    This channel has had a profound impact on me. I was in Hawaii with the kids two weeks ago. We went snorkeling (reluctantly got in the water). I enjoyed it for the most part, but then I saw a sea turtle swim by. I got the hell out of the water and dragged my kids back to the boat. I heard your voice in my head, Hal.

      Skin dived so many times off the Big Island, no issues but one time found myself about 200 yards off shore at Captain Cook cove. Surfaced and saw no one else out and couldn’t get back to shore fast enough. I didn’t like being the only snack out there 😂

      Im an ex surfer who quit because of bull sharks in venice beach fl. But ive been obsessed by them my whole life and thought about them every time i surfed. Not until i watched a man catch a 12 ft bull on our surf break did i say im done. That big bull was a mother we surfed the south jetty . they nurse in the jetty. Venice beach fl is also shark tooth capital of the world. During low tide u grab handful of sand and find 10 teeth. But yeah after seeing that 12 ft bull caught 20 ft from my surf spot i said i quit lol. I knew they were there i knew not to surf by fishermen but he started fishing after we had been surfing few hours.

    I remember when I was young: around 7-8, i was swimming at the beach in Galveston Texas about 6-7 feet out and seeing the fin of a tiger shark a few meters away from me. It was around 10 feet long atleast. As soon as i spotted it, I remember swimming as fast i could as if I had already been bitten. It was coming right for me. I knew that sharks were deadly, but it wasn't untill i saw Jaws that same year; that I was petrified of them. I still would swim in the ocean occasionally, but damn I will never forget that experience. R.I.P to all the families who have lost loved ones.

    Hal I agree with you about how territorial attacks are most common. I also think that sometimes the shark hasn’t eaten and sees an easy sneak attack and goes for the people in the water, like he said on shark bites “ it’s not the shark you see that you have to worry about, it’s the one you don’t see” or in my opinion the shark that hasn’t eaten in a couple of days.

    I love your show Hal, I'm on the south coast of England and don't see many sharks. This morning however, was quite the exception. As I was returning from my routine swim of around quarter mile from shore I found myself face to face with the biggest thresher shark I've ever seen, I can't be sure but I'd estimate around 8 foot.. It was chasing bait fish and literally ran into me, knocking the wind out of me and left me floundering. 300 ft from shore in neck deep water, if it was any deeper I'd have been in trouble. I wouldn't call it an attack but could certainly have resulted in a fatality if I'd not been able to stand and catch my breath.

Most of the times when people do that, they are talking out their butt without researching. I am grateful for all the hard work and time you put into your research and in making these videos. A couple of years ago, a friend on Reunion told me that locals have been trying to get some action done to try to stop the number of shark attacks over the past fifteen years on the beaches on the coastline where that woman was killed. Authorities were reluctant to do anything citing that tourism would be affected and the best advice they gave was not to swim in murky water, to avoid early morning and late afternoon swimming. Shark Attack in NoCal this morning, I'm sure it will turn out to be a Great White, I'm guessing about a 10-13ft shark. The victim is a surfer, and he has significant injuries to the leg and stomach. Nothing confirmed yet, but that's my guess. (size and species)

    • @jritechnology
      @jritechnology 2 роки тому +2

      Steve Bruemmer is the mans name. He is still in the ICU as of today. He was apparently swimming, not surfing and is a member of a swimmer's club that swims that spot most days of the week. He did not suffer any broken bones or major organ damage. His injuries were primarily lacerations left from the bite or bites, probably some defensive wounds. No word on the size of the shark, but I'm still confident it will be a juvenile great white.

    A tigers teeth are the most efficient bite, not as scary looking like a great whites but the teeth are set up to bite clean through bone and tissue, one guy said he didn't even know what happened until he lifted his arm out of the water, he said it looked as though a cleaver hacked off his hand, he looked under and saw a tiger swimming away.

    If youve ever seen the show, "Naked and Afraid," the people on the show are desperate for food, they are in survival mode, they can set traps with the intention of catching a rat or something, but if they happen to get a snake or a bird or a raccoon, they arent saying, "oh its not what I set the trap for, so leave it, and look for something else," They are going to eat it! The shark is the same, so when I hear people say they dont want to eat you, you arent their normal food, they are full of crap, the shark is in survival mode and will eat whatever it happens to get, you included.

    Hey Hal, the first attack they claim it was a tiger shark. But from what I have seen it believe it was a bull shark. They seem like they drag their victims deeper often. Whereas a tiger shark seems like they come up and take bites out of the victim. But this seems to be the first where we have seen a tiger trying to drag out the victim.

    Gosh you really can’t do a better job with these attacks - you don’t come across as an expert - how nauseating - your descriptions are very clear and keep me interested. I assumed that attacks would happen ‘out there’ in the ocean, not in waist deep water😳😳😳I am shocked they can swim in water that shallow - maybe that’s why attacks are happening ... The movies certainly create whole different scenarios of how sharks attack so thank you for dispelling the myths😀👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁🐠🐟🐬🐋🦈🐊You feel like family💜

      Sharks are in water! Who knew? I really think only the stupid are breeding. You can enjoy the water, but put the odds in your favor. What time of day is it? Do you see feeder type fish running? How clear is the water? Have attacks happened in the area? A bit of research and you will stay off Hal's white board.

      Most attacks by whites are to get the person out of their area. Bulls and Tigers not the same tho. Bulls want to eat when they start usually and tigers are going to bite things at the surface just to grab a bite and leave mostly

    • @rottweilerfun9520
      @rottweilerfun9520 2 роки тому

      Unless they do eat you , they weren't trying to eat you. They might bite out of curiosity to see what you are , or to see if you are good to eat, or being territorial. If they want to eat you , you'll be eaten. It's not like we are faster than them in the water.

    Edit: Crazy...as I'm typing this watching the news I just saw a report that a surfer in California was attacked by a shark and suffered major injuries. I tried to post an article but UA-cam keeps deleting it.
