    #1 has to be Chael's one-round losing streak against Anderson when he tapped, signifying the end of the round. But he still won the fight as he was up 4 rounds to 1, thus continuing his unbeaten record. Very significant since he never lost a round before or after that in his entire career!

      I love me some uncle chael. Used to think the undefeated thing was funny but the horse is dead and its still getting beat. And his videos are hit or miss. Sometimes they are really good and I value his opinion. Other times im convinced he chooses the opposite of the popular stance on something just to rattle the cage. Its like 50 50 for me

But because they only fight once a year, a downfall might be surprising and more heartbreaking.

    Am i the only one that never understood why pettis was on the cover of the wheaties box?

    • @madgavin7568
      @madgavin7568 2 роки тому +2

      You kind of had to be a fan around that period of time to understand. Anthony Pettis really looked like the next big star in the UFC, as he had everything going for him; he was flashy, charismatic, likeable and very exciting to watch. On top of that, he was a UFC champion having just taken out the best 155 fighters in the world at the time (Henderson and Melendez) without too much issue. To the casual fans, it looked as though he would not lose his belt and become a serious PPV draw. To the hardcore fans, he was going to be a tough man to beat for anyone until Khabib Nurmagomedov rose up the rankings by which time it was assumed Pettis would break the title defence record for 155. RDA however as we all know had something to say about that...
      Putting all that aside, famous athletes had formerly been on the cover of the Wheaties box prior. Pettis had a ton of hype behind him and a decision was made for him to be on the cover, especially given how an MMA athlete had never been on it previously. It was all advertising and promotion anyway.

    • @markzuckergecko621
      @markzuckergecko621 2 роки тому +1

      I think it was kind of a gateway to rope in new fans, when people think "martial arts" they think eastern arts, all the flashy kicks and spinning shit from the Kung Fu movies, and Pettis was the closest thing to actually doing that with success. If you just showed an outsider a basic grappling match they would probably think it's boring, but if they start watching Pettis first, it might open the door for them to get into more of it. At least that was the thought at the time, they were really sticking their neck out and thinking he would be the next big thing.

    I still call Fedor the best heavyweight of all time in 2022. his skid was due to ageing and continuing to compete passed his prime. In his prime he still KO's Cain & Stipe. I think Stipe beats Fedor just because of strength of opposition. But it's close, Fedor is the clear #2 to me, and I can understand the argument for him being #1 and Stipe #2. Anyone else as 1 or 2 is just delusional though, the "he fought cans" argument against Fedor is a little bunk to me, he did fight a lot of cans, but he also fought real competitors and won. the most surprising losing streak for me
    is Carlos Condit’s 5 fight losing streak
    dude went from having a war with Robbie Lawer
    Carlos v Robbie >>>> Robbie v Rory 2 🤷🏽‍♂️
    anywho, went from losing a razor close SD
    against probably the scariest version of Robbie Lawler, to losing to guys like Neil Magny and “Cowboy” Oliveira, Maia and Micheal “The Maverick” not too surprising considering Carlos has always struggled with grapplers and very straight strikers that start quick , but still surprising considering he just went to war with one of the greatest champions and made it very competitive, to losing to journeymen.
