      @@rickrideoutis that pace car something u have to program in ?

    • @rickrideout
      @rickrideout  6 місяців тому

      @diytypeofguy6502 You have to set it up like a ghost car, you press the code button three times for the pace car that you're going to use and then set the speed. So it only goes the same speed you set all the way around the track.

    I must be so out of touch with slot car racing, now there is lap counting software? I just looked it up.. Nice, I can't wait to get back at this again.

    Alot of laps under caution. Pat pitted under caution and he should have gained a lap atleast over those who pitted under green. one more thought is every car that comes off the track should trigger a caution. Awesone set up and Thank You for sharing..Cheers

      The number of cautions is partly due to the Exchange Championship. We're driving cars that we're not used to, and we switch to a different car ever race with little practice time to get use to the car. Pitting under yellow is a issue because you can't set Smartrace to not deduct fuel during a caution lap. ( I even checked with Marc of SmartRace and he said it wasn't possible.) So if your about to run out of fuel during a caution then you are forced to pit. So we'll try some new ideas next time we get together. Maybe a one lap penalty for pitting during a caution. Or, the pits are open during a caution but a one lap penalty for who ever caused the caution. Cautions cannot be automatically triggered, someone has to hit a caution button to stop the race. Our group has an agreement that if you can reach your own car don't hit the caution to put it back on. But if someone else (Driver) has to put it back on for you, then you have to hit the caution button. The main thing about this is, Having Smartrace, Pits and a pace car is adding so much more value to the racing experience. We may never get it figured out or have a perfect race, but it give us something else to try the next time we get together. Thanks. :-)

    Just a question. Where did you find a table that big? I cant even find plywood that is 16’ 4” by 7’ 2”

      I built the table from 4 sheets of 3/4" X 4.07' X 8.07' particle board. I cut the 8.07' down to 7'-2". (to fit the room) Used the full 4.07 (X 4) to get the 16'-4". (which is actually .060 short of being a full 16'-4") I got the particle board from Lowes. Here's the link to it, note the actual size. www.lowes.com/pd/Industrial-Particle-Board-Actual-0-742-in-x-4-07-ft-x-8-07-ft/1000154041

    I'm looking for information about a slot car track I saw at the New York auto show back in the late 60's or early 70's. The cars were 1/25 scale. In stead of a slot, the track opened in the center to expose several wires. A shoe with wires was inserted and the track closed over it. The wires were attached to the car and controlled speed direction and steering. The cars could go anywhere on the track, in any lane even do 180 degree turns and reverse. If anyone knows about this set, please comment

    Nice track fella's, i'm just starting to build a track & don't know how high i should make it off the ground, what height is your track ?

    • @rickrideout
      @rickrideout  4 місяці тому

      The table top is 34 inches tall. I have things stored under the layout so I went a bit higher because of that. I think most tracks are lower so it's easier to see the cars going around. But I'm happy with mine at this height.

      @@rickrideoutThanks for that info mate, i started my frame @ 1mtr & thought it looked too high, i've taken it down to 900mm about 35.5 inch & it looks pretty good. I'm also making some storage bays under my track, killing 2 Birds with 1 stone :)
