I feel the whole Candy crush on Dipper idea would have worked better in the middle of Season 1 rather than 5 episodes from the end of Season 2, especially since in the 1st half of Season 2 it seemed that Dipper & Pacifica were forming a bond & here could have been a good time to expand upon it before the finale.

My comment probably won’t get recognized but consider watching “Star vs The Forces Of Evil” it’s fantastic and the animation during fights are incredible! Please consider my request!
I've often heard this described as the worst episode of Gravity Falls ever, and I think that's solely due to its placement this late in the season. If it had come out right after "Into the Bunker" like it was supposed to, I think it would've been much better received, and not messed with the flow of the show's overall narrative. Because by itself, it's actually pretty decent, save for the Dipper and Candy pairing, which comes right out of nowhere and is never brought up again.
Agreed. At any event, it needed to air prior to the Last Mabelcorn, as we're following immediately after Bill's declaration of "I'll have find someone on the outside [of the barrier]."
@@IamMeHere2See Fun fact: The episode Roadside Attraction was supposed to take place before Ford came out of the portal and Northwest Mansion. Therefore, this explains why the pines family went on a road trip, instead of stayed inside the shack to protect their minds from Bill.
This episode was actually supposed to air before Ford arrived back through the portal. It’s why there’s no reference to Ford in the episode it’s also why ford let them deface his property. As he wasn’t there. Alex Hirsch believed that the show needed a slow down before it accelerates to Mark 10. In the final episodes. So that’s why the episode is where it is
I don't think he fully got it because he said when they were naming the charecter they didn't know so they put *to be determined* and it became Toby determined but it's a joke on him being a reporter or atleast that's how I understood it but that could be wrong
My biggest problem with this episode is how it comes immediately after the episode which literally ends with the line “As long as we stay in the shack, we’re safe from bill!” Ok great TIME FOR A ROADTRIP!!!
Fun fact, in this episode Stan says he was married. In the DVD we got more about this mysterious woman. Her name is Marilyn, Stan says that she was the one that got away. Literally she was chased by the cops cars for a mile out of Vegas. Stan thinks her name was fake, and also her hair. She's described as pale bingo hall skin ane a weirdly sharp tooth. If you recall in the Owl house, Marilyn was the name Eda used to move around the human realm
Yeah, this is considered one of the weakest/worst episode of Gravity Falls by many mostly because how out of place it is. Narratively because Ford is completely absent and Dipper should at this point not obsess over Wendy the way he did in the beginning. Literally because this episode was delayed and was meant to be aired way earlier. Thankfully this episode is not bad, just not as good, which speaks to the quality of the show and the rest of the episodes are banger after banger
@@YungandRekless545I think he’s referring to how they just protected the shack from Bill, and then this episode has them immediately leave that protection to go do wacky shenanigans

Despite the bad advice Stan gave dipper, in Dipper’s defense he really didn’t do anything that wrong. They’re 12 and he wasn’t doing anything really bad other than talking to girls. He wasn’t making out with them or promising them anything except maybe to call or email. At their age most of this stuff is innocent and harmless.
While I didn’t think this episode nor “Dipper vs. Manliness” had perfect groundbreaking messages, they did have decent ones that kids could understand. So for that I appreciate them. Plus the spider design was sick.

This episode has 2 good things going for it the enemies Stan made came back to bite him and something i just notice. Stan is Dipper's role model in masculinity. With examples of Stan punching the dinos in S1E18 Also with the dream episode Stan admits he totures Dipper to toughen him up. And the street fighter episode with stan asking Dip fight like a man or hide like a wimp and Dip took in head on leading up to him fighting Gideon's robot in the season 1 finale.
This episode ranks the lowest in the entire series for a number of reasons; the weakest jokes, the very awkward attempt at romance between Dipper and Candy, the odd placement of the episode in the series (it feels like it should have taken place either before Ford returned through the portal or an episode or two after it). My biggest gripe with it, though, is how it treats Dipper like a villain that deserves the worst punishment for doing what barely counted as harmless flirting with girls his age. The kid just wanted to break out of the social rut he'd been in for a while and try some new approaches to connect with others and he used Stan's advice rather well without any malice or intent to harm. The girls were unnecessarily cruel towards him when the plot forced them to all meet in the same place. And Mabel and her friends were awful hypocrites, and not just for yelling and insulting Dipper over something they have been doing all summer (specifically Mabel). They blamed him over a situation they had caused by basically coercing Dipper into dating Candy without even asking him or considering whether or not he would be comfortable with it. I'm not a rabid Mabel hater, but her playing matchmaker without considering other's consent is a huge flaw the show seems to casually brush aside. I have my own thoughts on how this episode could have been saved, but I've already been rambling on long enough. Thankfully, the next episode is a great rebound back to the standard level of quality for the series.

He flirted but he did not ask them out. There was no guarantee that any of them would end up dating so for all of them to become so mad at him is actually ridiculous. They had one interaction each, how does that constitute being so mad and calling him a jerk, huffing and puffing then storming off? You can try to say 'ooh but they're teenagers' but seriously when has anyone ever had one interaction with someone, given their email and the assumed they would date to be mad enough that they spoke to more than one girl besides them

I always find funny how people treat this episode. Is the worst one? Without a doubt. But is still a pretty decent episode. Like it has good moments like Stan and Dipper's relationship. I think if this chapter was in any other show, it wouldn't be as hated. But weirdly being in Gravity falls hurts this episode

I didn't like this episode and judging from the comments, it seems there were other viewers who didn't either. Never really interacted with the Gravity Falls fandom anywhere before until I read the comment section of your react videos here lol. It seems though the reason people hate it is cause it felt like filler when more interesting things have been building up in episodes beforehand. Personally, my reason for disliking this is that while it seems like there's some kind of message about how Dipper flirting with a bunch of girls is bad, it ignores the fact that Mabel had been flirting with almost every unrelated boy the entire series and it's not seen as bad of a thing as they made Dipper's more successful attempts. I mean, Mabel successfully got close to the merman near the end of S1 but still tried to flirt with the puppeteer in S2. Mabel and the merman's potential relationship officially ended in the Society of the Blind Eye episode where the merman tells her in a letter that he's getting in an arranged marriage and this didn't seem weird that she tried to flirt with two guys at once?
I've heard the argument that this episode misses the mark because its message is weird, with people arguing that Dipper did nothing wrong because he only lightly flirted and didn't actually cheat on anyone, but I disagree. I don't think this episode was against Dipper flirting, it was against Dipper taking girls' numbers and leaving them with the impression that he'll contact them, when he knows full well he won't. The girls that actually liked him felt like they were just practice for him that way, which is definitely a bad thing to make someone feel. Dipper messed up here and it's fine to admit it.
People claim this was meant to take place earlier in the season, but I haven't seen any actual evidence for that. Especially since nobody can seem to agree at what point earlier in the season it supposedly takes place. Don't forget, there was already a moment in The Last Mabelcorn pointedly showing that Dipper still wasn't totally over Wendy that late into the story.
in fact, the community mostly agrees that this episode should take place after "into the banner" Because this episode ignores Ford, Bill and even the episode you mentioned. I definitely don't think it's a bad episode, but it could be a lot better.
In what way? It's not argumentative, I kinda agree. Idk why Dipper was so wrong (when he may have fully intended on e-mailing some of those people) when he doesn't owe any more interaction while we get this weird creepy Dipper/Candy forced ship that brings me back to the 8th grade in a bad way to where Candy lumps herself in with the others getting "played" by Dipper. He's a kid making potential friends. The idea you're only allowed to talk to one other person is crazy. I don't disagree with the message they were trying to get at, but the analogy to the story could've been handled better. A dance is held in the town, for example. But as it looks, Dipper is getting cooked while he also has to apologize to Candy because he had the gull to talk to other people and not have e-mailed them from the computer he doesn't have on the road. Never mind the questionable forced implied consent out of peer pressure. Then there is the story placement after the last episode not making any sense. And yeah, there's Mabel always pushing when she would not appreciate the same, but at least that dynamic is consistent. I wouldn't say I "hate" anyone, but kinda wish this was a Stan and Dipper trip. At least the message would've not felt so undercut by Mabel and Candy and how what any of them were doing wasn't at least baseline weird. Grenda is just Grenda.
"Roadside Attraction": Grunkle Stan becomes a road warrior, taking down rival roadside attractions. Dipper gets horrible relationship advice. Candy's study of pamphlets and brochures pays off. Stan falls for a "voluptuous woman" and is nearly turned into a mummy. Jesus is "lost in the Corn," and the Mystery Shack is remodeled by Stan's rivals.
