I Wouldn't Beat Yourself Up about the Damage Too much. It was a Weak Spot just waiting to Break. The Right Person Fixed It though. That's what's Important! Just the right Color. So Warm and Beautiful! The Top Looks Great! I Don't see any Flaws. You're Such a Perfectionist!
It turned out so well! It's beautiful and still looks like it came out of an old time furniture showroom. I love how you stay true to the pieces you are working on. Beautiful!
@@justjulee9135 thanks. I often think of trying something different but always feel too bad painting over something that still has the potential to be beautiful. 😉
Beautiful job as usual. The rich tones of the walnut veneer was beautiful. I have mixed emotions on the back cut-out. It seemed to disconnect from the bottom imo. But again a beautiful job on this MCM china cabinet.
Thanks! I am on the fence about the cutout as well. I saw someone else do it and really liked it. But I suspect I will sell the piece without the hutch anyhow! 😌
I wouldn't feel comfortable unless I swapped the front and back aprons. and put a strip of wood or metal strap for reinforcement. Love the style of LaFontaine.
I've only refinished one buffet. It was a LA Fontaine as well. I loved doing that more than dressers. I had to take mine almost fully apart. I'd love to do more of them but transportation is hard, they are so big. Yours turned out just beautiful 😊
I love refinishing buffets as well, I am lucky that a have a pickup truck and a husband who doesn’t mind my obsession and is always ready to help on pick up days! 🤣
Awesome job, and great recovery. I really wish some of the Canada products were available in the US, like that gel stain brand. The tones are superior. On the veneer repair, I wonder if you could put pva on the surface and the veneer pieces, let it dry, and then iron it back on? I’ve seen Ahti do that on his channel. I love your work.
I don’t think the break was entirely your fault. That substrate was faulty to begin with. I don’t restore furniture, (it’s more of a spectator sport for me) but could you have put masking tape over the entire panel of veneer, peeled off the masking tape and veneer, and then glued the entire thing back on? I’m sure there’s plenty wrong with that idea, but it’s what my mind came up with.

Beautiful work as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
Stuff happens, and you did a great job repairing an inevitable fail. Nice finished redo.
Thanks! Story of my life...Stuff happens! 🤣
Love what you did with the piece. Your vast knowledge on refinishing is inspiring!
Thanks, glad you liked it! ☺️
Wow, this is beautiful!! Great job with repairing the break in the base and restoring the the piece 😍👏🤩
Thanks!☺️
It’s absolutely gorgeous! I don’t think old pieces are supposed to be completely perfect. A few imperfections give it character.
I 💯agree!

Thanks for the idea! There’s always a ton of ways to repair damage! Coming up with the ideas is half the battle!
