Hi pal, got first trackday ever... on Tuesday at Cadwell 😳 can’t to be honest and got told to take a look on here before I go and your video has made me feel much better about it all. Great to see how you improve over the day and cracking lines just hope I’m half as good as you did 😊👍🏻 Thanks again 😊
I thought you did very well sir, Coppice is the left hander everyone was slowing for and is a great bend that you can run in there pretty hot without worry as the gradient as you go up the hill slows the bike a bit anyway plus it's not that tight.. Good to be safe and go gradually faster though.. I think you had the measure to go quite a bit faster with some more bike time, it's the only way to build confidence.. Gotta love those V4's.. and the wonderful circuit that is Cadwell
The left-hander with early breaking - what scares most is not the lefthander it self but the following righthander-over -a-crest followed but yet another righthander. The lefthander should be done tight to the left edge so you are in line to the first right - on the left side/half of the track, over the crest - so you have a fair line into the second right. You need to have your suspension setup right to be able to handel the righthand crest and still have balance for the second right - takes a few tries to get it right ;-)
Mad dog. An excellent vid, nice one. I was watching that vid and was thinking that you were the camera bike. I thought “this guy is alright, he doesn’t need to worry, he’s a much smoother rider than the bloke he’s following”. Then I thought “oh perhaps he is that bloke in front, and does need a bit of schooling”. Then I realised you were the camera bike after all. Nothing wrong with your riding mad dog. Keep it up.
The most important thing is you had a good time, cadwell is a great track. Once you learn the track and build your confidence and the speed will come. You will get hooked on the buzz so remember there is alway another track day to book. Cheers Chris
Was a good day hey mate!! You were riding really well... First track day maybe, but clearly know your bike!! I was in your group on a white supermoto... We'll definitely be going back!!
wow some really good driving! very well done for first time out on trak!! i want to do a bike trak day next soon. so watching a few videos to see what to expect, by the way how did you mount the camera, i wouldnt mind uploading a video when i do on my channel too!
Great vid buddy! You've made me bite the bullet and book my first track day on 16th June. Cant wait! I will be holding you responsible if i bin it though lol
Don't wait for Geoff next time. You had way better flow than he did. You want to keep that rhythm going. To avoid getting stuck behind people get them going into the turn preferably on the inside . The very reason you are questioning why is everyone braking so early, you have the skills to do it especially at that corner. That was a great first track day. Big improvements every session!
I’m doing my first ever track day “cadwell” in 2 weeks & I’m totally bricking it became im not doing it on my bike, I’m doing it on my mates gsxr 750 track bike. So I’ve never done a track, never ridden this bike & like you I ride like Roy cropper on a good day. Ye can’t wait😳😥 I tell you what thought you weren’t doing bad at all & was a lot faster on the last session by quite a bit.👍🏍
Eric Bennett My main concern is getting in the way of others because of “A” I’m out of position & “B” I’m all over the track.🤭 Maybe I’m just over thinking it🤷🏻♂️
There are 3 reasons to do track days, having fun, having fun & having fun, you don,t need a fancy track bike just a trusty stead. As long as you have fun and don,t throw it down the road you will soon be tramping around as fast as most. Just remember take you time, build up slowly and don,t make the same mistake as the person you are following. It was a great day from one road biker to another, do more. Andy
I really enjoyed that. I've booked myself and my ageing bike at Cadwell for a novice trackday at the end of March. I started off with "what have I done"? After being inspired by your vid, I'm now at "Can't wait". P.S. You were way smoother than your mate.....
Yeah, Geoff looked very "rusty" being a ""very experienced" "tracker". Serveral of the other guys looked very unexperienced, especially the guy with the dobb. tail light in the last session. And even on a VFR400R - should be able to kick-ass, in the corners, on many faster/more powerfull bikes. But if you don't know how to setup the suspension on that bike, any bike for that matter, any corner would be scary ;-D I woulden't like to be anywhere near him - anywhere, track and especially not open road ! And trust that beloved VFR - I love my own as well ('90 with '92 fork and RC46 rear damper).
Well done on your first track day. Cadwell is a lovely circuit, too. I'd suggest that you grab some instruction from an experienced instructor as it would enhance the experience and your understanding of the circuit.
god, I miss track days - I'm 64 now & fucking useless - I did about 70-80 track days at cadwell = awesome - one of the best tracks ever for learning & overtaking - go try Lydden in Kent if you like cadwell - its also amazing ! Mallory is pretty good as well
Mate I'm only a novice aswell first one is the hardest you know what's coming now a d you can consentrate on the track and building your confidence and speed no rush buddy your doing good by the looks of it to me
Hi MadDogMcQ, I'm work for GFC Films we're interested in using your footage in one of our upcoming documentaries. Feel free to email me tom@gfcfilms.com Cheers

Hi Lee, glad the video helped. Only just seen this comment - how did your sessions go??

Brilliant video to inspire confidence using a classic bike, great riding 👍😎🏆

The new bridge is a good addition to the circuit, and well done mate if you have never done track days before.

Thanks very much Chris. Maybe I'm not as shit as I thought, lol. Maybe I'm more Ken Barlow than Roy Cropper 😂😂😂
