@@mokpot That's true and there will never be a shortage of that. I went diving last weekend. Lake Superior was 31 degrees. You could say its a bit chilly.

Dan, sorry for the delay in answering, i somehow missed your comment.it is almost impossible to say “how long” After initial training you would need to gain experience just diving. Entering water with swift currents and low visibility requires experience, absolute comfort and familiarity with your equipment. Familiarity and comfort depends not on days and months, but on Time in the Water and your personal comfort level. I know people who have dived for 20 years who will never dive like I do because they are not comfortable in low vis and/or current You would need to begin the journey of Scuba and just work towards it. How is it to swim in the Sacramento River? I’ve thought about swimming in it but wasn’t sure if it was legal, safe, clean. I swim in the American all the time
Hello Joe, Good questions… I can’t imagine swimming in the river is illegal, my go to is, do it until someone says stop, then question their authority to stop you. I am not anti authoritarian, but I have had people assume authority and tell me I can’t just because they think I shouldn’t. Liberty is hard to keep and even hard to get back once it is taken. It is easy enough to do a web search, but I will always assume I have liberty to swim, unless it is posted. The Sacramento has a lot of boat traffic, and BIG boats too, it is muddy and can be dangerous do to snags, High flowing currents affected by tides, even in the Sacramento area. In general I would not recommend swimming in the Sacramento River.
