- I replaced the alternator because it was draining the battery with all the systems off because the diodes in the alternator were bad.
Hey, Justin. Thanks for the video. Just curious, did you replace the bad alternator with an OEM one, remanned one, or a random one?
I don't think I got the OEM, but I remember not settling for the cheapest one. My wife is the kind that just expects things to work every time, so I gave up cheap patch job long ago.
I’m having the same issue but auto zone says my alternator is good and I just bought a brand new battery I jump my truck then next day my Tahoe is dead
I didn't take mine to get tested because sometimes the test machines are not accurate, or the store employees are not knowledgeable. With an inexpensive meter and a little time, you will know where the current draw is on your vehicle.
Can I try and unplug alternator power supply for 2 days and plug it back in when I start it?
Yeah, if you don't have a multimeter to use to measure the milliamp draw and have the time, you can disconnect one wire at a time to find which thing is drawing enough current to run the battery down that fast. It's the same process that you would use with a multimeter, just slower.
Thanks Bro!! I bought a cheap Amazon alternator last year and had to keep jump starting my Tahoe if I left it for 2 days. I disconnected the power wire to alternator over the weekend and after 2 days it started!! I then bought a Remy alternator and installed it last Friday and tonight, after basically 3 1/2 days it started!!!!! Thanks bro for the video!!!!
Buy new if you can afford
