Hi, appreciate your work. I would suggest considering this: a video on how the adult life of ADHD kids shapes up, the kind of jobs that they will excel at and will minimize the negative consequences & challenges, how they can get trained for independent future life without parents. I surely understand there is no one path that fits everyone, but I'm concerned that providing a support system in the childhood that may not help once they are adults will accentuate their problems when they have to deal with realities of life. The possibility I worry is that these kids will be dependent on parents for making a structure and routine for them. I would rather have my kid choose a path that they can live in an environment and work that suits their brain structure. Yet another issue in adulthood is choosing a life partner, if we could guide them how they can make an informed choice, and if they can get a partner who understands or supports the situation, it would go a long way. For an ADHD kid, what's more important is ways to deal with the differences in their brain, rather than learning calculus, or such other practically useless topics, which most students never ever put to any use in real life anyway. It would be great if someone could come up with a pragmatic future oriented adult development program, vis-a-vis a program to change them so they can be force fitted into a school system meant for stereo typical (whatever that means) children.
Can a child receive a teacher aid for math without a math disability? My child is struggling and the school will not provide individual help for him in math because he doesn’t have a math disability, but he does have ADHD and qualifies for services under IDEA under the OHI, so I’m confused why he is not getting the individual help in math he clearly needs. The small group with his teacher isn’t helping and still this is all they are providing. He is getting poor grades in all math areas, yet they believe this is only bc of the ADHD, yet his doctor who diagnosed him with ADHD believes he could have a math disability based on the evaluation I had her look over. The school is attributing his weaknesses to ADHD, yet all other subjects are fine. This doesn’t add up and it was said bc he likes reading better, but he didn’t until he began struggling. I have worked with him a long time and I have always felt that something was going on in math, but he was able to learn it the way we worked together, but now he isn’t getting that specialized help and is just lost and very upset. His confidence is taking a hit and this is what I wanted to prevent. They believe in the wait and see approach, but research no longer supports this and has found that those same students do not catch up when you keep waiting or hold them back. It is no longer seen a a best practice. I’m doing everything I know to do and even those things I haven’t known, but have paid for extensive training to educate myself. I’ve taken LETRS training, so I can teach reading the right way. The school uses Lucy Calkins which teaches reading using this silly cueing strategy that has been debunked and has been proven to harm children with disabilities, as it is not evidence based and isn’t teaching kids the way their brains can learn. As far as the math I am having to pay a tutor and all of these things we are having to do is very expensive and it seems as though his education isn’t free nor is it appropriate. I’ve told them what measures have been take in order to help him and supplement what they aren’t providing. They are not considering the extra help he is getting at home and should be. This is very hard, but I won’t let my son fail because of a lousy school. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).
Special education doesn't essentially mean that they need to be a slow paced program for lower capability. An IEP based strengths and weaknesses of a child, that is different from the main stream is also Special Education.

I don’t think kids should have special Ed because of ADHD, it’s really not a disability
What is a disability?
