So today we take a look at the WLTOYS 124018 Desert buggy!
You know i am a massive fan of the 124019 and 144001 on the channel so it made sense we give one of these a try and see how it compares to the others and if it performs any different?
The WLTOYS range offer excellent affordability and are an ideal way for someone new to get into the RC hobby being cheap, durable and fun they tick every box.
For me i think the 124018 is the best looking but i will let you be the judge of that!

Hope you enjoyed the video! Was great to finally get a chance to see what the 124018 is like up close and i have to say i was very impressed with the styling and how it performs. I have to say i really do think this is the best looking WLTOYS model currently on offer!

Cheers mate appreciate that you really are a top lad! I have picked up a few things over the years but i would never pretend to know it all. I think RC is one of those things you can never really know everything.. always something to learn. I have also learnt a lot from you in the past few months and you are a good knowledgeable person to have on board. Dont get me wrong i love the idea of an X-maxx and i will work my way up to it but i do think the budget market has been forgotten a little and that's why i want to fill that space! Hopefully action packed times ahead my old pal! Slop not an issue.. then again never been an issue on any of my WLTOYS! Maybe i was lucky. No idea 😎😘👍
Another great video Ricky, we have the good old 12428-b ,love the styling on this and it's probably a better basher overall. That said though the 12428-b has its own when over trail terrain as it has a nice crawler element as well. Too many now too choose, I still love the desert Baja body style on that wltoys 1/12 but getting parts still an issue so stayed away from it

my mum bought that car for me as well after my singing competition, I found that the esc and motor heats up really quickly if you go flat out for quite a lot of times

Seems like it would be less suitable for jumping, considering the rear suspension is mounted to the plastic roll cage and its geometry.
Too many buyers get an OFF road vehicle and them treat it like an ON road vehicle doing speed runs with it. I would want this as a replacement for my 12428. For my driving style, I want the extra ground clearance this one seems to give. Nice first run video.

Worthy upgrade to the good old 12428? I've crawled, trailed and bashed mine with no trouble. Just rolls over easily on tarmac.

This is the one I should have ordered to put my FPV camera in. I put it on my 144001 and got a little carried away with the dumpster truck divots in the parking lot and flipped it a few times. Needless to say my 3D printed mount broke about the 5th roll as well as my antenna. This thing provides a built in cage for my camera!
The cage would have protected it!
@@beyondRC Exactly! And I could get a realistic driver's view with the camera. But seeing as how I bought the 144001 and 124019 within about 2 weeks I should wait a bit before ordering the 124018... or... 124016 :-)
Hello mate, hope your good.. I’m liking this, goes pretty well indeed, nice size and price, could be a good contender for another model for my little girl, she bashes pretty hard though so be interesting to see how durable these turn out to be, her main basher is the 1/10 Losi SCT so it would have a lot to live up too, I’ll definitely keep my eye on this though..
oh mate I’ve just noticed, I slightly changed my vinyl decals name as I have a new logo, it’s cmvinyluk with the . So you link no longer works unfortunately..
Good to see your still able to get out mate, I just can’t risk it at the moment but hopefully in a month or so I’ll be able to get out, fingers crossed as I’m going insane now..

Yeah I’m definitely putting this model on the one to look out for list for med year, hopefully we can go out by then too, the cage would be very useful, I’m a bit worried about the lack of bumper as she tends to bump them hard, on purpose lol, but I’m sure your be showing some others we will like though too..

Is a 2s lipo with 30c discharge rate okay to use on these? Cuz the battery says its only rated up to 25c. I got a few extra 30c 2s lipos and wondering if i could use em :)
Absolutely fine! Higher the C rating the better it won't cause damage. The electronics will only pull what they need and a Higher c rating will give more leg room. Check out my lipo guide on my channel if still unsure. Thanks

I would say this if primarily running off road or the 124019 for a mixed of on/off road use :)

Does the 124018 body fit on the 124019 with a few adjustments?
the 124018 runs a completely different shock setup so essentially isn't a direct fit
i know it's an old comment but yes it can fit , you just need a 124018 rear shock tower and the two plastics that connect the rear shocks to the a-arms ( also rotate the rear A-arms to face forward ) and the screws needed ( shocks use fairly long one to attach to the roll cage )
Can’t wait to get mine. Should be here any day now. Chose this over the 019 as I only wanted a low maintenance basher and it seems more durable due to the cage and covered shock towers. Not looking to set any speed records. How does the ground clearance compare to the 019 stock is there any difference?
This will definitely be the more durable option. The cage is well built and i do like the way the shock towers are covered which will without a doubt help to reduce breakages. Excellent choice. Ground clearance its pretty much the same but drop some droop screws in and you will give yourself the option to adjust this accordingly. You will love it 👍👍

whaaaaats up! no droop screw holes on the proper side of the control arm on the rear. i drilled some holes for some m2 screws on the opposite side of the where the the droop holes are located. because #DroopIsLife

Broke the first night. 12429 is way stronger not as fast or brittle. Way more fun.

this comes with a 2200mah Lipo!
what is the centre of mass like? back heavy? front heavy? does it topple over?
felt a little rear heavy due to the cage and big heavy 550 motor being closer to the back.. Thats just my opinion

I no longer have it I sold it a couple months after this video but it performed well the time I had it. These chassis are excellent

Bought mine for 95,- euros via eBay a week ago. Just got done greasing diffs. Next up: camo spray paint on chassis plastic parts..
