I can see these things being invaluable to local gigging musicians. Almost all of the venues around me have cabinets as part of the in house equipment or you can go straight into the PA so being able to turn up with just a pedal board case and your instrument is an absolute win
Hi Pete, great demo. I purchased an Amped2 from the guitar show in the U.K. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with James and Steve from Blackstar who showed me some of the awesome features in this pedal. An example. The delay and reverb pedals-if you hold your foot down on them it goes into a ‘freeze’ mode which intensifies the effect going into self oscillation! As soon as you release the pedal it’s back to normal! Great nuance effects. Also a lot of the controls do more than one thing. If you turn the level up on the mod pedal on certain effects it will change. I.e one of them changes into an optical trem effect past 12 on the level. Really cool Hendrix vibey style effect. There are other click and hold variations in the controls too. I use a MIDI switcher which makes it like a multi effects as pretty much any parameter can be MIDI controlled. I love my Amped2 and use it so much.
I've always loved fly rig types of pedals, or even small modelers like the HeadRush mx5. I have a first generation Blackstar ht50 head that I love. Smoothest gain I've ever heard plugged straight into without any pedals.
13:47 I occasionally use the old "pan the whole DAW mix to one speaker, pan the recording/feedback guitar to the other" It's a cheap and cheerful low effort option for getting feedback in a wee studio without mics on cabs etc.
This is pretty much what I have been waiting for ever since digital amps and modelers came out. Versatile, sounds great, simple interface. Just sold my AX8, got one of these on the way.
First impressions? As you will have a good reference because of having a fractal.i am in a same boat of waiting of these all in one units to become a standard..there are a few, like hk blackspirit, but this one is more portable, which is a big plus.looking forward to your insight
It is amazing watching you put these demo's together. The 80's tones were just dripping and ripping out of that little red box and that Suhr reg guitar!! As always, INSPIRING to behold.
Your playing/composition/tone creations have to be one of the best out there bar nun! Then to throw that onto it your personal character speaks for itself. Pete Thorn is the true gem of the guitar world! Thanks for being you!
Pete, You are the very best when it comes to a demo. I can not stand to watch many channels even try. They totaaly skip out on featues, especially the cleans because they just do not have a melodc bone in their body. Its all just chug, chug, chug, Heavy tones. You show every unit to its absolute best. Appreciate your channel.
Pete, you are a gifted man!! These little demo songs you compose are so dynamic and powerful. The demos are great for the equipment, but the songs are so musical too!
Wow. Great demo. This thing has some chunk. Hard to find in pedal form. Interesting. Also can change wattage. Nice! Would like to try with a wah and whammy pedals to see how it interacts with them.
Perfect demo precise and concise, I don't want to sit through a long deep dive. If I can't hear what it's capable of in a few minutes I'm not interested. Thanks Pete.
I love that single-note riff played on the Destroyer, it reminds me a little of “Lay It Down” by Ratt and the album “Burn It Black” by Injected, which are not bands that I usually think about having any similarities! Very cool.
I think being on the road agrees with Pete. Playing better than ever! And that descending chromatic run at around 12:39 stopped me dead in my tracks, and I had to hear it a couple of more times!! Haha
_I just got the Laney LoudPedal and it gets me MOSTLY what I want. 🌝 But for some of the songs that I get going that I am trying to get a Ministry vibe from, I feel like this pedal would benefit me the most._
I love your intro Tunes Pete! Always a talent show! I was going to say that the first lead sound you dialled, with the volume swell sounded like Jeff Beck (....ended as lovers)...and then you started playing some lol.
Pretty sure you'd make a badminton racket into a dust bin sound immense Pete but this was other level BRAW! I've got the smaller brother Amped 1 which I hoped would be a good to decent back up or something I'd use for rehearsals but it's ended up being the centre of my little rig for all gigs, replacing my much loved Swart amp. Is it the same? No. Is it really good sounding and way more convenient and light? Absolutely!
Pete I'm getting a wee bit sceptical about some of these pedals because you come up with the great music to show them in their best light. I enjoy your shows bud, your very skilled at demoing these pedals🏴👍👍👍🥃Respect to you mate
Hey Pete, Thank you for all that you share with us! Have you had a chance to check out the Headrush Prime yet? I am wondering if it would do a good enough job for live gigs in order for me to leave my Quad Cortex at home in my pumpkin shell.
Cette voix calme et posée qui dispense ses conseils avisés. J’ai changé beaucoup de choses dans mes séances depuis que je vous suis. Question qui peut paraître bête. Quelle inclinaison du banc est préférable 30 ou 40º??
Hi Pete and thanks for all your great vids! 🙂I got inspired to ask you for some advice (maybe a nice idea for a video?) when I watched this product (might get it). I got an HT Club 40 MkI that has got tube failure right now. I'm more of a bluesrock guy and I always ached for that tone on my Blackstar, but obviously it's geared towards hardrock-metal. I've heard you many times on videos mention e.g. the JJ brand for tubes. Speaker-wise obviously the seventy-80 speaker works for the intended sound of the amp, but my idea was to change the speaker maybe to a Creamback 65. Also what tubes would give me the most blues-/bluesrock sound out of the thing? I'm not an informed guy tube amp-wise, so to me it's confusing that exactly the same tube structure of one tube head would sound completely different in another tube head, and the 3 AX7 and 2 EL34/6L6 is the standard case in most (I've read that one preamp tube and the PI is substituted for non-tube components, but it shouldn't matter a ton if the last part of the chain is a tube in the preamp and poweramp). So in short, how would I choose tubes - along with the Creamback speaker - to turn it into a blues-/bluesrock amp (if that's even possible)? Cheers!
Pete! Wear Where these Things 40 years ago Right?? So Kool to have such a Device to do all that and a bag of Whoop Ass! I know we all needed lots of time practicing and trying New gear to try and find out My Tone! But I would have loved to had just one of these!!! Great Video & Jam! U just keep pulling them out that Hat my Brother! ❤️🎸🤘🤠
Thanks Pete. I like the idea of these powered modelers. I find playing a modeler through a real guitar cab more satisfying than FRFR speakers for some reason.
Independent of the Blackstar AMPED 2 sounding great, Pete could take ordinary used car parts and find a way to get amazing tone we all will now have to get. Unappreciated talent.
Just wondering Pete, will you be making a demo of the Headrush Prime? I was lucky enough to get one from the first batch that Sweetwater got, it arrived today. Even though I already have it, I still like to get your take and of course hear you play. :)
I like these things but the display on them is so small I can't read it when it's on the floor. They need to make a large display , or lights with different colours so I can remember what color to what sound. I can't even read the high end ones because my eyesight is deteriorating.
Hi Pete i have a recommendation for you : There are many people who think van halen used the jbl d120f for speakers because there is a picture of roth sitting on a cab with speakers having huge silver domes. However i believe it isn't a jbl d120f those could be altec 417-8H speakers and here is why : alex van halen used altec speakers and randy rhoads too. fo randy rhoads there was a woody tone article mentionning how randy went to see van halen live and tried to find out how eddie got his tone. those altec speakers match the picture plus their dome are taller. When you listen to them they clearly have some van halen mojo. You should test them and make a video about it.
In an Interview with someone that followed the early years of Van Halen that guy stated that Ed probably used cheap 12" RADIO SHACK MUSICAL INSTRUMENT SPEAKERs at least until Van Halen recorded that first album. Those had a giant aluminium dome too. That guy said, the jbl d120f sounded too icepicky🙂 I heard about it when I just purchased an old jbl d120f. Haha, I guess we'll never know for shure ;-) Those old Radio Shack Speakers are not so easy to obtain, when you live in europe like me, but I must admit, I already searched reverb for them, haha. Crazy! I guess I stop chasing his tone and better try to practice more.
@@birkbolins9654 I heard about it too. The issue i have with this statement is that the only speaker matching the dome size is the 40-1314. The issue with this speaker is that the cone has circumfenrencial lines in it while the picture with roth clearly shows a smooth cone. However the 417h matches the picture : it has a tall dome and smooth cone.
@@birkbolins9654 another thing to take in consideration the cabs used for small clubs aren't perhaps those used for the recordings. I mean eddie might have been using radioshacks during the early club playing but he might have changed cabs or speakers for recording.
You're demo compositions are better written than 90% of everything out there. I'm jealous.

the R.A.T.T. influence was showing during the heavy riffs. loved the musicality you got out of the pedal
That climax at 1:16 - I've heard it more than 20 times now, it's still causing me to tears. Brilliant!!!
I've always loved fly rig types of pedals, or even small modelers like the HeadRush mx5. I have a first generation Blackstar ht50 head that I love. Smoothest gain I've ever heard plugged straight into without any pedals.
It IS a killer amp! Great OD and distortion channels. I use a noisegate in the effects loop to tame that hi gain channel, works like the bees knees🤘🏾💯
I always enjoy the way you do demos. The music created for these never disappoints. This stuff gets better and better.
Thank u!
I come here for the opening groove, I stay for the review. Awesome as usual, it's incredible to see everything that's available to musicians nowadays.
If I played gigs or played out somewhere, this would be killer. Amp and pedal board in one small and light package. Killer demo!
