  • Last night, the baby eyas jumped onto the outer ledge and spent the night. We couldn't see him but could hear scratching noises. This morning around 5:17am, Dad flies in with prey and the baby tried to get back in the nest box but couldn't. Dad is smart and brings the prey over to the ledge and feeds the baby from there. He made it back up into the nest box shortly afterwards. Thank you for watching!

It brings a tear to my eye seeing this precious little falcon baby Rocky today. Soon after he fell backward off the outer ledge and later died from internal injury. He was special, had a personality I haven't seen in other baby falcons. By this time had he lived, he'd be out into his falcon world and his parents still feeding him and teaching him to hunt until about September.

Rocky's passing not only feels like loss of life, but loss of something very unique & special. He def captured my heart unlike other baby falcon/birds I've seen!

I blame the landlord for a poorly designed and constructed house.

Do not be silly. The house was not built for the birds. Accidents happen even in the wild.

There is small step from the nest box to the ledge and an area to walk on.

@@virginiasanchez4614 Hello Virginia no Rocky did not survive. They found him 8 stories down on the concrete and brought him back to the nest and did not take him to a rehab hospital to check for internal injuries. Rocky died 3 hours later on the nest with Dad brooding and trying to protect him. It was so heartbreaking that even 6 years later it still brings tears to my eyes watching him pass away.

@@ladyhawk sorry to ask but why didn't you grab him from the nest when he was back on it? Maybe you could of helped him....just trying to understand. I wonder sometimes when the people record birds and ask myself why don't they help the little babies when they fall or are getting beat up by their brothers, I know its parts of life cycle but we can also help them.

@@virginiasanchez4614 I wish I could but the peregrine falcons are protected raptors and only the AZGFD would have permission to access and intervene in the nest during the breeding season. They made a mistake and put him back in the nest and it was too late at that point to save him. I do not have access or permission to intervene - but I wish I did at times!!

IMO these nest boxes are poorly designed.
