    Ike Turner redeemed himself at the end by trying to make right with his past. He apologized to Tina and their kids whom was traumatized by witnessing the abuse of their mother. Ike Turner was complex character whom experienced must violence and racism in his life which turned his heart into a stone. But was was melted in his 70s he gave all he had to music. And won a Grammy on his own before he died in 2007. No one is a perfect human being we all have faults. But Ike Turner redeemed himself and he is a legend whose music will be heard for all time. R.I.P Ike Turner (1931-2007)

      @@jackjames1694 that’s your opinion. I don’t believe anyone can “redeem” themselves after abusing someone. You can try to make amends/apologize or even “change.” But that’s a permanent stain.

    • @KingTriton1837
      @KingTriton1837 5 років тому +4

      Darrin Robinson Ri Ri was Aretha Franklin's nickname. And I don't think anyone forgot anything. Ike found it and nurtured it.... And then he abused the shit out of her. She had the talent all along. He opened the door for her. And don't deal with the negativity. Tina sure as hell didn't after 1976. Ike was no angel and he admitted that in his own autobiography. He admitted to slapping Tina and he said he even punched her to the ground on a TV interview. Tina has said in BOTH of her autobiographies that Ike was very, very nasty to her and that's why she never spoke to him again. I love Ike's music and would love to have met him. He was a man thag just had a lot of demons in his life. God rest his soul.

      He’s bad at articulating himself. But what he’s saying is that blues was started by black artists, but it became popular when white artists started singing it because white people didn’t want their children listening to black artists. When white artists sang it, it became more acceptable, which is true. Little Richard sold less records of his songs like “Lucille” and “Tutti Frutti.” But when they were covered by a white artist, I forget who because they’re terrible renditions, they outsold the originals. White people were afraid back then that their kids would assimilate to black culture.

    Ike Turner doesn't get the credit he deserves as one of the founding fathers of Rock and Roll. He wrote what many music historians consider to be the first Rock and Roll song, Rocket 88. There is a reason Tina wanted to perform with him back in St. Louis and remained in partnership with him for nearly 20 years. He had the hottest band around. He gave her the platform for her talent to shine.

      @@MrsCurry023 Ike had his faults but he had good attributes too. He should've appreciated Tina but they benefited from each other. He took Tina in when she had nowhere to go. He took care of a lot of people. He relocated his entire band from St. Louis to Los Angeles. Little Richard wrote the introduction to Ike's book and said Ike gave him money to prevent his house from being foreclosed. Ike helped a lot of musicians too. He played piano on B.B. King's first No. 1 record. He also discovered many blues musicians such as Howlin Wolf and Little Junior Parker. There are musicians who have done much worse than Ike and people don't only focus on their faults like most do with Ike. He was much different later in his life. Ike had deep rooted issues from his childhood. He was also bipolar but wasn't diagnosed until later in life.

    Ike wasn't articulate but what he said is true. Blues music was revived in the 1960s when white British musicians began to play it. The Rolling Stones brought Howlin' Wolf to perform with them on TV it revived his career. After Ike and Tina toured the US with the Rolling Stones in it exposed them to a wider audience in the US and they began to cross over. Mick Jagger learned to dance from Tina while she toured the UK with him in 1966, but he got the credit and people thought she was imitating him.

Ike didn't even respond initially until the press kept seeking him out. Then the movie came out with isn't accurate. It doesn't even mention that Tina had a baby at 18 before Ike. He was trying to defend himself for years. He finally got himself together and released two acclaimed albums and won a Grammy. He has been deceased for over a decade and Tina is still profiting off of that narrative. She only tells half the story. According to Judge Joe Brown she was violent. Most people don't know that Ike and Anna Mae Bullock (Tina Turner) were good friends before they married. Ike took Tina in when she was an unwed teen mom with nowhere to go. She had a baby with a member in Ike's band. He later adopted her son. They benefited from each other to get out of St. Louis. He needed a dynamic performer and that's where he groomed Tina. He can NOT take credit for her natural talent but he gave her a platform to shine. There is a reason she stayed with him for nearly 20 years and that they're inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a duo.

      Neva Tataj Tina was a teenaged unwed mother and had nowhere to go when her mother put her out of the house. Ike didn’t like the conditions she was living in and took her in because they were very close friends. It wasn’t about looks, neither of them were even attracted to each other when they got together. Both of them came from terrible upbringings, which is what bonded them in friendship in the first place. Toxic union, but they did create beautiful music.

Many of his ex-wives, Tina's sister, musicians and singers he worked with spoke about his good nature. He had a horrific childhood. He grew up in times of segregation. Ike was absolutely disgusting towards Tina and she suffered like nobody should ever suffer, but god only knows how much unresolved childhood trauma that man had. She said once in an interview that she stayed with him because she wanted to help him and when she understood that he couldn't be helped she left. He lived a fast lifestyle and never had the chance to reflect and stop himself before it was too late. Tina told people not to be nasty about her ex husband when he died and to let him go in peace.
