Good evening. Been watching Spirit of the outdoors channel live tonight he is in Mississippi also. My 88 yj is basically a cj . It had the biggest mess for seat frames . One was hodge podge of wood and screws and bolts . I had to find correct used brackets and order smitty built seats .

Very nice work on the new seat! My '73 CJ-5 had a bench seat that was a 60/40 split so I could still access the tool box below the seat. I don't know if it was common in early Jeeps to have the bench, but I always enjoyed it. There were times I wish I had a center console, but for the most part, I enjoyed the extra room. I wanted to give you praise for reusing the old brackets. So many people just throw away perfectly good parts that can easily be reused. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Most people focus on the 3rd word and forget the other two. I think reusing the old bracket was genius. Saved you both time and money. I'm sure you'll definitely feel a difference having new seats in there!

I agree 100%! Most of my early years of wheeling Jeeps was funded on a school teacher salary! Guy wanted to have fun, but had to make it happen by scouring junkyards and pulling stuff out of the scrap pile. I could probably afford a much better Jeep now, but I refuse to leave my roots! Besides, I appreciate the rig more knowing what it took to make it happen. 😉
I bet that 60/40 split was pretty cool! I’ve never seen one in person. Thanks for the comments.

I've got a '64 and it's like you said, in-between two eras of jeeps and very hard to get aftermarket stuff for. Bikini tops are non existent from what I've found and seats are available but tricky to filter through and find! Your video was helpful, I appreciate it

If you want some good weather proof seat covers. Cabela's has some in camo and tan and gray that fit well and are only 20 bucks each .

Thanks, I’ll look into those. I want to keep those seats nice as long as possible. With a dog even more damage happens quicker. Thanks for the lead!
