Isn't it awesome to find things just as they were left so long ago in American history! You are the first person to touch those items in 160 years. Looks like a lot was going on in that spot on that last day! Great video.
I could watch this stuff all day Beau! You are fantastic! And not too far from me. I am very passionate about this hobby and you bring it to life . Thank you. The history you uncover is unbelievable. Bravo!
Fascinating. I always learn something new watching your vids. Thank you for respecting all wildlife, even the lowly cicada. I miss the sound of them now that I live in CA.
Thanks Beau for consistently producing top quality videos. Coupled with your excellent and knowledgeable commentary they are a real pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work. Best regards Dale (UK)
Thanks for the mega vid Beau, and the rest of your detecting vids. Much appreciated! Got my 1'st detector (Ace 350) a week ago, and studying up on technique, etc. Ladd, noggin, and others too. Watched your shovel vid this morning, and did a trip to Cheapo Depot to grab a few items, including a fiberglass trenching shovel. That is the ticket for sure. This is in prep for an out of the blue invite Saturday to poke around a stone cellar hole on private property in the hills of CT while a buddy checks his cameras. I'm jazzed to say the least!
Great video and your finds were really neat. ! Really like the info you share ! It has helped me in my own hunts ! As you do , I really search around old trees and the stumps of them also ! Thanks for sharing !
Very interesting! Some really solid finds there Beau, hope you take us along on your shroom hunting adventure with the wife. Have a great weekend and Thanks for letting us tag along. :)
I started detecting just yesterday. My first purchases all cheap stuff from Harbor freight and tools. I spent 2 hours yesterday at parks and a field. Didn't find nothing but junk going to the beach next time.
Been watching your videos over a year now but have not seen all of them....your last video you said one of your older ones talked about Colonial sites and oysters.....it really grabbed my attention because I live in Salisbury, Md and at a few months into detecting last year I literally stumbled across an old homesite with no visible traces that has produced some very old items...not in great numbers and the age has a wide range but at this site I have definately dug oyster shells up and some very deep...I read they were a big deal for food and trading sometimes even for gold in Colonial times....this site has given me an 1899 barber dime, 1857 flying eagle in pretty nice shape, horseshoes and tack and a wicked flatbutton with design that forum guys date 1750's-1770's a small Colonial buckle that they say would date 1720's-1790's the buckle is intact which I am told is rare and no one can nail down what it was...some say childs shoe some say womens hat buckle....not sure sometime soon I will send tou pictures to you Facebook and see what you think...anyway do you know which video you meant with the oysters? Can you provide a link? Keep the great videos coming man, I look forward to them all the time....Stay safe and Happy Hunting!
Good to see you do a long land-hunt video. Your work ethic is awesome--especially your water videos. Wish I had the stamina you have, but then you're about 25 years younger. Don't hesitate to do longer videos. Even though we aren't seeing all the activity between the holes we do see, we can get a better sense of the flow of your approach to the job at hand. Thanks a lot for your commitment to detecting and your audience. Been hunting for several years, but I always appreciate the teaching! Exanimo
@@aquachigger I agree; I admire you so much... For your terrific attitude, impressive personal work ethic, and your stellar hunting/detecting ethics. I've watched other hunting/detecting/searching/finding videos, but yours are truly a step above! Except for a few videos on a couple of channels I try to keep up to date on daily and those I watch with my brother when he comes to keep me company (since I'm unable to leave my rooms/bed most of the time), I find myself entranced by your videos and watch them for hours and days on end! 😊😊😊 In fact, I'm fairly positive that even after I've seen all of your videos, I'll still be happy to watch them again. I really loved this longer video, too, though I understand why you can't make them this long. Also, I must admit that finding you hunting/digging alone in a forest still throws me off a little bit as I watched almost exclusively water videos for the first few days. 😄🤗💜
Great Hunt!!! Lot of interesting finds and congrats on your fly eagle penny. Looking forward to see the button cleaning video. I have a few I need to clean. Thanks for the great video and as always....GL/HH
Hi Beau, nice buttons.... nice flying eagle cent!! your detector and pin pointer talk to each other!!? cool....nice mushroom :).. bad pull tab:(.... nice wee knive.. Bet that bug was pleased to meet you!! :(.... lovely finds..very informative video...cheers,G, :)
You can tumble the coin in a container with walnut hulls which can be bought like at Harbor Freight and many other places. I told you in another video that I use a cement mixer. The oil on the shells really polishers stuff up without removing the integrity of the item...
Great video. Centipedes do sting by the way....with the front forcipules which they use to inject venom. Stay clear. I have been stung and it really was not that bad but one never knows how they may react. Awesome buttons.
Good hunting once again! Pleasure to watch. Got to love those Eagles. I dug an Officers "I" here in the heart of Ohio on an enlistment camp site near home, once again thanks again for sharing, everything you found was great. Best to your next hunt! -Jeff
Beau, once again thanks for dragging us along. Do you suppose one of the Camp Followers had her clothing repair tent set up in the Button area. It's kinda fun to think of what was going during that time period. The impact Bullets don't really fit in with that theory though.
Excellent!!! Best 40 min video I've sat through in a while! Love the high impact Bullets. I really hope i get the opportunity to dig some awesome relics like you Bro. GL+HH TTYL Your Pal Thejunkjunkie
People if your out there detecting be sure to fill the holes back in like Chigger does. It hurts really bad when somebody like me with a bad back steps in one of them holes and it stops the ground from washing to bad.
I put a big salt block out for the deer behind our house and the next day it was gone. Nobody in no way could've known it was there and to get it they would've had to walk through our yard and nobody walks through the yard. I sat the block on a dry spot surrounded by soft dirt, there were no tracks but mine anywhere around, no animal tracks nothing.
Love your videos! I think your detector goes nuts because of the field produced by your pin pointer. It may be picking it up through inductance in the cable itself, and may produce the tone without the coil attached to the detector. Just and educated guess. Thanks for looking out for the fox and all the great vids!
If you dry that gunpowder out it will burn. Gunpowder doesn't go bad, it just disperses into the soil. They've found gunpowder in shipwrecks that still burned when dried out. In fact, there was an unfortunate CW cannon ball hunter a few years ago in Chester, VA who was killed in his driveway by a shell. He was pretty experienced at dismantling the fuzes from fired "dud" shells, but the one that killed him was a little different... His wife was convinced he disabled the fuze, that there must have been some defect, but it killed him anyway. A 44 lb naval cannon ball... Be very, very careful with old shells if you find them and old gunpowder remnants. They can still be viable and explosive after all these years. God bless, Beau
if your in the southwest you also see these , but they are not salt licks. they are abandoned mine shafts. some are only a couple feet deep to over 1800 feet deep. WATCH YOUR STEP !!!!!!!
I like finding fired wormed bullets. Knowing they got frustrated trying to pull it out but couldn't and just fired it. Found a couple of fired wormed Williams cleaners...can't figure that one out..
As I haven't the best attention span usually, the fact I watched the whole thing without checking email or scrolling to the comments should tell you how watchable these long vids are.
***** I don't get bored at all with any of your vids, I've watched pretty much all of them. What is odd is that I don't even own a metal detector... But you are winning me over to buying one! :D
Awesome video. I can't help but think you found the remains of an officers frock coat. I have one question and one observation for ya. First, What detector are you using? I have an old whites machine but want to upgrade. I live in central Illinois so not many places to hunt civil war relics but coins are fun at an old house site along with buttons. I did find a cavalry staff officers button. Custer time period. Which brings me to my second point. I spent many years in the cavalry. It is pronounced cavalry. 😄 As in 6th Cav. Or a cavalcade of soldiers. Calvary is where Christ was crucified. Awesome vids. Keep them coming. I would love to find a belt plate someday. You have found so many but I bet you still get a thrill knowing it came from a civil war soldiers hand and then to yours when you find it. I like that connection to those people from the past. Thanks.😃😃😃
Well I watched half of the vid and I will watch the end tomorrow but its already a really nice vid thanks Beau! stupid squirells like saturnism i suppose! Jan
Cool video! I'm glad you put the cicada back in his hole, even if they're noisy buggers! The only correction I wish to make is in regards to what you said about the Spencer casing and the calvary. It's cavalry. Calvary is where Jesus was crucified. You wouldn't be the first to mix those up though. :)
With all the buttons in the same spot that has to be a final resting place of a war casualty, I just can't even begin to think all the buttons fell off in the same spot along with what what was in the pockets I would dig every signal I got in that spot.
Great video as always Beau! I Really like the long videos! Do you think the area you were finding everything was a camp? Hopefully you can fan out around that area and find some more great stuff! Wish I could go with ya bud! GL&HH!
Another great video I love the sound of that machine. I found a half Real a few days ago and a gorgeous suspender buckle. In my newest video I found a Counterfeit 8 real. Just my luck, but still old and a good fake. 1781

Wasn't Bill the guy who found the button dump? I think I saw him on a digging show too. My best Civil War era find was a pinfire pistol French or Belgian at a military swap meet for $25 bucks. It sure looks functonal. He also had a very old "pirate pistol" I didn't have $25 more for :( That thing looked friggin cool.
Great video. Someday I hope to get back to a Civil War battle site or camp. Last week I found a 1942 dime and thought I had a good hunt. Would love to hunt the places you go. Just to find a bullet or button from the Civil War would make my day!
That button / coin / bullet area seemed like a depression area. I was wondering if it was a camp, quick grave or they set up an area where they propped up jackets, etc to fake out the enemy as a trap.
Another great video Beau. I like how you're so careful when you did holes. Most people would'nt care about bugs and roots. I wanted to know, hows that new coil working on your Minelab? Better than the stock one?
Really enjoyed until you found the Flying Eagle. I used to have 2 of them that somehow "disappeared". Put it out of my mind, appreciated and enjoyed the pile of buttons, bullets (always). and more. Thanks as always, Beau.
@@aquachigger I hope they do. They showed almost no wear. We had a bit of remodeling done and it wasn't long after that I couldn't find them. With all the "stuff" I've accumulated, it's still possible. You've reminded me to think "positively". Thanks, Beau.
Thumbs up! I learn so much from watching your vids,...your sure do know how to read the land. My son watches you too and he has an AT Pro,...he was watching this one and was like "I thought he used an AT Pro" I told him you have several,....but which one are you using here?

I don't understand how you differentiate the high pitch and the low pitch like which one means you are right over the spot and also how do you know whether it's going to be iron or aluminum or silver?
Isn't it awesome to find things just as they were left so long ago in American history! You are the first person to touch those items in 160 years. Looks like a lot was going on in that spot on that last day! Great video.

***** watched the whole thing! nice finds there, interesting your detector acts exactly like my T2 when I move my PP
From the close proximity of the buttons and coin you may have been digging stuff from a fallen or more likely a wounded officer.
Cool video! I'm glad you put the cicada back in his hole, even if they're noisy buggers! The only correction I wish to make is in regards to what you said about the Spencer casing and the calvary. It's cavalry. Calvary is where Jesus was crucified. You wouldn't be the first to mix those up though. :)

im pretty sure the coin said 1854 on it. what a great find!
Flying eagle cents were only minted in 1856,1857, and 1858. 1856 being the most rare year, but any one in good clean condition is a rarity.:)
How are you fishing 🎣 in that cold 🥶 water 💧? Do you have waterproof gloves ? I usually get my legs and feet wet . And of coarse the hands. I would be freezing
what a day, flying eagle, buttons, any way to increase your odds of finding a gold coin, or only random luck
Thanks for responding Beau! Is that the "tough" series camera? How many gigs SD card do you use? Thanks
I don't understand how you differentiate the high pitch and the low pitch like which one means you are right over the spot and also how do you know whether it's going to be iron or aluminum or silver?
