    "Without Dieting"
*starts off by describing a diet*

    • @jordanhansen8631

Tip one, Spreading meals out isn't a diet.
Tip two could technically be considered a diet, but it tricks your mind into thinking you're eating enough.
      Tip three is intermittent exercise.
The other things like the carb stuff is just further advice.

I'm 58 too! ( the only 6 pack I've ever had was in the fridge ) But swimming keeps me in shape - at least 30 lengths a day if possible! I eat well, generally AVOID cake, crisps, and carbonated drinks... Only a little belly fat to be honest, and I'm not too thin either... Stay Happy

I lost over 30 pounds on a very high carb diet. You lose weight on a calorie deficit and exercise. I went from 214 to 172 at 6'2".

True a calorie deficet is what causes fat loss but many people consider counting calories a diet and for those who don't want to track but still lose weight lowering your carbs is a great way to do it.

You just lost a bunch of extra fat, this is where it's going to get really difficult. You'll need to start watching your carbs too if you want to get more defined.

This is interesting. I’ve read that eating frequently during the day actually keeps stimulating insulin production resulting in over stimulation of the pancreas leading to insulin resistance which works against weight loss. I think cutting out simple carbs and sugar is the key.

Thanks to the three replies , so far. I am actually curious to hear Bob's thinking about the difference between these two distinct methods of weight management. He clearly had carefully and consciously chosen the smaller meals, spread throughout the day regime ( and it has worked well!) but both 'methods' are employing very different thinking behind their recommendations. Do we let our insulin levels fall or not throughout he day?? Is autophagy truly brought on by regular 16 hour fasts each day or is this 'pseudo science'? And even if "Yes," is this truly beneficial and safe to do for an extended period?

Eating less is fine, but several meals is a no-no..
The stomach needs at least 4-5 hours between meals to digest food,....and then there is the 'inter-digestive' phase, that is essential for the stomach to be prepared for the next meal. This phase is missed if the stomach is burdened with another meal before it has fully dealt with the previous meal.. (even if it is a small quantity like a few almonds).
The key thing that I took from this video was the 'little and often' exercise...

    • @ysvjlv
      @ysvjlv 5 років тому

Only thing I’m not sure of is going from three square meals a day to six mini meals... basically eating the same types and amounts of food over the course of a day, but distributing the content of the three meals over six smaller meals instead. From what I’ve heard and read recently, the advice has returned to eating three squares and eliminating snacks to go at least 12 hrs “fasting” a day (between last meal and first meal the next day)... to better control insulin resistance and causing pancreas to put out insulin too frequently.

Precisely the opposite of what the latest fad du jour says about eating multiple small meals CAUSES insulin spikes and weight gain from insulin resistance. Nobody knows what they are talking about. As in so much of science, the next group of studies will radically change or contradict what the previous ones found. Bottom line, its fuel in vs fuel out. Whether you call fuel calories, carbs, fat, or whatever, you have to take in less fuel than you use so the deficit gets balanced by the body drawing on fat reserves. It will resist doing this because it thinks you are in a famine. Weight loss is not natural to our caveman bodies. Takes a lot of work and dedication to outdo our genetics. Now, back to the treadmill...

*+i2007t* I'm sorry but reading what you just wrote and seeing the videos you upload, you're full of contradictions and irony. They're just people's opinions yet your videos is almost entirely people's opinion, do you not believe the people in your videos because they don't have control groups?
How about I lost 100 pounds in 11 months because of a diet called Keto. This diet is a lowering of carbs and an increase of Fats. I taught my body to get its energy from Fat and not sugars or carbs AKA Glucose. I was able to, for my first time in my life, not think about food all day because my body got what it really wanted.
The reason we eat Carbs all the time is because carbs make us perpetually hungry which is good for business if you're selling food and explains why most Western societies are overweight. If you're struggling to lose weight and you require a pier reviewed study and knowledge of the control group and where it's at, how many people, etc... then you wont try any diet that might actually work for you. We are, after all, our worst opponent.

I'm a licensed dietitian and exercise physiologist. It would be nice if other healthcare didn't act like they know diet when your license and education isn't in this area at all. I don't give my patients rehab advice.
There is evidence based information on this topic and position and practice papers that you can read and even get interdisciplinary certification on if you are other healthcare, but it seems as though other healthcare just are completely oblivious of the fact that there are specialists in this topic and a dedicated healthcare professional for diet. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated healthcare professional for non rehab exercise advice though, which should be an exercise physiologist (someone with a BS and master's in exercise physiology who works in fitness industry among all the weekend certifications).
Everyone on the internet thinks they are a diet and exercise specialist.
But whatever, yall are guaranteeing me job security by continuing to promote misinformation that I have to clear up, but it is also frustrating that people then question legit info and we have to prove everything we say while other healthcare gets their word taken for truth.
