Vietnamese food is incredible. The country is even better. Been twice now and I'm going again in September. I recommend anyone go there. The country is beautiful and the people are amazing
I had Vietnamese friends and was invited for dinner once. Over 35 years later I still remember how delicious the food was.

Fabulous looking food and you could tell it was created with passion and expertise. Never stop telling us about food that makes you smile.
I think I mentioned in another comment the fact that London has the best of the Orient when it comes to food and not just Chinese. However, Vietnamese is possibly my favourite. You need to try Bahn MI somewhere, it's a sandwich but on another level. I am so happy you loved this. The best place is Kingsland High Road, there are about 20 plus Vietnamese restaurants to choose from. Oh, and Thailand is amazing but Vietnam, is even more beautiful and the people are the most humble, friendly and generous.
WE have been going there for years .."Ang" is a legend and her family so warm and loving .It is without a doubt our FAVOURITE place to just "munch"

@Judy, 👍👍I'm like that with Thai, I'm a 70 yo Londoner but Italian by descent, I have preferred robust flavours throughout my life, as I guess that is what I've been used to, so Thai flavours seem too flowery for me but I'm willing to give Vietnamese a go based on DJ's fine review!!

Please go to Vietnam!!! Thailand is so expensive. Go to Hanoi , Danang beach, and finally Ho Chi Minh City. Incredible people

When you laugh while or after eating it is "delight". I once ate a steak (a bistecca alla diavola) that made me giggle all the way though it - in sheer delight.

Vietnamese food is so clean, light and healthy. You handled the dishes like a pro. Maybe just a little more mint on the lettuce wrap. Next time try banh mi (pork salad on crispy roll) or Vietnamese pancake.

I did a North to South bike ride (Hanoi to Saigon) after seeing the Top Gear team do it (they went south to North though) and now it's a famous bike ride. It's incredible, the People, the landscape and the food. Oh man, wonderful country 👍

Went to Vietnam a couple of years ago. Started in the north and made our way to the south. Lovely food and unbelievable how cheap it is.Beatiful country and extremely friendly people.

Vietnamese food is so good, it's a shame we don't have more of it in the uk like america does. I first tried Vietnamese food in New York many years ago by a Viet family who were super friendly and made food authentically and traditionally. I then went to Vietnamese a few years later in Ho Chi Minh City and was again blown away by it, especially the street food. On that trip I also went island hoping in Cambodia and also Pattaya City in Thailand, and have to say, the food in South East Asia is extraordinary. I'd only put it second to South Asian (Indian and the subcontinent), and I'd put Arab/Perian/Middle-eastern/North African 3rd. It's amazing how much culinary quality to can experience from going across the world from Morocco to Japan.

I was laughing when you didn't use the mint with the first spring roll. Then I was surprised you didn't mention how much the mint changed the experience.
Mint is used in many Vietnamese dishes.

I love Vietnamese food! This looked great, OTC, plus their menu looks great!
Vietnamese food seems to burst with freshness and flavour. I've always thought how wonderful it must be to live there because of the great nosh. My son has a lovely Vietnamese wife and it's always a joy when she cooks for us. We tend to visit a lot. 😉 If yours was even half as good as it looked, that must have been a fab dining experience, Darren. Really enjoyed this (as usual).
Btw, if you've not already done so, see if you can get to try Thai laab. It's very hot but incredibly tasty, and is usually minced beef or chicken, spiced up with smoked and roasted Bird's Eye Chillies, Long Pepper (deeplee), Thai Prickly Ash (makwaem), Peucedanum Dhana (maleap), Indian Bayleaf (Cinnamomum Tamala), Coriander seed, Dill seed, Cumin seed, Fennel seed, Sun-dried Sand Ginger, Galangal and Lemongrass and Black pepper.
I love to spoon some into a lettuce leaf and eat it that way. If you want to try cooking it at home, laab spice mixes are widely available.

If you're going to Thailand later this year try Addie's Thai Restaurant in Earl's court, my thai missus isn't easily impressed but she really likes this one.
Never really given Vietnamese cuisine a thought but after watching this I'd have no hesitation in giving it a go , looked wonderful .

Hi Darren the spring rolls looked nice but seems unusual wrapping them in lettuce leaves, and I’ve never seen the main course arriving while you are eating your starter, but I’ve never been in a Vietnamese restaurant so what do I know, but glad you enjoyed it, living in London you have an amazing selection of different cuisines

I am keen on Vietnam next time I'm over that way, though. It is quite inconvenient to reach from the UK, but easy from Bangkok.

Still have nightmares about Greek st from 2002. Driving a stretch limo looking for 2 clients who had gone to L'ESCARGOT. I recall going through a small tunnel and having to do a left, 10 shunts back and forth to get round. 😂 apologies to the black cabs behind me 😂😂
