Kyle chandler is a pretty good casting for an older Hal jordan im just happy theres a green lantern show coming out with both jon stewart and Hal jordan.
If they want John Stewart as their main Lantern, killing Hal does not open up any compelling source comic material. Having Hal go Parallax would on the other hand would open the plot possibilities of one of DCs best Thanos-level villains.
not necessarily - kill hal focus on the other lanterns for a few movies and then when they do some type of reboot to shuffle cast and manage actors & the cinematic universe whatever .. introduce a hal from another universe thus allowing a younger hal and an actor to play that character for that generation and storyline or era thats how i would go about it 🤷🏾♂️
Hal doesn't have to die. he could follow Sinestro into the anti-matter universe battling him in the process, thus becoming trapped there and everyone believing him dead
@@mjg1544 Ryan Reynolds mocked his own movie in the worst way. He should have recognized that there were actors doing their best to put in good work, especially Mark Strong.
Green lantern lore the best in DC comics...happy they making it a series... they can truly build something special here... so much material to work with...
I agree some great stories like blackest night and brightest Day but they're already screwing up doing an older Hal Jordan in this comic nerds humble opinion
Kyle Chandler is a great decision. Perhaps the movie will be a changing of the guard on earth and Chandler's Lantern will go off someplace else. That would leave the door open for him to come back in the future
Thanks Charlie for posting this, but yeah this is definitely a Green Lantern i can get behind, the only issue is that the hollywood reporter did say his contract isn't pass the lanterns show so i am a bit sad but on the other hand Kyle Chandler is a much better actor than Josh Brolin
I would have rather had Brolin, but I believe Kyle can do the job, with no movie appearances in his contract, I have to agree, I don’t see him making it out alive! Thank you Charlie!
I wish people would wake up and realize that the logo everyone is calling "LordTech" is actually a JL - as in Justice League. It's obvious that Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl are members of Max Lord's Justice League and it's possible that he has the copyright on the name "Justice League" which will be a wrinkle when a Justice League movie happens down the road. Those uniforms are issued by LordTech and meant to be lame. I have no doubt that by the end of the movie Guy and Hawkgirl will be in their original costumes.
"Zero Dark Thirty" (2012), as Kyle was the station chief, Joseph Bradley. The classic scene with him was when Maya, played by Jessica Chastain, gets up in his face referencing some of the management issues Kyle was responsible for not supporting with respects to her requirements, as this to me was the tipping point of that movie when Maya finally made a stand to catch her brake. Maya: He's the key to bin Laden. Joseph: I don't f$$king care about bin Laden. I care about the next attack. You're gonna start working on the American al-Qaeda cells. Protect the homeland. Maya: Bin Laden is the one who keeps telling them to attack the homeland. If it wasn't for him, al-Qaeda would still be focused on overseas targets. If you really want to protect the homeland, you need to get bin Laden. Joseph: This guy never met bin Laden. This guy's a freelancer working on the f$$king Internet. Nobody's even talk to bin Laden in four years. He's out of the game. He may well even be dead. He might as well be f$$king dead, but you know what you're doing. You're chasing a ghost while the whole f$$king network grows all around you. Maya: You just want me to nail some low-level Mullah-crack-a-dulla so you can check the box on your resume that says while you were in Pakistan you got a real terrorist. BUT THE TRUTH IS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND PAKISTAN & YOU DON'T KNOW AL-QAEDA! Either give me the team I NEED to follow this lead or the other thing you're gonna have on your resume is being the first station chief to be called before a Congressional Committee FOR SUBVERTING THE EFFORTS TO CAPTURE OR KILL Bin Laden. Joseph: You're f$$king out of your mind. Maya: I need 4 techs and safe house in Rawalpindi and 4 techs and safe house in Peshawar. Either send them out, or send me back to D.C and explain to the director why you didn't.
John Stewart being the main Green Lantern does make sense especially for Superman being around his early 30s and John being around late 20s to early 30s so I think it would make sense for this series but I hope Hall doesn’t get killed off at least goes into retirement but comes back during a massive crossover event with other heroes and villains so I can’t wait for John and Hal in 2026 plus I hope the team is like JLU animated series with Wally West as The Flash, Supes, Bats, Diana, Hawkgirl, John, and Martian Manhunter but I’m so hyped for more DCU updates. This finna get Fkin Diabolical!
Love Kyle Chandler, had caught him in some reruns back in the late 80s series Tour of Duty, (Kevin Conroy and Carl Weathers also in that show). He's gonna be a great Hal Jordan! Always thought he'd make a perfect Jack Tenrec in a live action Cadillacs & Dinosaurs too.
wudjalookitdat 🤯, I remember a whole bunch of us Geeks were fancasting Kyle Chandler for Hal Jordan as far back as Early Edition (where he first gained fame for in the TV sphere), speed run several decades later (and a whole lot of DC filmography in between) and we finally got our Kyle as Hal. I do hope they won't kill him off right away, I'd rather that we have Hal Jordan fulfill the role of a Lantern Elder Statesman orrrrr maybe somehow work in part of the Parallax storyline even with Sinestro already with the Yellow Lanterns and Jon Stewart repping the Green Lanterns.
Just sitting here remember when you had under 1 million followers and would always end with the wave and "see you guys tonight." Glad your channel blew up Charlie.

@emergencyawesome thankfully we never have to go too far to hear Rosey on Talkville or Inside of You. Thanks for the many years of consistent content Charlie
Great choice. He's a solid actor indeed, and I can totally see his Hal Jordan getting killed and maybe coming back as a version of Parallax? You failed to mention Early Edition as one of the earliest TV series Kyle worked on, which I absolutely loved. :)
Kyle Chandler looks like an older Kyle Rayner to me. I wish they would stick with younger people, like 2 young hotshot lanterns similar to the GL animated series when Hal Jordan teamed up with Guy Gardner against the manhunters.
Based on everything you said in this video sounds to me like the shows and films are going to be more interconnected like how certain famous comicbook stories often reference other issues as part of a larger connected world but also sounds like each new DCU property will be its own genres like Fantasy or Supernatural based what characters each one is adapting. Sounds like Gunn is using the idea of comicbooks as more a tool to have the same feel for readers as the audience at large who will see some of these new ideas and if all goes well it will feel more like the Rebirth era of the comics than anything that came before
I have an opinion that the first gods and monsters chapter will be against the center that was in justice league frontiers. I believe the lanterns series will be based against a satanic entity in space trying to rule the world and controlling people. True detective was basically based off people serving a higher satanic entity etc and the center would be a good start to everything linking characters like Superman and swamp thing etc. Or it could be a green lantern villain, but i believe its the center as the main villain of dcu phase one.
I mean, it's clear Gunn has a pretty wide ranging "substrate" of a plan to build the DCEU upon. That said, if I have to make a big deal about Kyle Chandler not having a known contract for a DC _movie_ gig, that just tells me he's turning Parallax on us. And because I like the esoteric side of DC (I've long dreamed of a JSA movie with the atmosphere of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), that makes me excited and hopeful that it also means we're eventually getting Spectre.
Personally, I would have preferred a prime years Hal, but this is probably the only way to make the most out of legacy characters for the DCU. So, we might get Kyle, Simon and Jessica in the process. With Damian’s inclusion, we’ll likely see the wider Bat-family with Dick, Babs, Jason, and Tim. I also assume Barry Allen will be phased out for Wally West. It also sort of makes sense why we’re seeing Supergirl as well. They’re trying to have a ton of Legacy characters to play around with for future films. Film makers can then pick and choose whoever they want for a story, as opposed to doing a Superman film with only Superman centric characters. Or a Green Lantern show with only Green Lantern centric characters. The character appearance can potentially be more open ended.
As a huge Green Lantern fan, I love Kyle chandler, ever since he was in early edition oh so many years ago, but I would have pegged him s being more of Kyle Raynor than Hal Jordan.
I don't hate this choice. It's possible that he only has a contract for the show only because he isn't supposed to appear in any of the announced movies in chapter 1. When they are ready to put him in a movie they can renegotiate
I do not think they should kill Hal Jordan. Regardless, if Kyle Chandler is not playing the main green lantern in the DCU. Because Hal becomes a Blue Lantern. So, to me, I would do the prophecy that the leader of the Red Lantern Corps set up to Sinestro to become a part of the Yellow Lanterns. I would do some of Blackiest Night from the comics. You have Hal trying to find Goddfried after he got thrown out of the green lanterns and then he gets imprisoned by either the Star Sapphires or the Orange Lanterns. Then, you have John try to find Hal in the cosmos to probably help him out. As they go on this adventure he finds out that Hal is the true power source of the Yellow ring and they need to redeem Sinestro. Next, have Hal power the yellow ring by Phalanx. Then have Sinestro stunned and have John try to talk sense to him. They try to stop or have Hal come to his senses and they find out that Sinestro needs to be the one to sacrifice himself to save Hal. He does and becomes a white lantern. However John does something that is illegal that Oha does not know until after to set up the Trial of John Stewart from Justice League Unlimited. Hal is saved but tells John he has to follow his destiny and becomes a Blue Lantern by Saint Walker. Something like that could be cool but this is DC and if they do kill off Hal that is a major waste of character development…..
Ewen McGregor is phenomenal and i honestly believe he could be great in any role. Ive never seen him put out a performance that was less than fantastic.
Chris Pine still looks young enough to pull it off but I’m happy Josh dropped out, I don’t think he would’ve been bad but just not feeling him as Hal Jordan. Kyle is great so hopefully he can do the character justice!
For Flash: do it like the MCU did Antman. Go with the second iteration and make the first one the older, grizzled mentor. Shit throw in an octogenarian Jay Garrick cameo
