentrate on putting the fire out on that sparking electric line before it really starts a hell of a fire, then they can concentrate on the fire itself.........

Please, for the love of all that is holy, institute some safe breathing apparatus working practices in the US fire service. So unsafe!
Firefighters do an amazing job, especially with the outdated techniques used in the USA, and they deserve to be protected as much as possible! Senior management need to get a grip on this.
    Nice videography though!

The FDNY are the worst offenders and everyone thinks they are the best. They don't care about safety and have no idea whatsoever, how to get the job done.
