- The Bakhmut direction is one of the hottest in the current phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Near Bakhmut, Russian casualties number in the thousands, but the city continues to be controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian military is trying to carry out assault operations in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. They also continue to fire at the southern and border regions - Sumy and Kharkiv regions - and terrorize the civilian population of the Kherson region, striking at civilian infrastructure. It actually implies that the Russian solders are surviving the battles and ukrain is always getting fresh recruits to replace all the dead ones. You like many don't realize this. But only America and ukrain claim 100 k killed where as the rest of the world is saying around 20k Russians killed. The actual amount is probably less.
The Ukrainian channels also state that there is discipline in the Ukrainian army, so they do not live like pigs. They wash, they change clothes and they are rotated regularly. They are often shocked when they capture Orc positions and see garbage everywhere.

Questionable as defensive move to save a country it is more curious as an offensive move, especially when Putin is openly using what his society considers the less-desirable members. We have people in this country who think prisoners are somehow state property and should be used for cheap or free labor. Thankfully these voices infrequently prevail.
