No need to drill the hole for the F38, I folded some paper in half and drew around the bottom of the F38 base plate. Cut it out and locked it in place on the dji nato rail. It’s not the width that’s the issue it’s the additional height that dji added to there own quick release plate.
I got the small rig arm and their arc Swiss plate. Had to make a slight mod to it to fit the arc Swiss L bracket I use on my camera. I am really liking the mini 3 . Tried other brands but this works brilliantly

Hello I tried to connect my RS3 Mini to Fuji X-T30 ii with RSS USB-C to USB-C cable. The camera is equipped with XF 27mm 2.8 lens. Both camera and lens are listed as compatible at DJI website. But when I tried to use the follow focus feature with the gimbal's dial, I've found that it's completely unusable. And the reason is following. When I try to set the focus using gimbal's dial, the focus starts changing. But when I stop moving the dial, the focus does not stop changing. Sometimes the focus does not start changing when I start moving the dial. Sometimes the focus goes into infinity instantly. Overall experience is very laggy and I cannot use the feature in real shooting. Both lens are working normally, the focus in being set properly with the lens' dial. As RS3 mini supports changing other parameters with gimbal's dial, such as ISO and aperture, I tried changing them and it works smootly. The problem is only with focus pulling. Also I've noticed that while changing the focus with gimbal's dial, the s.s., F and ISO indicators on the bottom of the camera screen, which are normally blue in fully manual mode, are blinking into white and then into blue again. So I guess there is some issue in camera firmware in part of processing the RSS input for focus parameter. The camera and the gimbal both have the latest firmware by date I tried operating the camera both in USB tether auto and USB tether fixed modes - the result is the same. Am I missing some settings, or I've ran into a bug? Thank you!
Thanks. I'd like more room to balance my lens back and forth with a longer plate. At 2:13 you secured the clamp onto the DJI mount with only 1 hole. How secure/tight is that and wouldn't there be a chance of coming loose?
I guess I was lucky... I was using the Arca Swiss plate that comes with the PGY tech mini tripod and it works with the RS3 mini... didn't even realise that it didn't work with every Arca Swiss plate. That's dumb though, that it doesn't.
My biggest frustration has been with the Tilta cage on my FX3. There's no way I can get it balanced even having the combo of lens+camera with the cage below 3.4lb. It's always bottom heavy and I even if I get to the bottom limit of the side slide, it's always unstable 'cause it would need to go even further to the bottom. When I remove the cage, everything balances well.
@@jasonleung6433 no, it's still under the max supported weight. I'm guessing it's related to the center of gravity because when the cage is on, when I attach the DJI's small release plate to the cage, the camera height might be a bit high to have it properly balanced.
The RS3 Mini arm is actually a NATO rail, but NATO clamp + Manfrotto RC2 base (my QR system) is too high. So I drilled n screwed the base directly like you did.

Few problems I get with the rs3 mini: 1. all the tutorials are in Chinese?? 2. With some motions the gimbal goes in overdrive acts erratic and frankly spooks the heck out of me.. first time gimbal user but I thought I’d have a lot of freedom working with that?? My set up is well below 2kgs and properly balanced 3. The panorama mode looked promising but what’s with the setup and all those angles? Am I a computer or something? I want a simple view from my camera and I want it to take a simple panorama, how should I set it up??? Without getting too geometrical:D 4. Same goes for Timelapses and waypoints..
the issue I have with the base plate is that Curved placement guide at the top of the plate.... yes i know it is there so you know that part is to mounted towards the lens... but it is a design flaw..... depending what camera you have. I have the Panasonic Gh5s.... it wont mount correctly as the camera is a little thicker... so the only way if you want to use the DJI plate is to mount it backwards..... but then you cant open the OLED screen on the gh5s. I have purchased the falcam adaptor. And to be honest the Curved placement guide on the DJI base plate is really pointless.
Really want to live the rs3 mini. I bought it to use with a GH5, but for some reason the mini specifically states it cannot control tv, av, iso for this camera while the RS3, RSC2 both do... very strange I might have to return it and buy the rsc2 just to use it with my GH5...
Bought a rs3 mini just cus i had no idea where was a difference. And I use a 70-200 micro lense from Sony on a a6400 should I git a different one or is there a fix
The arca Swiss thing is also most annoying thing in my opinion as I also use peak design gear. With your hack you are loosing the possibility the balance the camera to the sides. Not sure if this is so smart…
Hi Jeven how compatible isthe Bluetooth functionality across camera brands? Can I use this gimbal Bluetooth to record and control shutter on a Nikon z body?
Not sure on nikon because I haven’t tested it. If you can connect via Bluetooth then it should work. Contact DJI support and the should be able to help you
Im using this gimbal with the Nikon Z6ii. The bluetooth only can control start and stop recording. If you want to control shutter, focus, iso, aperture you need to use the usb-c cable.
I remember reading in an Amazon review about how the only thing Bluetooth works with besides Record is unfortunately the Zoom, worse still, it doesn't work with Optical zoom.
Hi Jeven. How to balance a lense with a zoom range? I balanced mine halfway the size it can be, but when I change my zoomlens to zoom in or out, the balance is off and gimbal goes in to sleepmode, also in the middle of a shot, wich is frustrating for filming weddings. I won't dare to try it on a wedding yet, because of it. Any tips?
Jeven do you have editing courses on creator film school? I’m talking about like creative editing, once you have all your footage from there on I’m usually lost how and where to start editing. Creative thought behind it. How to start telling the story with the footage that I already have. Then of course technical side of it. For example Final Cut Pro, how to edit with this program, all the technical step by step tutorials. Anyways I’m interested in these kind of courses. Do you offer this on creator film school? Thank you 🙏
I have a Final Cut Pro course that does go through some of the creative but I’m doing another class soon that is all about the creative side of editing and how to cut stories together
@@JevenDovey so I was just checking out the website, my understanding is that monthly membership will get you access to all the videos that is also available to purchase as individual courses?
What really pi....ed me off with the mounting plate that came with my DJI RS2 is that there is only one screw hole to mount the camera cage onto it. When you run a bigger lens with the focus motor it will make the whole camera rig move around the vertical axis of this one screw until the focus motor loses contatct with the lens - UGHRRRR! Bought a 3rd. party plate that allows for 2 or more screws to fix the camera cage tightly.
For some odd reason I can’t get my camera to balance vertically on this gimbal and i need to shoot vertical for my social media job content very odd because my set up is fairly light
the biggest problem for me is you cant use a cage because it becomes top heavy and you cant add a counterweight as there is the release button on the back

Jeven, the timing of this video could not have been better, my RS3 Mini arrives today, AND I already use the Falcam 38 on everything I own (including my coffee cup); QUESTION - WHAT size of drill bit did you use? WHERE did you decide to put the hole at (how far in from what end) ; WHAT length of 1/4 20 did you use. Again, the timing of this video was nothing perfect; THANK YOU SIR.
Not sure the exact size bit. My tool bench is a mess so I grabbed one that was the size of my screw 😂. How I decided where to put it is by fitst balancing the gimbal and getting the camera where i want it. Then using that spot. You can still adjust the weight side to side using the back arm so as long as you find a good balance spot you can adjust from there. Also If you really needed to you can add a few holes and move the quick release based on the gear/lens you're using.
What are folks using for mic/sound with the Mini or just using the camera mic?I have the Sony ECM-B10 but it's too big when paired with the a7siii. I could use my DJI wireless mic but it doesn't seem like the best solution. Maybe I just need to settle for the onboard mic on the a7siii.

2. With some motions the gimbal goes in overdrive acts erratic and frankly spooks the heck out of me.. first time gimbal user but I thought I’d have a lot of freedom working with that?? My set up is well below 2kgs and properly balanced
3. The panorama mode looked promising but what’s with the setup and all those angles? Am I a computer or something? I want a simple view from my camera and I want it to take a simple panorama, how should I set it up??? Without getting too geometrical:D
4. Same goes for Timelapses and waypoints..
Hey why this manufacture didn't apply hot shoe shock on their gimble for smartphone additional light or mic? it's a serious need but i do not know why
the issue I have with the base plate is that Curved placement guide at the top of the plate.... yes i know it is there so you know that part is to mounted towards the lens... but it is a design flaw..... depending what camera you have. I have the Panasonic Gh5s.... it wont mount correctly as the camera is a little thicker... so the only way if you want to use the DJI plate is to mount it backwards..... but then you cant open the OLED screen on the gh5s. I have purchased the falcam adaptor. And to be honest the Curved placement guide on the DJI base plate is really pointless.
are the plates you mentioned compatible with peak design tripod / capture clip?
what about using Peak Design capture clips standard plates? would they work with the RS3 mini?
No that’s a standard arca Swiss. That won’t work unless you modify like I did.
@@JevenDovey Shame that won't work. I had the same question.
Really want to live the rs3 mini. I bought it to use with a GH5, but for some reason the mini specifically states it cannot control tv, av, iso for this camera while the RS3, RSC2 both do... very strange I might have to return it and buy the rsc2 just to use it with my GH5...
How do I keep the pan to stay straight? Lol I’ve lowered follow speed. When I lock the gimbal with the trigger it doesn’t seem to do anything…?
Does it have ActiveTracking? If yes how to use it with Sony zve10, please?
Bought a rs3 mini just cus i had no idea where was a difference. And I use a 70-200 micro lense from Sony on a a6400 should I git a different one or is there a fix
The arca Swiss thing is also most annoying thing in my opinion as I also use peak design gear.
With your hack you are loosing the possibility the balance the camera to the sides. Not sure if this is so smart…
You can still balance side to side with my modification. The arm slides. You don’t need the DJI plate to slide
Ah ok- that’s awesome then indeed 💪
dude, was this filmed in San Clemente?
Ya
that was cool to see!
Instead of drilling out the arm buy the Smallrig arca swiss plate.
0:17 a good gimbal to get “OR NOT”, sound very Malaysian 😂
I found a way to use Peak Design Plates! There is a adapter from Niceyrig who fits with minor modification in the DJI Clamp.
@Pumpi you have a link for it?
@@gavinjai I can't post it here in the comments. There is a reddit thread where this problem is discussed.
Do you think it’s possible to balance a canon r3 on it. Waiting for my RS3 mini to come in now
Hi Jeven how compatible isthe Bluetooth functionality across camera brands? Can I use this gimbal Bluetooth to record and control shutter on a Nikon z body?
Not sure on nikon because I haven’t tested it. If you can connect via Bluetooth then it should work. Contact DJI support and the should be able to help you
Im using this gimbal with the Nikon Z6ii. The bluetooth only can control start and stop recording. If you want to control shutter, focus, iso, aperture you need to use the usb-c cable.
@@ManishGosalia Thanks for the clarification!
@@ManishGosalia thanks
I remember reading in an Amazon review about how the only thing Bluetooth works with besides Record is unfortunately the Zoom, worse still, it doesn't work with Optical zoom.
Hi Jeven. How to balance a lense with a zoom range? I balanced mine halfway the size it can be, but when I change my zoomlens to zoom in or out, the balance is off and gimbal goes in to sleepmode, also in the middle of a shot, wich is frustrating for filming weddings. I won't dare to try it on a wedding yet, because of it. Any tips?
The only way to fix this is to use a Zoom lens that isn’t going in and out. It rather should be all inside the lens
@@JevenDovey That would be amazing, I’m going to sign up today. Thanks for your hard work to educating us .
@@JevenDovey so I was just checking out the website, my understanding is that monthly membership will get you access to all the videos that is also available to purchase as individual courses?
I want the RS3 Mini in carbon fiber and the locking of the RS3/RS3 Pro.
Epic video!
can i charge it while i'm runnin' gunnin'?
Can’t decide between the RS3 and RS3 mini, the price difference is smaller in Sweden so cost isn’t a factor.
A half locked mini seems less packable than a locker rs3. It’s important to just be able to pick up a balanced gimbal and start shooting
RS3 Mini has been totally great but I guess it gets perfect with this info.
Do you know if a Canon Rebel T3i would fit on the RS3 mini?
What really pi....ed me off with the mounting plate that came with my DJI RS2 is that there is only one screw hole to mount the camera cage onto it.
When you run a bigger lens with the focus motor it will make the whole camera rig move around the vertical axis of this one screw until the focus motor loses contatct with the lens - UGHRRRR!
Bought a 3rd. party plate that allows for 2 or more screws to fix the camera cage tightly.
im still not consistent on the z-axis. some shots ill get and it's butter and some, not so much. need more practice.
For some odd reason I can’t get my camera to balance vertically on this gimbal and i need to shoot vertical for my social media job content very odd because my set up is fairly light
the biggest problem for me is you cant use a cage because it becomes top heavy and you cant add a counterweight as there is the release button on the back
Depends on the camera. Im using my A7C with the smallrig cage with no issues.
is this rs3 mini can handle the R6 with rf 24-70?
Can you use the RS3 mini with a smartphone?
You need to adjust the stiffness for that.
@@shadostorm8375 I'm now using my Pixel 7 Pro and the RS 4 PRO lol
pls try a7iv + sigma 40mm
Can this be used with the canon 250 d dslr
Check the weight of your camera lens combo and see it it exceeds the weight limit
@@JevenDovey thanks for such a quick response, it's 2kg(appropriate wait for the gimbal), I've read the focus wheel doesn't work but if I'm using auto on my camera already would this matter
@@JevenDovey thank you sir, your response came faster than my RS3 delivery today.

My biggest problem is that I can’t balance a r6 with a 15-35 on it.
Can anyone explain how to get “half lock mode”?
You goto close to the mid point, lock that axis and turn it to mid point then u get the half lock mode.
I used Sony a73 and sigma art 50 mm 1.4 but still can't balance huhu😢
What are folks using for mic/sound with the Mini or just using the camera mic?I have the Sony ECM-B10 but it's too big when paired with the a7siii. I could use my DJI wireless mic but it doesn't seem like the best solution. Maybe I just need to settle for the onboard mic on the a7siii.
This one is perfect for on the Mini ua-cam.com/video/aa3eIDQxoWU/v-deo.html
@@JevenDovey Thanks Jeven
Not sure why, but I didn’t know I could get spare batteries for the RS3 until 8:59 of this video.
My son has rs3 trust me there are more frustrating things in this gimbal
I would prefer rsc2 over rs3 mini
