Because they would have done a super fight with Jones. So, while they waited for Jones to get off roids and come back to 205, Jan, Jiri, Glover, Rakic, Dom and Thiago would have been left in the dust, with no option but to fight each other and make the division run out of contenders (because we still didn't have Hill and Ankalaev, Krylov and Craig not worthy, Johnny Walker still in the mix and at least two of them would have lost two, leaving them out of the title scene), so yes. If you want Anderson Silva to give an exciting performance to your new investors from Abu Dhabi, why would you put him against Demian Maia? Put him against a STRIKER. UFC management has always shown limited knowledge about the sport if you ask me. The reason Silva used his taunting tactics was to try to get opponents to go after him and overextend themselves allowing him, as the elite counter striker to that point in mma history, to take them apart.

    Everyone knows Chael has never tapped. However MMA companies will often CGI matches to make it appear as though Chael lost so other fighters will agree to fight him. If they knew the truth - that everyman Chael has ever faced died from the pressure of him being in their guard. Hed never get another match. He didn't even have to throw a punch. Just the pressure of him inside your guard is lethal to 99% of human beings and 80% of animals which is why he can never have children.
    Dumb marks will argue "but I've seen fighters after their fight with Chael and they were fine."

But he managed to evolve his wrestling game to new heights and dominated on the ground. If he manages to beat jones in his next title defense it would be goat level status as heavyweight. Took the title from stipe and defended against ciryl followed by Jon jones that’s crazy asf

    if there's a fight in history where i'd say the loser wins 9 out of 10 times, it'd be Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor. The Conor mania was massive, it was taking the entire sport by storm. Even Conor said that he'd already won at the presser, and rightfully so, no one was doing it like Conor was.

    • @nightfallshort9232
      @nightfallshort9232 2 роки тому +2

      That's a fair argument, as I'd say Aldo was a more well-rounded fighter while Conor was more of a striking specialist (of course Conor has good takedown Defense but other than that his grappling is not all that great). But if you watch the fight, you see Aldo rush at Conor with an lead overhand, which is something he has used before against taller, longer fighters, such as Kenny Florian. But Conor McGregor most likely watched that fight and came prepared to counter with a left hook (which he did). And if you look at their best weapons, Aldo's best weapon is probably his strong leg kicks, while McGregor's is his left hand (which he used to knock out Aldo). We saw Dustin Poirier's leg kicks in their 2nd fight really had an effect on Conor McGregor, because he was using a boxing stance, where his weight was stagnant and was mostly on his lead leg. But in the Aldo fight, McGregor had a karate stance, where if you notice his weight was constantly shifting from his front leg to his back leg, which takes away some of the sting out of a leg kick. And when your weight is constantly shifting from your front to your back leg, leg kicks don't really have much of an impact on mobility.
      But if the fight ended up on the ground, I think Aldo would win, but that's IF he could take down Conor McGregor.

    Ngannou is legitimately one of the most tough people of all time. To go into a fight against a generationally skilled talent with the organization you work for doing everything it can to prop him up over you and after finding out that you have a completely fucked up knee and then win? Unbelievable. Truly astounding. He had all the pressure in the world on him. I truly believe that no one else, other then maybe Fedor, could have won that fight with those conditions. Not Stipe, not Gane, not even Cane, who I believe is the best heavyweight of all time.

If Ngannou had lost to Gane, no more Jones superfight, no more boxing Tyson Fury, no "pay me what I deserve", nothing. His options would have been bow down and kiss Dana's ass or Bellator.
