    Hey knuklheds, y'all do me a favor and consider joining KBF if you haven't done so yet. You get back way more than the cost and if you can't do a paid membership, at least join as a free member so we can send you some decals and you can help us wave the flag. Thanks in advance, Chad

    After watching this video my mind is now made up. Gonna just buy a $500 used, bare bones kayak, a few rapalas/bag of worms and one (1) fishing rod - and go fish. Simplicity rules. I've now been convinced to go back to becoming a minimalist like i was 20 years ago when i started. Way more enjoyable, cheaper, and less stressful. That being said - this is not a "1 size fits all game" and everyone should do what works for them!

    Always great to see that I can always advance as my journey continues. The options seem nearly limitless. I bought a straight paddle model, and saw how limited it was, now I have pedals and it has been a gamechanger for me. Imagine what the motor will do when I arrive there. Thanks for the tour. Be Well.

    Definitely a sick rigg! I've been yak fishing going on 8 yrs now. Finally got my first electronics set up. I'll be rigging it up this weekend 10" ultra with gt56 ducer & steady cast heading sensor. Powering it with amped outdoors 32ah 14.8v lithium battery. That battery is exactly same detentions as 15ah SLA led acid, that's 10lbs. The amped outdoors battery is under 4lbs!!!

    Chad, I have to tell you about my “advanced fishing kayak” and let you know that the Bonafide P127 does great with a Motorguide Xi3 bow mounted trolling motor. I used the OneObjective mount and that is solid, not in the least iffy, solid! I found that the rubber shock mount pads work perfectly under the part of the mount where you drill the two holes in the kayak to add stability. I listened to your video where you argued against using that mount, but decided to go for it since I trusted the OneObjective guys. They proved to me that they knew what they were doing and it makes a great paring with the pedal drive when saltwater fishing. I have great range, a good super stable platform that is great for flats, creeks and marsh. Count me as a very happy P127 owner. I recently added a Micro PowerPole shallow water anchor and can’t wait to get back out on the water.

    Such an awesome setup. I got the 13x16 blackpak for my SS127. Sometimes,I wish I would have went with the 16x16. Maybe someday. At some point, I’d love to add a motor. That said, I’d love to see a comparison of the Torqeedo and the Newport Vessels motors.

    That’s a nice setup Chad. I have so many questions. I was considering making a electric outboard with a total wattage of 2000 which converts to about 2.5 horsepower and torqueedo is only rated at 1000 watt but is considered a 3hp. Would my motor still be deemed acceptable if the calculation is under 3hp. I was also curious about making a hydrofoil boat to cut down on drag with the kayak and be able to get up on plane with the bottom of the kayak only inches above the water line. Will a hydrofoil be accepted as long as within the width requirements. I know that is a lot but I have so many ideas to try on a kayak and be within by laws of the kayak tournament organization.

    Thank you for an excellent kayak rigging seminar. Your kayak is rigged better than many bass boats.
    I am a lifetime KBF member.
    I appreciate your support for motors and forward looking sonar. I enjoy my xi3 and Active Target immensely.
    Being able to fish tournaments with my motor and Active Target creates a most enjoyable fishing day whether or not I catch fish.
    Thank you.
    One question. I read somewhere that beginning 2024, metal Ketch boards are required. My local fishing buddies told me that metal Ketch boards will remain optional. Can you clarify please?
    Thank you and Happy New Year.

    Hey Chad question for ya! Ik you used to run the Wilderness Systems Atak 140 and now you run Bonafide. What platform do you think is better? Not just accessory wise but stability wise? The Atak is longer and a little wider but the SS127 looks like it’s built more stable. I’m around 305 pounds so I’m a big guy. I currently have the Atack 140 but I’m thinking about switching. Thanks for the time! Tight lines!

    • @ChadHooverFishing

    If it is required to get a kayak registered when adding an electric motor does that make the kayak an electric powerboat?
    The registration for a kayak is classified as a boat with motor.
    What’s the difference between a gas engine and a electric motor on a kayak?
    Both would be deemed a boat with propulsion?
    The rules state no electric powerboats.
    So why are the rules over bent for a trolling motor on a kayak that is deemed the same as a boat by the state?
    Why can’t kayaks have gas motors if it meets the kayak weight requirements?

  • @Larry77777

    I love how he mentions that a trolling motor and lithium battery come close to the cost of a torquedo. The 1103 he uses right now best price I can find is $2800. Can get a 200ah battery and a decent trolling motor for $1000 less or even more if you shop around.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Рік тому

      And then when you add the cost of the motor back to that it’s pretty close to the same cost.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Рік тому

      And you are also probably looking at 12V lithium and most of the motors (if not all) that are close to the Torqeedo are actually 24V systems so you either need a 24V battery or you have to buy two 12V batteries

    Unfortunately UA-cam fishing videos have become more about satisfying the sponsor vs doing videos for the audience. It’s so noticeable now. I hate that it’s come to this but I understand it as well. There’s only a few left that do it the right way. Greg and Rudd are last of a dying breed. That’s Chadd for the content. Just wish it was like it use to be. Money involved changes everything😢

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Рік тому +1

      I don’t think it could be farther for the truth for what I’m doing. I’ve turned down money to go in the other direction. That’s why I’m doing multiple brands snd sharing my thoughts and expertise on it all, that’s why I don’t have exclusive deals on pretty much anything anymore. Thanks for sharing your opinion, but it you look at my content you will see that it’s for much more than the money. If I was in it for the money, I wouldn’t be on UA-cam. I could make a hell of a lot more money elsewhere for a lot less work.
