There were some shark fishermen off Jacksonville Florida. Went out in a small boat loaded down with coolers full of bloody bait. They were chumming heavy and about the time they had a lot of sharks chimed up, they were hit by a storm that capsized the boat. Now they're in the water with these big coolers, enough to hold 1 person each. Don't know how many hours the drifted before they were found, but all made it back alive. It was all over the papers and on TV news about 20 or 30 years ago. You might be able to do a "what were they thinking of" video. I would not have wanted to be in th err or predicament for that many hours wondering if anyone would find them. Crazy!

Hi Hal! Much love! I love sharks but my fat ass isn't about to get near the water! I enjoy from terra firma! I'm quite certain if I was in a crowd of 10,000 people the shark would find me & chew me up! One of my biggest fears is swimming in the ocean, unable to see anything in all that deep dark water under & around me! Hell no! No matter how strong of a swimmer you are, the shark can swim better. I'm not that good of a swimmer so I'm doomed from the get go. Since I love watching sharks, I stay tuned to Hal & the YT. I won't even swim in fresh water. The idea of catfish & bluegills nibbling on my toes is too much for me.

Brother, you talk about attacks that I have never heard of, you’re the greatest!!! An interesting idea..Great whites Inside the Gulf Of Mexico…they are definitely there but fisherman say the sightings of them are growing!!
I live in Titusville near Cape Canaveral Florida and over the past 5 years there has been regular sightings of whites off the coast up and down the east coast of Florida. Populations are making a come back, and there are no Orcas this far south so they have no real predators here. I know they're going up to the Northeast/New England area for the seals, and I have seen Killer whales on Deep Sea Fishing expeditions up north.. but unlike in Australia (or was it South Africa?) there hasn't been any confirmed attacks on Whites by the Killer whales off the east coast of the States. It's funny cuz even though East-Central Florida is the shark attack capital of the world, people always used to say.... "at least we don't have Great Whites....". Whoops! Times have changed.
I saw a couple recent videos of whites off the keys 5 or so miles. The other I think was 15 miles out. They are definitely there, but usually not close to shore and the Global Shark Attack File who complies and investigates all the attacks claims there has never been an attack by a white in Fl waters.

He’s telling stories. Coming up to his own conclusions. He knows nothing about sharks. It’s to make money. Especially the stories of lives lost at sea, no body found, one survivor. He decides it was definitely a shark. There’s no evidence. And prosecutors when there’s no body are basically screwed if foul play is suspected. One story about a shark he told the boyfriend gave the biggest fake story about shark behaviour and how he tried to save her. She was never found and he was fine..but yeah, shark attack at night very far from shore. Most shark bites happen in less than 4 ft of water. And they’re mostly tiny.
@@dhaselfeldwhat’s “dishonest” about the background photo? It’s simply a picture of a shark, he never claims it has anything to do with any of the stories. It’s a cool picture to look at, that’s all.

Hi Hal this one was a great video, my god the stupidity of the fellow catching the octopus, give the shark the bag and swim like hell is my advice. Mate this video is awesome keep them coming. Can I ask one question, do you like the Great White sharks or dislike them. Not that it matters but I am interested. I have been a great supporter of them since childhood. I used to live in Brisbane Australia, off the coast is an island call Moreton island. Years ago there used to be a Whale catching station on this island, they had a big ramp going from the water into the processing area. The waters around this station were literally full of just about every shark known to man, with Great Whites being the largest, I don’t think very many people went swimming back then though. Keep these coming mate.Cheers from the land of very toxic venomous snakes.

I love your channel!😀❤️ It’s truly made me so much more aware of sharks! I’ve definitely learned a lot more from you! But still have questions?? If sharks really don’t like eating humans, why do they attack more than once? I’ve heard in other shark videos that some people think sharks are starting to like the taste of humans??? Then I’ve watched Malibu artist, he has a drone flying over California beaches. It shows sharks all around people and never bothering people?! I am conflicted!! I’ve love to hear your thoughts. 😊 I was never super worried about sharks, maybe more after the movie jaws! But in the last few years, I won’t swim in the water, I’ll dip in and get right out! I’m not taking any chances! I live on Cape Cod and recently saw a video of some kind of shark in Pocasset! He had got himself stuck in very low water! I’m pretty sure it’s where me and my boys used to jump off a bridge for fun!! Never again!!!😬😱🦈🦈🦈 THANK YOU so much for sharing these videos!!!😀💙🦈
They dont not like the taste of any flesh. I think it is the meat they can get. So, big white lightly bites a person, if in a bony place it is less likely to follow thru than if they get meat…. If sharks liked to eat us it would have happened long ago. Too many try to think for the animal instead of just observing and calling it like it is.
NO. It hasn't made you 'more aware'. It has played to your fears to gain influence. This guy knows very little about sharks as I can see but wants an audience. UA-cam pays remember. He is the original travelling snake oil salesman reinvented for UA-cam. UA-cam pays remember. Maybe you guys need to read Huckleberry Fin again. This guy should be tarred and feathered.
What Hal has brought up is that sharks prefer seals but have to maintain food to survive! If they are in need of nutrition, but had not successfully caught food for the day and there you are, easy meal, can’t escape like fast moving seals! They don’t feed they die! How many times have you desired one certain meal, but ended up eating something else?
Because it’s sad that this channel is dishonest and blames sharks “eating” people as the cause of death with zero proof. If a wife or relative go missing, it’s most likely murder and the body was dumped far out off of a boat. There are only 6 to 9 deaths from shark bites a year in the whole world. We mostly live in costal areas. Almost 9 billion people, if sharks were a real risk imagine what the numbers would be. It’s why he has to go so far back in time and even then he’s told stories with completely conflicting stories from survivors. They don’t like human meat, period. And there is plenty for them to eat. But they’re getting slaughtered for their fins and because of humans fear. Peter Benchley said if he knew the devastating effect his book Jaws would have on people and the vilification of sharks, he’d never write it and spends tons of money on educating people trying to undo the harm he’s done.
You are too nice Hal, I'll say it: the guy was an idiot 😂 I understand not wanting to give up something so cool but come on man, this is a large tiger shark...he put himself on the menu the moment he kicked that shark lol he was like "oh word? Wassup den? You like that bite? Have another! Is you done or is you finished?" Idk why I imagined that shark as a gangster but I did lol
I lived in Florida for 20 years and the beach and ocean is what I miss more than anything. I use to swim in it all the time as long as I wasnt alone. Never had any problem other than a run in with a stingray. I never swam alone because thats when my imagination would get the best of me. I just wont let anything run me out of the water. I love it too much.
Same. Many of these stories end with no body being found but it’s just blamed on sharks? And some of these stories where someone survives but a shark just shows up and destroys a person like a rag doll are also likely b.s. from what they see in movies. I think the detectives know, but with no body, hard to prosecute. I used to be afraid of them until I watched real documentaries on sharks. No hyperbole like Shark Week. We truly need sharks for our planet, and yet they get slaughtered for fins or just existing. I swam with them in Bahamas. My cousins scuba dive and feed them (with businesses certified with every safety precaution daily. Not one bite). All of this footage, taken by people in the water! It truly breaks my heart to see them vilified. And most sharks ARE afraid of people.
Binging this channel for a week plus now and learned a lot.. I cringe to think all the times I swam in deep water at the beach.. I live near LA.. wtf was I thinking.. I could have easily been hit and now.. swimming in there.. F that.. ain't worth it..
I've heard that if you're spear fishing and a shark wants your food, that you should never give it to them. It will associate you with food and not only attack you, but it puts future divers in danger of that shark knowing he can get your food. I hate seeing octopus killed, they're way too intelligent. I laughed a little too. Love the show 🦈
Hey Hal, really enjoying your channel, you just can't beat a good shark attack story. Im in bed watching them, I close my eyes and imagine being the victim.👊🏻 🙋🏻🇬🇧
Bumping can make you bleed due to that sandpaper skin on sharks. It's a way to tell if your edible since the blood rushes to the inner surface of the skin. That's when they can smell the blood. My guess is the girl that got bumped on the back had thick clothes so the blood in her skin never got near the inner surface of her skin. Smart animals and terrible tragedies. 😢

Thought about sharks 🦈 up the rivers & the main or only sharks on our mind for a while would be GWS , Tiger & Grey Nurse (Sand Tiger?) and had never heard of Bull Sharks that I recall. Certainly some of the spots would be regarded as prime Bull Shark spots today. Caught plenty of baby & small sharks in the rivers & some bigger ones outside.
Noticed the Logo on ur Sweat Shirt. Just another trackie top or you employed/own tackle business. I get newsletters/videos from a business over in USA (Florida??) Salt Strong. Just curiosity digger. Thank for another great vid. Ya shark 🦈 seems to be growing behind ya there. 👋🏻👍🏻🦈🇦🇺
My father works at the Tackle Center in Islamorada. Has since they were at the old shop when it was used for the Bloodline series
I live off grid in the mountain west, about all I have is you tube for entertainment ; Once again Hal great show, I thank you ✔️
Stay with this look brother, good show and the production value needs to be as good as the content, IMHO.
Hi Hal, great show 👍 I don't get people! To get back into the water after a person was taken away by a shark is just nuts !
Love these! You are a great narrator!
‘he kicked the shark.’
Fell outta my chair.
Crazy!
You are so funny and truthful telling these stories you have researched there is no way I can fall asleep listening to these especially when you do the 3 men telling stories
I want that octopus... No, its my octopus so if you want it you're gonna have to take it.....
OK bad boy lets go.
You're a great host! You remind me of a crazy uncle (I mean 'good crazy'.... As in "fun-loving & animated.....full of knowledge to pass down & who always has the best stories to tell!" 🦈
I went SURFING at Cape Canaveral FL and my board got bumped pretty hard! This was last Christmas. I seen the other day a Big White Pinged a Tower at Port Canaveral. And there is also a video of a big white at Port Canaveral. I would never do that again!!
Awesome show! Thanks Hal
Second Beach in Port St. Johns is in South Africa. I think you slipped and said Australia. Nonetheless, I love the show. Great stories. 👍🏼
Hi Hal!
Chuckle, chuckle…….I’ve got a dtr. Mature age, 💩💩 scared of them. I like the water & once you’re in & having fun you seem to forget about them. When surf 🏄♂️ ing years, eons ago there could sharks, dolphins swimming under us & yeah were the Idiots & stayed out there, luckily didn’t get bit. 😳👀🦈🇦🇺
A school of minnow drew blood from my right nipple this one time. Even the small fish bite, folks ; )
When i was describing French looking all around him i was a little scared…. Would never want to see a white while in the water
@@SharksHappen - Me neither digger. I wonder if one would go stiff boarded & resign.youself to ur fate with dirty undies in ya budgie smugglers. Best to have swing & hope to get lucky i suppose!!! 🙄🙄😆😆
I think it was Catherine that swam along the FL coast and down the Keys several years ago.
Yeah,What was he thinking?
Over an octopus 🐙?
I mean, I know times are hard and money can be scarce and octopus is expensive but the trade off he got was just ludicrous..
But he also supplied humor to us!
You never told whether or not he made it in successfully with the octopus.I wanna know if he held on to em throughout his rescue...Can't imagine the EMT getting it away from him if that shark didn't!!
I like watching these videos before I go surfing. Who needs theme parks when you have the ocean. 😆🌊🦈
@@SharksHappen probably to protect tourism 🙄. No I’ve lived in Florida all my life I grew up in Orlando and I really don’t remember any fatal attacks. I’m sure there has been but normally they’re just little scrapes and bites but nothing major thank the Lord
I will always remember going to see the film "JAWS",
I was 7 maybe 8, my Brother & Sisters even younger.
The film started, no one had been eaten just yet but
I kid you not just hearing the films intro music was
enough for me to run out of the cinema. True Story.
I was about the same age when i saw it. But it had been out already for a year or so til i saw it
Hilarious 😂 !! Love the “What were you thinking” change up!! Rofl! That kick must have appeared to be in “slow motion” while under water!! Lol tff
Another fan! Enjoy the stories
I love this show, you can always find more octopus but you can’t regrow a limb. I wonder if he kept his catch afterwards.
It didnt say. I have an attack on a guy tgat just speared a King fish and the line was wrapped around him after the attack so he was stoked to still have the fish…..
Hell no. Not after being bit 4 times. If he did bring in the bag then He is an Idiot!
@@patricksullivan2325 Fo Show!
I’m sure he was stoked to still have his life, that might also be a normal day for people down there. “Hey I just bit by a shark”, “Aw that’s just a flesh wound”.
Thanks for the video very enlightening. My new favorite channel on yt. 2022
Nice the cameras not blurred when he's talking 👍
Damn the story about the family is horrifying.
One of the saddest I have read about yet for sure.
@@SharksHappen Really? I think it's about as real as the background photo for this post lol...
Bruv, gotta up your game. These cast need to be produced at least every other day! Please
Some things are worth fighting for. An octopus isn't one of them
Agreed!!
I’m really enjoying your channel. I can’t believe it’s taken this long to get a UTube channel up specifically about shark attacks. You’re doin a great job tho. Even tho sharks scare me to death I listen as soon as the videos get posted. Shark attacks have always been a great interest of mine since I’ve been able to read & I appreciate the fantastic job you’re you’re doing reporting them for us. Respect.✊🏼
Unfortunately he's starting to get dishonest, like with the misleading background photo on this video. Have to give a thumbs down.
I can't imagine checking out in that manner. Let's get back in the water! 😰
I noticed Second Beach has a river flowing off of it into the sea. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...
Yes!! It definitely does!!
Love your stories.. just one correction - second beach the one you said is Australia is actually south Africa. I recognize the map and also you can see Lesotho 🇱🇸 in the map. So just wanted to make that be known. Otherwise great storytelling. Very riveting.
Love your content!!!! Subscribed!
Good timing.
Great episode thank you Hal you really did your research. I hate the thought of that poor guy in Australia on 2 nd Beach at Christmas no trace of him found. That shark went past all the others straight to him. Wonder why? Mabey sharks are drawn to a certain color of clothing? Anyway cheers Matie.
White and yellow from what I’ve read.
@@smokymtnlady3856, sharks are color blind...
Oh my goodness! All of these are around Florida? YIKES!! I live in Central Florida!
Good title for the segment! What was he thinking???
Hal with the Win ! Thank you for another awesome drop! question: did Guzman live or die ?I I went back and rewatched it but either I'm missing it or it's not mentioned?
How fast are you growing Hal ,I’ve been here since the beginning I’ve hooked up 9 people and told them if they didn’t hook up 5 people on to your platform they are pussy’s.😭😭😭😭🤿🤿🤿🤿🤿😂😂😂😂😂
I had to cuz a lot of them are leftards.🤯🤯🥱🤯
He was pictured in bandages in his hospital bed giving a thumbs up
@@SharksHappen roger that ✔ thank you.
Here watching this rerun cheers
Another great vid Hal 👍💪
Many years ago I had read that Great Whites come into the Gulf of Mexico in January. They did not say if they thought MANY of them or when they tended to LEAVE.
I watched a few off the keys and 2 went into the gulf and turned back after about a week. Scot was sitting in my fishing grounds off Islamorada the day i got down there
I know those are people being attacked, sometimes fatal, but wish you'd have enough material to post each day. Man, I love this channel so much
I love your channel. What a great story teller you are Hal, thank you all the way from Denmark where there is no great whites...i sincerely hope 😎🇩🇰😁
I love all sharks, My favs are the White, then the Bronze Whaler then the Oceanic White Tip. Spooky eyes on them whalers and White Tips always creep me out. Never want to see a shark when in the water tho. So I never want to be in the water.
I'm loving this channel. Looking forward to Hal covering the Jordan Lindsey case, a young woman who was attacked and killed by 3 sharks in summer 2019 while snorkeling with her mother in the Bahamas. This one sticks with me. If Hal covered it already then I missed it somehow.
Unfortunately he's starting to get dishonest, like with the misleading background photo on this video. Have to give a thumbs down.
I will get to it eventually. Went thru the couple hundred attacks again yesterday and di not recall that story, but i have only gone over one or 2 recent attacks so far
Thank you Hal. ☘️
Love the show 🦈
Your hardly going to try keeping possession of a fish if a shark is after it you would obviously let it have the thing, are you slow?
Hey Hal, really enjoying your channel, you just can't beat a good shark attack story. Im in bed watching them, I close my eyes and imagine being the victim.👊🏻
🙋🏻🇬🇧
That's exactly what I do .I imagine I'm actually there
@@rebbeccakelly2038 imagine enjoying a nice dip in the sea, seconds later you've been bitten in half.
Why..no thanks…
OMG 😱 the victim 😳
Never even thought 💭 of that. Pretty wild imagination lol but that’s a good thing.
Funny, the bull is the only of the big 3 that use that. I figured it is ti see if soft and edible or not
As an EX Florida sharkfisher (back in the movie JAWS days) trust me when I tell you, everyone in my family only swim in pools... Don't forget gators in flooded ditches to lakes, too.
they need to open it back up. as a scalloper and former shrimper, I've seen so many damn sharks. they're everywhere.
i love the sign-off motto :D
There was a young boy who was killed by a tiger shark in Brevard county in the 90s. I grew up in the neighboring county to the north.
I looooove your channel. Lol always a huge fan!
Great to see ya laughing, Hal buddy. That dude with the octopus sure had some balls. 😂
