Awesome racing I love this amazing industry! Keep the whoop race videos coming.. I am all tuned in😎
Awesome race!!! Sweet spot!!
Looks like a really fun course layout.
Wuh~~~ that's awesome ~~ didn't even know there were 2s whoop races
That looked like lots of fun. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and post it here.
Congratulations 👍🤓
Looks like a blast 🤗
Love my Mr Shutterbug 85x with the avan props. They also work wonders on my Mantis85 😎
Dam. Thoez r some quick 2s whoops! Awesome
Good thing i carry all my whoops with me😊
You make me want to fly😁
This shutterbug was built specifically for 2s races?
What's the motor setup?
looks awesome, Good job! I wish there were ppl in my community that flew quads.
Cool event I would like to see a freestyle event with 2s-4s whoops Nate lol
Slic video man! Would love to see how a tinyhawk freestyle would compete in these events... Love the flyin!
Awesome video always look forward to them keep it up brother
So much fun!
This looks cool, l like the idea of a 2s race.
It's pretty cool. You can go all out and nothing break! Plus, the safety of the frame is what let us set up races at those community festivals over the summer. 2S whoops FTW!
Done sub. Really love race on whoop outdoors
I used to design power systems for pylon racing. What strikes me is that the concepts learnt there aren't applied really in drone racing. The basics such as prop to duct clearance, prop pitch and swept area. The less blades the better..I.e. 2. Each course has an optimum blade pitch for a mix of top speed and acceleration, but blade clearance is an eye opener for me..it has to minimal.
Edit: maybe its acceleration that counts in drone racing?.
I think that quadcopters in general and whoops like these as well are much different from prop-driven aeroplanes in the way that motors, blades and air interact during flight so it makes sense that the pylon racing principles don't translate directly. My own experience with my 85mm 2s whoop that uses the same frame as Mr Shutterbug's is that the hoops around the props are simply prop guards and don't provide any duct-like benefits and I actually prefer it this way.
Awesome race! I’ve been wanting to convert my HX100 over to a 85 just to see how they fly.
done convert..??
That water hazard though! Curious if this is a public space for flying. :)
Our festival racing series took place at public community festivals all over the area, but this particular race was our season finally. It took place at a private residence.
Enjoy the video and subscribe and like. I will visit you often
and watch good videos. 👍.👍.👍.
What camera do you recommend? Not too happy with the stock 85 Pro 2 cam.
And what values are you using for the virtual current meter?
Cool! I am loving mine....can you share de stl of this green pod?
What "glued" on the frame around the "ducts" or "prop protection" ?
I think it's this one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3137474
And the camera mount: betafpv.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/27000053350-stl-file-for-eos2-camera-mount-25-45-switchable-
Whats the build your flying? I was just talking to my friends about making some outdoor 2s whoops to race
It's a formula I call the "ShutterBug85". I have several and I still really enjoy them. You can find other videos on my channel, and you can find other derived works all over the internet if you search for "ShutterBug85". The BNF drone that is closest to mine is the Meteor85 by betafpv. I was the one who suggested it to them.
Those 2S whoops are crazy. How do you charge all the batteries? Sadly there are not many tiny 2S chargers out there
Nice! Any updates to the shutterbug build?
Have a beta 75x thatss not cooperating. Every now and then the video cuts out to static. Regardless of distance from goggles(fxt viper if that helps). Was doing testing on tje bench and discovered that the fc cutsout for a split second then the vtx is off for 3 or 4 seconds - just long enough to crash. Any ideas? Thanks!
If the fc cuts put, then there may be a bad connection on the power lead, or something that loose that causes a short?
@@MrShutterBug found out the 5v ec on the flight controller went out.
how long is the battery life of the whoop ?
It depends on the battery and how you fly. I would say 2-2.5 minutes of really hard racing or 3-4 minutes of freestyle. Longer if cruising around gently.
Hey nate, here is the comment you asked for. Hope the shipping is low
Do you run with the rx on the board for settings like this, or do you wire in an XM+ or similar?
I use the built-in Rx in D8 mode for most of my whoops.
Mr ShutterBug thanks for the quick reply!
One more question -- How would you compare these to your 1S ultralight toothpick (33g) flew?
Or would that be closer to a 75x ( vs85)?
link for this build
Very cool! Any tips on how I can get races going in my area? East coast...
Do you know anybody else who flies? If not, check on multigp.com to see if there are any chapters near you, or look for any Facebook groups for your area. Good luck!
Where are u? Im in Southwest VA

whats drone
Where did get this canopy?
3D printed. I think it’s this one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3137474
Then there is an additional mount on the inside to hold a nano camera. It’s not the lightest solution but nearly indestructible.
what's the back ground music?
It’s in the description text.
@@MrShutterBug ohh lol thanks a lot
Wait.. 650mah? Because you needed the 6 laps or because the shutterbug performs better with such a big battery? i thought 450mah was the sweet spot?
450mah non-hv has the same capacity as 520mah HV. So, 650mah HV is just a little bigger, and yeah it was impossible to complete that sixth lap without it. 450mah non-hv or 520mah HV is still a great size for everything else.
@@MrShutterBug what were lap times on average for the course? I have a very very fast Shutterbug, but after 2:30 it is done. :)
@@ProjectMockingbird ~24 seconds
@@ProjectMockingbird I tried flying 525mAh HV and it was not enough for the 6th lap, but 650mAh HV did the trick (thanks Ian!). So yeah... even then I was landing at around 2:30, but that's actually a pretty long time to be on 100% throttle! Zoom zoom!
are the whoops custom built
Yes, all of them are custom. Most are similar to my “ShutterBug85” design (see videos on my channel). The Beta85 Pro 2 is a BNF drone using my formula as well. Cheers!
LMAO
Wow! I HATE THIS HOBBY! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
