    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 роки тому +2

      31 Degrees... I suppose it was moving... or else it would be frozen? Something I would love to see while diving is Ice forming in the water in front of me. I heard a diver describe it some years ago and it has been on my mind since Good to chat with you Don

    • @DonFassbender

      @@mokpot Either that or my computer lies. Just wants to get the H out of the water. LOL. I've been chased out of the lake when the wind shifts and surface ice gets pushed in. By the time I got to shore there was a 3' ice bank and it was climbing. The shore was flat when we started. Ice is a force not to mess with.

    I've been metal detecting for 20 years, and magnet fishing for 2 years. I love what you do, and was wondering how long it would take for a person to do what you do, starting from scratch....learning how to scuba dive, buying the equipment, etc? I am retired and love the water and would love to dive, searching for treasures......

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 роки тому +1

      Dan, sorry for the delay in answering, i somehow missed your comment.it is almost impossible to say “how long” After initial training you would need to gain experience just diving. Entering water with swift currents and low visibility requires experience, absolute comfort and familiarity with your equipment. Familiarity and comfort depends not on days and months, but on Time in the Water and your personal comfort level. I know people who have dived for 20 years who will never dive like I do because they are not comfortable in low vis and/or current You would need to begin the journey of Scuba and just work towards it. Diving as much as possible, continue training, I recommend Technical training. If you are unfamiliar with it, do a web search for Technical Diving. Take care!

    How is it to swim in the Sacramento River? I’ve thought about swimming in it but wasn’t sure if it was legal, safe, clean. I swim in the American all the time

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  Рік тому +2

      Hello Joe, Good questions… I can’t imagine swimming in the river is illegal, my go to is, do it until someone says stop, then question their authority to stop you. I am not anti authoritarian, but I have had people assume authority and tell me I can’t just because they think I shouldn’t. Liberty is hard to keep and even hard to get back once it is taken. It is easy enough to do a web search, but I will always assume I have liberty to swim, unless it is posted. The Sacramento has a lot of boat traffic, and BIG boats too, it is muddy and can be dangerous do to snags, High flowing currents affected by tides, even in the Sacramento area. In general I would not recommend swimming in the Sacramento River.

      Hi BCK I appreciate you tuning in. I have done several dive in Lake Berryessa several years ago. I have a cheap Idea for you. You've seen those Large Net Bags that the grocery store gets their onions in. Maybe you could get a couple of those to have in your pocket in case you come across large items. ( Just a thought ). :)

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Jane, I have an assortment of different sized mesh bags to recover the trash/treasure, so no onion bag if required. The limitation for removing stuff is not the size of my bags but my ability to swim with, and/or surface carrying a full, large bag, and then carrying it and 130 pounds of dive gear from the water to a trash can 1/4 mile or more away. Good idea though!
